Chapter 102

Chapter 102

Upon hearing this, Jin Chuwan frowned. She subconsciously glanced around, but didn't see anyone suspicious.

"What are you saying? I don't understand."

A casual laugh came through the phone again.

This made Jin Chuwan even more annoyed. She didn't understand why Yin Zhihua, whom she had no entanglement with before, was now talking like a lover she had abandoned.

Jin Chuwan took a deep breath and patiently continued.

"If you're angry because I didn't recognize you before, I apologize now. I only recognized you after seeing your recent fashion magazine. After all... you look very different now, and... much more mature."

The voice on the phone was slightly distorted. As Yin Zhihua listened to her somewhat stiff compliments, a hint of sarcasm, dissatisfaction, and a sense of disappointment that he himself couldn't quite explain appeared on his handsome and flamboyant face.

He never imagined that one day he would hear such lines from Jin Chuwan, lines that sounded like strangers trying to get close to each other.

If it were the old her, she probably would have hung up immediately if he had annoyed her.

Yin Zhihua's face suddenly lit up with a brief moment of joy, but it was quickly covered by indifference and gloom. He seemed to be lost in his own thoughts and somewhat absent-minded.

Meanwhile, Kim Cho-wan could only hear a long silence.

The rain outside kept falling. Jin Chuwan watched Cheng Xiucheng run towards her with an umbrella, and tried her best to remain calm while talking on the phone.

"By the way, it's been so long since we last contacted each other. I wonder how you've been lately? Do you have time to meet up?"

This time, there was finally a response on the other end of the phone.

It was a man's muffled laughter.

"So, we're on the same page."

Jin Chuwan was taken aback. So, Yin Zhihua had come to see her earlier?

"Then, shall we arrange a time and place?"

Jin Chuwan tried to make her voice sound calm, but Yin Zhihua clearly didn't want to engage in any unnecessary pleasantries with her.

"You really want to see me?"

Yin Zhihua stood up before the elevator and gently touched the buttons on it.

"Of course it's true."

Jin Chuwan's answer seemed to finally please him, and Yin Zhihua's smile finally softened.

"Then you should hurry home..."

Jin Chuwan paused, still pondering the meaning of those words, but the other party had already hung up on them.

Cheng Xiucheng stood obediently to the side, holding an umbrella, because Jin Chuwan had told him not to disturb her when she was busy. But at this moment, her expression seemed a little off, and he unconsciously raised his hand and touched her cheek.

It's a little cold.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Jin Chuwan looked up at Cheng Xiucheng. To be honest, she didn't know what had happened. The Yin Zhihua she remembered was definitely not like this, but the current him gave her the feeling that...

That's strange.

It's strange...

She was a little unsure of his thoughts and what he would do next.

"Xiucheng, could you wait for me at the restaurant downstairs in the apartment building for a while? I'm going home for a bit, I'll be right back."

"OK."

I was only waiting downstairs for a while, but why did Jin Chuwan's expression look so strange?

It seems like they're worried about something.

But he had checked everything before leaving: the stove was off, the lights were off, and the door was locked.

It should be nothing.

Kim Cho-wan left only after seeing Sung Soo-seung sit down in the restaurant, feeling relieved.

Cheng Ya bought this apartment not long after she came to the new city. She originally thought it would be convenient for vacations. Later, when Jin Chuwan's house contract expired, the two talked and decided to move here.

Cheng Ya meant that someone would help her manage the house, and Jin Chuwan could also save on rent.

Neither of them expected that Jin Chuwan would stay for three years.

Time flies by. Three, five, or six years may seem like a long time, but when Jin Chuwan looks back, it seems like it has only just passed.

The bright red numbers on the display gradually climbed and jumped, and the elevator gave a notification: We have arrived.

Jin Chuwan let out a breath and looked up.

As the metal square cover opened and closed, everything in the view gradually became more open.

The apartment's corridors were quiet.

The man in front of me stood steadily, his head held high, his gaze downward.

The two were stunned for a moment when their eyes met.

This moment felt both unexpected and as if it had been a long time coming.

Jin Chuwan couldn't help but smile. She was thinking about her encounter with Yin Zhihua. It seemed that there was a certain talent between them, like something out of a novel or a movie.

They either fell together, met by chance, or are now just missing a "Goodbye" OST.

"haven't seen you for a long time."

Kim Cho-wan smiled slowly.

Before meeting him, she was clearly nervous, but for some reason, now that she saw the person in front of her, she felt that her worries were somewhat unnecessary.

His once delicate face had lost its youthful naiveté and become mature and handsome, but those stubborn eyes filled with resentment made Jin Chuwan guess that he was probably just bluffing.

She asked politely, as if nothing had happened.

"My house is a bit messy, but would you like to come in and sit for a while?"

At this moment, this popular star, who was the subject of intense discussion and speculation from the outside world, now seemed like a rebellious teenager, following closely behind with a sour face.

He was dressed the same as he had a few days ago: a black hooded jacket, a baseball cap, and a mask that almost covered his entire face.

I did take off my sunglasses today.

He had his hands in his pockets, his gaze sweeping over Jin Chuwan's apartment. When he saw obvious signs of other men living there, the gloom in his eyes suddenly deepened.

But he remained silent throughout.

Even when sitting on the sofa, he refused to look at Jin Chuwan.

Half a day later, he reluctantly read out a sentence.

"You're doing well now..."

Jin Chuwan was making tea in the kitchen. She seemed oblivious to the hidden meaning in Yin Zhihua's words and just smiled calmly.

"It's alright. I found a good job after graduation." She squinted her eyes as if she were reminiscing. "The main thing is that the salary is good, so even though it's a bit tough, I'm still very satisfied."

After she finished speaking, she sat down on the sofa.

The two were separated by a coffee table, on which were the recipes that Cheng Xiucheng often studied.

Yin Zhihua finally turned his gaze over.

She was still smiling.

But she used to never smile.

The young man's gaze shifted to her soft, long hair and the silver pendant by her ear.

"It seems that Cheng Ya's brother has taken good care of you."

He spoke with his head down, and his gloomy expression made his words sound somewhat sarcastic.

At this point, Jin Chuwan had already guessed what Yin Zhihua was misunderstanding.

She picked up her teacup and took a slow, deliberate sip.

Then he smiled happily: "I picked out this tea leaves at the tea market a few days ago. I always thought he was unreliable, but I didn't expect him to actually know a lot."

As she spoke, her gaze lingered on the other person's tense jawline.

Jin Chuwan was briefly taken aback by the result of the test, and she habitually brushed a strand of her hair aside.

I couldn't help but smile again.

"But these are all minor matters. You haven't told me how you've been lately. I've heard rumors that you've disappeared."

Yin Zhihua looked up at Jin Chuwan, but he seemed not to have heard her question.

"Speaking of which, I didn't even know how long you and your Xiucheng had been together?"

This interrogation-like and mocking attitude made Jin Chuwan very unhappy, so she continued to smile gently.

"Three months, it's a bit rushed and we're not used to each other yet, but we can compromise with each other over time."

These words seemed to have a special power; almost immediately, Jin Chuwan saw the man in front of her tremble, even revealing a hint of unconcealed hurt.

Those eyes, which fans called cold and indifferent, were now slightly red, and Jin Chuwan almost thought he was about to cry.

Realizing that her joke had gone a bit too far, Jin Chuwan composed herself and was about to explain.

But at that moment, Yin Zhihua suddenly stood up and said something that sounded like it was being squeezed out from between his teeth.

"Then I wish you all the best."

Jin Chuwan looked up at him, and after a moment she sighed helplessly.

"Yin Zhihua, I thought we should at least be friends. Since we're old friends meeting again, wouldn't it be better if we could be more peaceful with each other?"

But those words seemed to ignite a powder keg.

The man looked over with red eyes.

"friend?"

Are we still considered friends?

"I'm your friend, and you haven't even heard from me in six years. Tell me, what kind of friend am I? To be honest, Jin Chuwan, in your eyes I'm just an annoying nuisance. If I hadn't been bothering you, you wouldn't have paid any attention to me or wanted to see me at all!"

He took a breath and composed himself.

But his voice remained low and deep, almost like a roar.

"You've completely forgotten me..."

Even if I've been worried about you all these years, even if I appear in the most conspicuous place, you wouldn't think to come and find me, or even say hello.

"You're a heartless woman. You used to be cold-hearted, but now you've learned to be hypocritical?"

"Stop pretending..."

Kim Cho-wan never expected that her words would attract so much criticism.

She hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

"You're right, I have no conscience, I'm selfish and cold-hearted."

She said this and then smiled.

"So Young Master Zhihua can just disappear without a trace, while I did the same thing and I'm so hated..."

Those brown eyes were as beautiful as before, but sharper.

"What is our relationship? Are we lovers?"

"On what grounds are you getting angry with me like this?"

"Friends from back then?"

Jin Chuwan's voice was soft and calm. She easily pointed out his hidden feelings and expressed them with a kind of understated sarcasm.

Yin Zhihua closed his eyes and chuckled softly.

"Yes, we have no relationship. I was just being delusional."

After he finished speaking, he took a letter out of his pocket and slowly placed it on the table.

"Ran Xian asked me to give this to you. I won't bother Attorney Jin anymore."

Jin Chuwan glanced at the envelope, but suddenly stood up and grabbed Yin Zhihua's sleeve.

Yin Zhihua stumbled as she grabbed him, and with a cold face, he looked back.

Kim Cho-wan was taken aback to find that he seemed to be really crying.

But at this moment, she could only pretend not to see it and said in a stiff voice.

"Wait until I finish reading the letter before you leave."

Without waiting for his agreement, she grabbed his clothes with one hand and tore open the envelope with her mouth.

She glanced at it briefly, then looked up.

Actually, she and Ran Xian have maintained some contact over the years.

She sends birthday wishes to her and her brother via email at least every year.

Although neither of them ever returned.

It seemed regrettable, but Jin Chuwan quickly let it go. Overall, the fault lay with her, so she could accept Ran Xian's temper.

But not Yin Zhihua; she hadn't wronged him back then.
