0002 Insomnia
Song Yue sat alone in the room, looking up at her surroundings. The room wasn't very big, but it was cozy, with a warm, pinkish color scheme throughout.
She leaned back and sank into the soft sheets, making one feel soft and tender.
I closed my eyes, and my whole body felt a bit empty.
Su Cheng had told Song Yue his reasons for adopting her when they first met.
Because Song Yue's parents were his good friends, and Song Yue became an orphan due to an accident years ago, he searched for many years before finally finding her.
Song Yue didn't really have any feelings for her parents; she just saw the genuine concern in his eyes, so she nodded in agreement.
I left the place where I had lived for sixteen years.

The next day, Su Cheng went downstairs early in the morning and saw someone sitting on the sofa in the living room.
Her slender back slumped slightly, and she curled up on the sofa.
"Xiaoyue, why are you up so early? You're still a child, you should sleep a little longer..."
When Su Cheng got closer and saw her expression, his face changed, and he stepped forward with concern: "Xiaoyue, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Her thin, pale face was covered in disheveled hair, and her eyes were wide open and vacant.
As if she had finally spotted someone, Song Yue's eyes flickered slightly, but she remained silent.
Su Cheng was even more anxious. How could things have turned out like this after only one day back?
They quickly found a driver and took Song Yue to the hospital.
In the ward, the little boy slept soundly, but even in his sleep, his body remained unconsciously stiff.
At the door, Su Cheng listened anxiously to the doctor's words.
"From what you've said, it seems the child is adjusting to the new environment..." The doctor frowned as he flipped through the documents in his hand: "This child is also in poor health, suffering from long-term malnutrition, anxiety, and is in a defensive state."
As he spoke, the doctor glanced inside through the glass window by the door: "Look at any other child sleeping like that, it must be because they're under too much stress. I suggest you first try to calm her down and then gradually take care of her health."
Su Cheng followed the doctor's gaze and looked inside, his eyes heavy. That damned orphanage...
When Song Yue woke up again, the first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was the pink ceiling above her.
Beneath me were soft blankets instead of a uncomfortable bed board, and the familiar curses were gone; everything was different.
She sat up in a daze, her gaze slowly wandering around.
When Su Cheng opened the door and came in, he saw her in this state. He was anxious, but he also knew that he could only take it slowly.
"Xiaoyue, Uncle made you some porridge. Do you like it?"
As she spoke, she brought over the porridge she was holding and placed it by the bedside.
Song Yue's dark, bright eyes followed his movements, making her look like an innocent little animal, which softened Su Cheng's heart.
How could those people treat such a lovely child like this?
"Will your uncle feed you, or will you do it yourself?"
Su Cheng touched the bowl; it was warm.
Song Yue shifted slightly and sat up.
He quickly and carefully handed her the bowl, saying, "Be careful, it's hot."
Song Yue blew on it, then swallowed it in small sips, eating happily.
Su Cheng felt sorry for her and kept whispering to her from the side, "Slow down, be careful, there's more if you want."
"Xiaoyue, are you feeling better now?"
Song Yue touched her stomach and then her head. Feeling fine, she nodded to Su Cheng.
Su Cheng reached out and touched her hair. "Okay, then you can sleep for a while and get up to play when you've had enough sleep."
Song Yue barely slept last night and went to the hospital again this morning. Although she had slept before, she felt sleepy after eating and obediently lay down.
Normally at this time, she would be called by the housekeeper to clean the yard.
Seeing her close her eyes and her breathing become gentle, Su Cheng slowly left the room.
Outside the room, Su Cheng's gaze suddenly darkened.
I picked up my phone and made a call.
He then walked dejectedly to the sofa and sat down. He had thought that the orphanage would at least be more discreet, but he hadn't expected that he would discover at the hospital that Song Yue couldn't even write her own name.
They didn't even let her go to school.
The original plan to send her to high school has been temporarily canceled.
Su Cheng was thinking of finding a tutor for Song Yue to come to his home for extra lessons.
But with the child's introverted personality, it might be a bit difficult.
It's impossible for me to be by my child's side every single moment.
Thinking about this, Su Cheng was truly troubled.
Suddenly, the cell phone rang.
Su Cheng was annoyed when he saw Su Mingxi's name flashing repeatedly. Suddenly, a thought struck him: wasn't his eldest son a university professor?
The call was answered immediately.
"Mingxi, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing, I just called to ask how things are at home."
Of course, both of them knew exactly what "home" referred to.
"At home, everything's fine. But I happen to have something I'd like to discuss with you."
Su Mingxi put down her speech notes and paused. "What is it?"
"I just found out about your sister today. She might not be very good at studying. Do you have time to tutor her sometime so she can go to high school sooner?"
Su Mingxi said, "It's nothing, I've had quite a bit of free time lately with my classes."
Su Cheng quickly pressed his advantage, saying, "Then it's settled. I'll take Xiaoyue to your place later."
He hung up before Su Mingxi could even reply.
I was afraid he would suddenly say he had something to do.
Su Mingxi looked at the phone that had been hung up, somewhat puzzled.
