Chapter 7 Protecting You
"Can't keep up with the class?"
The man returned the test paper to Shi Nianzhi.
Shi Nianzhi took it, bent down and continued writing, "I can keep up."
Perhaps it was because Lu Jiunian's presence was too strong that he couldn't concentrate on his work when Lu Jiunian was staring at him.
Shi Nianzhi fiddled with the cap of his pen, and he and Lu Jiunian looked at each other.
She further explained, "When the teacher talks in class, I listen and I think it's fine, I understand. But when it comes to doing homework, I'm completely lost, I can't do this or that."
He then added, "Am I stupid?"
Lu Jiunian placed his hand on Shi Nianzhi's head and patted it, "Also..."
He wanted to say no, but the test paper, full of wrong answers, was simply unbearable to look at.
Lu Jiunian finally said, "I'll come back early tonight and teach you."
"Thanks."
Shi Nianzhi continued writing his exam paper.
Lu Jiunian couldn't stand it anymore and snatched the test paper away. "Don't write anymore. Just leave the ones you don't know blank. You won't get any points for writing them."
"There are points. You get one point for explaining the character. Also, if you write it down, the teacher won't make me stand as punishment."
Shi Nianzhi's serious voice.
Students who are academically weak have their own ways of getting away with things by ignoring their teachers.
The man frowned. "I sent you to school, and this is all you're supposed to learn?!"
Differences in values.
Shi Nianzhi was not one to argue with others, so he took out another test paper. Standing for one class period was better than standing for two.
People must learn to cut their losses in time.
Lu Jiunian glanced at it and saw that it was full of wrong answers. "Why don't you study humanities instead!"
As he finished speaking, he glanced at the Chinese language test paper that Shi Nianzhi had shown.
It happened to be the essay section, which required writing an argumentative essay. His essay was completely nonsensical, riddled with grammatical errors, and utterly worthless.
Lu Jiunian gritted his teeth slightly, "Shi Nianzhi, were you raised on pig feed?!"
"You mean sweet potato leaves?"
"parking!"
Lu Jiunian opened the car door on Shi Nianzhi's side, "Get out!"
Shi Nianzhi grabbed the test papers and books and stuffed them into his schoolbag.
He didn't resist and obediently got off the bus with his schoolbag on his back.
As Lu Jiunian's car drove away, Shi Nianzhi adjusted her backpack straps to her shoulders.
He didn't know how he had offended that man again, and was inexplicably kicked off the bus.
Fortunately, we're almost at school; we just need to cross the street.
class.
Shi Nianzhi sat down in the last row.
The teacher spoke very quickly, finishing her explanation in no time.
Most of them are saying, "You all know how to do this, right?"
The lower-ranking student replied, "I know them all."
"Then I won't talk about it."
Shi Nianzhi: "..."
He doesn't know how.
So he spent the entire math class frantically correcting his mistakes, wishing he could write down every single word the teacher said.
He was so anxious that his handwriting became distorted, and a fine layer of cold sweat appeared on his forehead.
We're still not keeping up with the pace.
He's having such a hard time; he wants to go back to herding cattle.
His deskmate was Mu Guangcheng.
The student who had been absent since the start of the semester due to a foot injury came to class today.
Even before he arrived, Shi Nianzhi had already heard many stories about him.
In short: This is not a good person!
When Shi Nianzhi saw Mu Guangcheng leaning over to look at his exam paper, he defensively covered it with his hand.
"What are you doing?"
"Tsk tsk, it's rare to meet someone with even worse grades than me. Looks like you're destined to be last in the grade from now on. You're so loyal, making me second to last. Here's the deal: you call me boss and pay me a hundred yuan a month for protection, and I'll protect you!"
