Chapter 25
When Jin Chuwan returned home, she learned that her parents had moved out of the Jiang family's villa.
It has three bedrooms and a living room, plus a small yard. However, the new house is ridiculously close to the Jiang family's house; it's only about a fifteen-minute walk.
The previous landlord planted a pomegranate tree in the yard, and now it is bearing fruit, which looks very tempting.
Looking at the new room, which was almost a perfect replica of the Jiang family villa, Jin Chuwan couldn't help but admire her parents' memory.
Even the positions where the calendars are hung are exactly the same.
Jin Chuwan peeked into the living room. Her mother was knitting on the sofa, while Chaoyang was watching the latest idol drama. The girl's fascinated expression reminded Jin Chuwan of herself.
It seems that girls in every world are powerless against romantic stories.
Jin Chuwan suddenly felt a little happy; this ordinary daily life made her feel very at ease. Although she wasn't the protagonist of a story, nor did she have any unimaginable status or position, this simple and ordinary life was also beautiful.
Moreover, she has already decided which school she wants to apply to.
Looking back now, she realized that she had always lived in a daze in her past life. That home, which was like a battlefield with constant arguments, instilled both fear and attachment in her as a child. People who knew her always said she was too withdrawn, but Jin Chuwan couldn't do anything about it.
She only feels safe when it's quiet.
Thinking about it, Jin Chuwan hugged her cushion and sat down on the sofa. Jin Chaoyang turned her head and looked at her sister who had suddenly sat down next to her, raising her eyes in slight surprise.
The girl beside her had shoulder-length short hair, and her brown eyes were cautiously looking at her. It was a very strange feeling.
At least for Jin Chaoyang at this moment, this feeling is unforgettable.
The commercials on TV had just ended, and a new episode was starting. The two people sitting on the sofa watched the preview on TV side by side, while also subtly observing each other.
Jin Chuwan once again found Jin Chaoyang unbelievably beautiful, while Jin Chaoyang, though looking at the TV, was actually slightly distracted.
So she is... Jin Chuwan?
--
That evening, Jin's mother took her two daughters for a walk in the neighborhood. Perhaps because it was close by, or perhaps out of habit, they happened to pass by the Jiang family's villa.
Since their last parting, she and Jiang Chen had not been in contact.
Jin Chuwan subconsciously glanced at her room. Her parents had helped her move the house, and she didn't know if there was anything left behind.
"Mom, I want to go inside and take a look."
Mrs. Jin nodded with a smile, "Go ahead, I heard that Young Master Chen just came back today, you can go and say hello too."
Upon hearing this, Jin Chuwan paused slightly. She turned to look at her mother, but accidentally met Jin Chaoyang's gaze.
She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt there was a hint of curiosity in the other person's gaze.
Finally, she entered the Jiang family villa. The housekeeper was happy to see Jin Chuwan and let her in. After Jin Chuwan greeted him politely, she went directly to her previous room.
Although she had prepared herself, Jin Chuwan was still surprised when she opened the door. Even though she had moved out, the room was arranged almost exactly the same as before. Apart from the empty desk and cabinets, even the daffodils she had casually grown were still standing on the windowsill, seemingly still being cared for.
It must be Aunt Hui.
Jin Chuwan hugged her daffodil to her chest, then rummaged through the drawer under her desk.
There was basically nothing left, except for a hair clip that had been left under the table. Jin Chuwan picked up the hair clip and then casually put it on the table.
Just then, footsteps came from outside the door. Jin Chuwan turned around in surprise and saw the door suddenly open, with a boy standing outside holding a water glass.
For a moment, both of them were somewhat surprised.
"Jiang... Jiang Chen? Um, I just came to check if I left anything here..."
Jin Chuwan tried to explain, but the other person didn't say anything, just stared at her quietly.
It had been a while since I'd seen Jiang Chen, and he looked much the same as before, except that his demeanor seemed a bit more aloof.
Jin Chuwan thought for a moment and then continued, "How have you been lately? Is work going well?"
Cheng Ya often calls her to complain.
The boy's gaze seemed somewhat melancholy. He lowered his head, chuckled softly, and then nodded.
"I'm fine. How about you? Are you having fun?"
Jin Chuwan nodded, feeling both amused and exasperated as she recalled Cheng Ya's elaborate preparations. Overall, however, the trip was quite successful.
"not bad."
As she spoke, Jin Chuwan glanced downstairs and, noticing her mother was still waiting, hurriedly said...
"That's settled then, I'll be going now."
After saying that, Jin Chuwan left the room with Narcissus in her arms. Jiang Chen turned slightly to the side and watched Jin Chuwan run away. After a long while, he looked up and sighed.
Too.
How could she possibly come all this way just to see him...?
Aunt Hui, who was about to go upstairs to clean, happened to see Jin Chuwan leaving. She stood in the stairwell and looked up at Jiang Chen, who was still standing in front of the door.
"By the way, now that Wanwan is home, shouldn't we clean out that room?"
Seeing the boy's slightly furrowed brows, Aunt Hui pressed on with another question.
"Young Master Chen, should Wanwan's room be cleaned?"
Jiang Chen lowered his eyes, glanced at Aunt Hui who had a half-smile on her face, and turned to go back to his room.
As the door slammed shut, Aunt Hui gasped in surprise, covering her mouth, but her eyes crinkled with malice.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chen was lying on the bed in the room, agitated, and he raised his arm to cover his eyes.
Although he wasn't entirely sure, he had a gut feeling that someone had discovered his secret.
The evening breeze drifted in through the window, causing the soft gauze curtains to sway gently.
The boy lay on the bed. He was the type who was naturally serious and rarely smiled. It was only because he was good-looking and came from a wealthy family that people were willing to tolerate his cold temper.
He knew he wasn't popular, but over time, he still got used to doing things his own way.
No matter how unreasonable he is, there will always be someone willing to tolerate him.
However, some people do not do this.
By the end of July, the weather had started to get hot and dry, and the air conditioner was blowing loudly indoors, but Jiang Chen still felt irritable.
He didn't know when he fell asleep, but when he woke up and saw Jin Chuwan standing by his bed, his body stiffened abruptly.
"...You didn't leave?"
The girl in front of him was smiling at him with her hands behind her back.
The boy's Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he slowly sat up, supporting himself on his arms.
At this moment, Jiang Chen finally came to his senses.
He recognized that the person in front of him was not Jin Chuwan, because she would never look at him so gently, much less lean into his arms and cup his cheeks like she was now.
Jiang Chen slowly closed his eyes.
He knew it was a dream.
But when did these dreams begin...?
A gentle breeze swept through the quiet space. The boy's hand was tightly cupped behind the girl's head, and his body was tense with restraint.
when?
It's pointless to think about this now. He's like a thief, hiding a treasure he doesn't want anyone to find, yet hoping to be discovered.
No matter how much he hoped the 'treasure' would belong to him, the 'treasure' would not give him any response.
If only I could hide it so no one would find out.
--
After submitting your college application, you'll usually receive a response in about ten days. Some may receive it earlier, some later, but it's generally around the same timeframe.
Jin Chuwan applied to four schools, but she was unsure which one she would ultimately be accepted by.
However, she applied for the same major: law.
Because her previous life was relatively short, she didn't know if her choice was right, but compared to being busy in a company in her previous life, taking a public service position might be much more stable.
Or become a lawyer? I've heard lawyers earn a good income.
Although this major is not conducive to studying abroad, she thinks that as long as she puts in a little more effort, she should be able to overcome it.
The uncertainty of the future makes people nervous and excited at the same time. When Jin Chuwan received her admission notice, she calmed down for a while before carefully opening it.
T University.
Jin Chuwan was stunned. This was the last one she randomly added, and it actually got accepted?
Although it cannot compare to K University, this school is still a nationally renowned top-tier university.
So Kim Chu-wan was even a little flattered.
Upon seeing this, Kim's mother happily hugged Kim Cho-wan, and the whole family immediately decided to celebrate.
When Jin Chuwan saw her mother happily calling her father, she also opened her phone and started composing a text message.
This was agreed upon beforehand; we'll let them know the results once they're available.
Jin Chuwan sent the message to Cheng Ya, Ran Min, and Xing En, as she was also curious about where they had all gotten into university.
Could it be like the protagonist's law, where they both end up in the same school?
A moment later, Jin Chuwan's phone vibrated.
The first one is Li Xing'en, with the words "Congratulations" lying quietly above it.
After sending the text message, the boy on the other end of the phone dialed his father's number. His expression was gentle and calm, but what he said made the CEO on the other end of the phone think he had answered the wrong number.
Just as Kim Cho-wan was about to reply with "thank you," Sung-ah's text message suddenly popped up.
There are three consecutive lines.
"Ahhh, no—"
"I'm at K University—"
"I don't want to be separated from you—!!!"
After replying to Xing En's text message, Jin Chuwan thought for a moment and then replied.
"Actually, K University and T University are very close to each other; they are both in the same city."
Cheng Ya didn't reply this time, but Jin Chuwan tilted her head and received a new message.
"What a coincidence."
Just as Jin Chuwan was wondering what was going on, the phone suddenly came through.
It's Ran Min.
"You're actually at T University? Then you're in the same city as Jiang Chen? Why am I the only one at D University? I regret it..."
It seems that Ran Min has also been successfully admitted.
Jin Chuwan congratulated her while glancing at the admission notice in her mother's hand.
Although it was indeed avoided, it seems that it wasn't completely avoided.
However, friendships from student days often end when students are separated into different classes. If they go to two different schools, they will have even less contact, and then they may go to two different cities, or even two different places in one city.
Distance may not necessarily create beauty, but it can destroy passionate feelings.
Thinking about this, Jin Chuwan suddenly realized that she wasn't as happy as she had imagined. She took a deep breath and brought herself back to rational judgment. Spending a long time together would naturally breed feelings, so feeling regret was a normal phenomenon.
"If only it could just fade away slowly," Jin Chuwan thought, looking at the messages on her phone.
If possible, she hoped they could slowly forget her, just like when they walked together after school, stopping one after another at an intersection and naturally saying goodbye.
