Bai Xi stared with great interest at the two small teams that had come to her temple. One was seeking immortality and godhood, and the other was seeking wealth and power. They seemed quite different, but in reality, they were both driven by desire.
She thought for a moment, then vanished from the spot.
Ulysses followed closely behind, staying by her side almost constantly lately.
Although the thieves who had just broken into the temple were startled by the bats, they quickly mustered their courage and began to bravely walk inside, though fearful. Bai Xi floated above them, touched her chin, and suddenly her eyes lit up.
The next second, the temple's levels began to change, and before they knew it, the entire squad was led to the library.
Bai Xi watched them walk in with a smile, then snapped her fingers, closing the door completely and trapping them inside.
Since they came seeking power, they should have considered the possibility of paying with their lives. She's not a saint; how could she let them take the benefits for free? Only the strong deserve to live.
The alchemical golems inside can keep them entertained.
She then appeared in the statue square, with the huge statue behind her resembling her. Outside the corridor were the group of archmages who had come to pray for eternal life. Although Bai Xi said she didn't want to see them, they had gone through so much trouble and passed through so many mechanisms to reach the depths of her temple, so they should get some benefits.
In fact, all the traps and alchemical golems she set up in the temple were because of these guys who would occasionally break into the temple. Originally, she hadn't even bothered with these little traps.
Bai Xi sat cross-legged in the center of the altar, watching as the gate to the statue square in front of her slowly opened. Three figures appeared before her: an elderly human man over eighty years old with gray hair, an elf who looked young but was actually quite old, and a relatively young dragon.
She raised an eyebrow; she seemed to be doing quite well today.
The three archmages also saw Bai Xi's figure and immediately stepped forward respectfully, kneeling before her.
"Holy Savior, please forgive our offense, we wish to obtain the secret of becoming a god."
The overlapping sounds echoed in the empty plaza of statues. Bai Xi showed a satisfied expression. This time, they were very polite. Very good.
She was in a good mood and was about to give them a hint when, unexpectedly, the depths of the temple began to tremble inexplicably.
Bai Xi's expression changed, and she immediately looked down. The sound was coming from below; something was about to come out!
The familiar scent made her inwardly realize something was wrong.
Before the force could even break through the ground, Bai Xi leaped up, sweeping the three archmages away and levitating them in the air with magic.
The next second, a pitch-black crack suddenly split open in front of the altar, climbing straight up and encroaching on the statue. The three people who came to pray to the gods were stunned by the sudden change and had no idea what had happened.
"Monsters?! How could the minions of the abyss appear now?!"
Bai Xi's face flushed with anger. Having dealt with Tartarus for so long, how could she not sense the abyss's presence? She just didn't know the abyss's purpose in appearing now.
No one answered her question. Then, a large number of strange monsters began to crawl out of the crack. The largest one that emerged was a monster that mimicked a dragon. Its huge wings spread out, and foul-smelling slime dripped from the corner of its mouth. It opened its huge mouth and roared at Bai Xi.
"Hypocritical savior! We've come for revenge!"
Its voice, filled with intense resentment, echoed throughout the temple. For a moment, Bai Xi was so angry that he laughed. The Abyss, a mindless thing, actually knew what revenge was.
Ulysses, who had been hiding, also appeared at this moment, suppressing the horde of monsters that were trying to surge out with his power. He cleared out a large number of the monsters that had already appeared. Fortunately, his power was strong enough that he quickly cleared away all the overflowing monsters. Only the ferocious and ugly faces of the monsters and their attempts to squeeze out could be seen through the cracks.
The only thing that needs some time to resolve now is this demonic dragon.
"You think you can take revenge on me with this little strength?"
Bai Xi sneered. Although she didn't like this little incident, she was tired of the mundane life and always wanted a little excitement.
"Don't underestimate Tartarus's power!"
The ugly, rotting dragon's head was constantly oozing disgusting, slimy bubbles that dripped onto the ground. The flapping of its wings could shatter the walls of the temple. After all, this was a building constructed by ordinary beings, and it didn't have that much strength. It was easily destroyed by the dragon.
Bai Xi's face darkened. This place was, to some extent, her home, and now that it had been vandalized, how could she possibly be happy?
Abandoning the three archmages and throwing them out of the statue square, Bai Xi charged straight at the demonic dragon. If she didn't beat this monster to a pulp today, she wouldn't be Bai Xi.
Ulysses also joined the battle, appearing in a flash on the other side of the dragon.
Bai Xi nimbly jumped onto the top of her own statue. This was the highest point in the statue square, from which she could see through the dragon's form and pinpoint its location. Bai Xi didn't want to make a mess of the temple, as she would need to use it to resurrect her body later. If the battle got too intense, the place would be ruined.
However... after seeing it more closely, I found this thing even more disgusting.
Bai Xi sighed, a little speechless. The scepter of the supreme god appeared in his hand, and light began to gather at its tip. To deal with monsters, one must use holy magic; other magic is not very effective.
Ulysses' blood-red eyes lit up, and sharp fangs protruded from his lips. A blood-red light, like a mist, began to spread around him.
The progenitor of vampires at his peak possessed formidable power.
Bai Xi didn't take the dragon seriously at all. The dragon's huge tail swept towards her, but Bai Xi jumped lightly and easily dodged its attack. The dragon's tail hit the statue just right and smashed the statue's head.
At that moment, the magic power accumulated on the scepter of the supreme god pierced through the body of the demonic dragon like a laser, and a sharp howl immediately resounded throughout the temple.
"That despicable savior!!!"
The dragon's blood splattered, corroding holes in the ground, which pained Bai Xi. However, these could be repaired after the battle, so it wasn't a big problem.
On the other side, Ulysses manipulated the blood mist, severing one of the dragon's wings. The dragon's 'dark dragon breath' crashed into the altar, releasing a massive amount of white smoke.
Fortunately, the altar was quite strong and was not broken, remaining completely unharmed.
"...That's it."
Bai Xi smirked, looking disdainfully at the dragon lying on the ground. Its tail was pierced and its wings were severed. Once its 'Ash Core' was extracted, there would be no change in the outcome of this battle.
