Chapter 44 Giving, eating candy
Am I about to die?
Gu Yuanyuan's voice became extremely weak again.
Lu Jiunian's deep voice came through the phone, "What's wrong?"
“I had an argument with Shi Nianzhi and he pushed me down the stairs. I was badly injured. Uncle Lu, I feel so dizzy. Could you call 120 for me and have my parents come?”
After Gu Yuanyuan finished speaking, he hung up the phone without waiting for Lu Jiunian's reply.
Su Heng took Shi Nianzhi to the infirmary.
On the way, I met Mu Guangcheng, who was late.
He ate his steamed bun as he walked toward the teaching building. The class bell was about to ring, and the students around him started running, but he walked slowly, as if taking a stroll.
When Mu Guangcheng saw Shi Nianzhi, he greeted her, "Where are you going?"
"Boss, you're not angry with me anymore?"
"I've already eaten your food, why are you still angry?"
Actually, what happened yesterday wasn't Shi Nianzhi's fault; it was Su Hengyi who beat him up.
Shi Nianzhi is at most considered to be a bit dim-witted.
Mu Guangcheng wasn't the kind of person to be narrow-minded. Besides, why should he bother arguing with someone as simple-minded as Shi Nianzhi?
"Class is about to start."
"Why are you, a terrible student, yelling at someone to start class?"
Mu Guangcheng's friend passed by and muttered something.
Mu Guangcheng raised the half-eaten bun in his hand and threw it at the back of the man's head. "What are you saying to your brother Mu? You want to be beaten up again, don't you!"
The person chuckled and ran off, saying, "Brother Mu, hurry back to the classroom, the bell is about to ring."
Su Hengyi kept looking at Mu Guangcheng from beginning to end.
Shi Nianzhi seemed to remember something, "Boss, just now... um..."
Su Hengyi wrapped his arm around Shi Nianzhi's neck, covered his mouth with his hand, and then pulled him away.
Mu Guangcheng looked at the two people with a puzzled expression; their posture was rather intimate.
He even had a vulgar thought: Su Hengyi has already fallen for someone else so quickly?
What the hell? What is he thinking?
What does it have to do with him!
Mu Guangcheng withdrew his gaze and walked upstairs. The school bell rang as if it were a death knell.
It startled him.
Mu Guangcheng immediately withdrew his foot; he couldn't take this staircase anymore, or he would be found to be late.
The first period seemed to be the homeroom teacher's class, and he wanted to sneak into the classroom through the back door before the homeroom teacher noticed.
So Mu Guangcheng walked through the first-floor corridor, intending to go up the back stairs so he could easily exit through the back door.
They ran into Gu Yuanyuan and her group. Gu Yuanyuan was being helped up, and the sight of half her face covered in blood was quite shocking.
The head of the teaching department, who looked worried, was also standing nearby.
Mu Guangcheng swallowed his gloating words.
After they had walked away, Mu Guangcheng went upstairs in a very good mood. He was always in a good mood whenever Gu Yuanyuan was in trouble.
As we approached the seventh floor, we saw traces of blood at the corner of the stairs.
He stood at the crime scene, resting his chin on his hand, and thought for a moment.
The stairs were designed to be slip-resistant, and it wasn't raining. There weren't many people around early in the morning, so how could Gu Yuanyuan have fallen down the stairs?
I don't think he fell on his own; it looks like he was pushed.
Mu Guangcheng snapped his fingers. "Well done!"
He's a true hero.
Mu Guangcheng planned to go back and ask which hero had done something so satisfactory to him, and he wanted to become his blood relative with that hero!
As Mu Guangcheng walked towards the classroom, he rubbed his chin. "Blood ties"—that phrase didn't quite sound right. What was it again? That phrase...
I can't remember.
Mu Guangcheng smacked his head, taking advantage of the teacher's distraction while working on the presentation slides and not paying attention to the classroom.
He carried his schoolbag and slipped through the back door, past the last row, and when he got to his seat, he quickly stood up and sat down.
Pretend that he has been in the classroom the whole time.
As soon as Su Heng let go of Shi Nianzhi, he asked in confusion, "Why didn't you tell the boss? You helped him deal with Gu Yuanyuan."
Su Hengyi said coldly, "Don't say it."
"If you do it but don't tell him, how will he know what you did for him?"
He doesn't need to know.
Shi Nianzhi: "..."
Walking along the tree-lined school path, bathed in the morning sun, Su Hengyi spoke softly after a long while, "If someone doesn't like another person, everything that other person does is wrong."
Shi Nianzhi felt that he could understand each word Su Hengyi said, but when those words were put together, he seemed not to understand them.
Shi Nianzhi looked at the back of Su Hengyi's head and asked, "Brother Yi, how did you fall for the boss?"
"He's awful."
"You hate him, yet you still like him?"
This touches upon Shi Nianzhi's blind spot in knowledge.
Su Heng glanced back at Shi Nianzhi, smiled without saying a word, and then gestured with his hand to shush, "Don't talk about things with Gu Yuanyuan."
"good."
Shi Nianzhi nodded.
Medical room.
Shi Nianzhi's stomach was already bruised, and the school doctor prescribed him a bottle of medicated oil.
Su Heng glanced at Shi Nianzhi's face; it was only slightly red, not swollen, and unless you looked closely, you couldn't tell that she had been beaten.
But it must hurt.
Su Heng asked the school doctor for an ice pack and had him apply it to his skin.
I left the school clinic.
Su Heng took Shi Nianzhi to the convenience store.
Shi Nianzhi followed behind him and asked, "Aren't we going back to class?"
"Don't you dislike going to class?"
"I am, I am..."
Shi Nianzhi caught up with Su Hengyi and asked again, "Brother Yi, don't you like going to class either?"
"I neither like nor dislike it."
"So how did you get first place in the grade? Do you have any secrets? Share them with me, the kind that, while not guaranteeing you'll get first place, will at least ensure you pass. At least..."
Shi Nianzhi lowered her head and smiled shyly, "At least I can understand what the teacher is saying."
Seeing Shi Nianzhi like this, Su Hengyi reached out and patted his head, like petting a pet. "There's no secret."
Shi Nianzhi looked up in surprise. In the sunlight, he looked back at the boy's handsome face. "Ah?"
"Born that way."
Su Heng turned around and walked into the convenience store.
After a while, he took out two bottles of Coke from the refrigerator, and Shi Nianzhi took out two lollipops.
The shop owner was dozing off, resting his chin on his hand. He squinted and glanced at the item. "Seven yuan."
Su Hengyi reached into his school uniform pocket.
Shi Nianzhi took out his meal card. "Swipe mine."
The meal card is universal and can be used at convenience stores and the cafeteria. Shi Nianzhi's meal card still has money on it. When Lu Jiunian asked his assistant to help him enroll, he put 10,000 yuan on it.
The assistant was very thoughtful, worried that Shi Nianzhi might be too shy to ask Lu Jiunian for more money and end up going hungry.
I might as well top up a larger amount at once, since I can get a refund if I don't use it all.
The shop owner glanced down at Shi Nianzhi's balance and chuckled, "Your parents really dote on you. I've been running this convenience store for ten years, and this is the first time I've seen someone with such a large meal card balance."
Shi Nianzhi blushed slightly and put away his meal card. "Shh, keep it low-key."
After leaving the convenience store, Su Heng took a sip of cola and didn't ask any further questions.
He stayed with Shi Nianzhi in the shade under the flagpole until almost the end of get out of class before going back.
I got back just as get out of class ended.
As soon as Shi Nianzhi sat down, Mu Guangcheng rushed over and asked, "Did you see Gu Yuanyuan when you went downstairs?"
"Gu Yuanyuan is on the back stairs, how could I have seen him?"
After Shi Nianzhi finished speaking, he noticed that Su Hengyi glanced at him.
Shi Nianzhi's heart skipped a beat. Had he said something wrong?
He quickly added, "My brother and I went down the stairs in front."
Mu Guangcheng gently patted Shi Nianzhi's table and smiled, "How did you know Gu Yuanyuan was on the back stairs? If you hadn't run into him."
Shi Nianzhi: "..."
No wonder Su Hengyi wanted to take a look at him.
Shi Nianzhi took a lollipop out of his pocket, unwrapped it, and said, "I guessed."
"You guessed so accurately?"
"Boss, have some candy! I don't know anything."
Shi Nianzhi poked the peeled candy into Mu Guangcheng's mouth, and Mu Guangcheng bit it into pieces in one bite.
He has a certain handsomeness about him.
Because Mu Guangcheng's gaze was fixed on Shi Nianzhi, Su Hengyi's gaze towards Mu Guangcheng became somewhat unrestrained.
Mu Guangcheng pinched Shi Nianzhi's neck and said, "Okay, the boss won't ask you such a scary question right away. The boss will ask you something simple."
If Mu Guangcheng wanted to get information out of Shi Nianzhi, he first needed to break down Shi Nianzhi's current defensiveness.
He asked him, "What's the term for that blood oath ceremony again? It's four characters long."
Shi Nianzhi even thought about it seriously for a moment, "Sworn brothers?"
Mu Guangcheng nodded. "Yes, you know Gu Yuanyuan is injured."
I know...
Just as Shi Nianzhi opened his mouth, Su Hengyi coughed.
Shi Nianzhi was coughed out of Mu Guangcheng's trap, and she shrank her neck.
She continued softly from her previous answer, "Do I know? Of course I don't know. Gu Yuanyuan is injured? Is it serious?"
Mu Guangcheng: "......."
Do these two people think he's an idiot?
Mu Guangcheng didn't plan to ask any more questions. After all, with Su Hengyi, a top-tier support player, he couldn't possibly get any information out of Shi Nianzhi.
"You don't know? Then I'll go ask someone else."
Mu Guangcheng patted Shi Nianzhi on the shoulder. Anyway, Su Hengyi had to prepare for the competition and couldn't be there all day.
He'll come then.
As he was about to leave, Su Heng said, "Let's swear a blood oath."
Mu Guangcheng turned around. Actually, he didn't really want to talk to Su Hengyi, but if he seemed too bothered, wouldn't it make him seem like he had something to hide?
So Mu Guangcheng still asked, just to be polite, "What?"
The phrase "to swear brotherhood by dripping blood".
Shi Nianzhi clapped his hands, "Yes, it's a blood oath. I knew it wasn't quite right to say we'd become sworn brothers."
Mu Guangcheng: "..."
What the hell does Su Hengyi mean by this? Who does he look down on?
He's very cultured, you know; he just didn't think of it at the time.
So Mu Guangcheng said arrogantly, "I know, I was just testing this idiot."
Shi Nianzhi was shot for no apparent reason.
Lu Jiunian's assistant knocked on the classroom door. When Shi Nianzhi looked at him, he nodded, signaling her to come out.
Shi Nianzhi walked out.
The assistant spoke up, "Young Master Shi, Third Master is looking for you. He's already arranged your leave. Come with me."
"Did you say what it was about?"
The assistant smiled and said, "You'll see when you get there."
