Chapter 436 The First Appearance of the Divine Scepter

After confirming that Nophiel had ascended to the divine throne, Maggie breathed a sigh of relief. She turned around and finally had time to look around.

In the very center of the sacred mountain, a pitch-black crack emanating an eerie aura is visible to the naked eye. Looking down from above, it appears bottomless, as if it could devour all the fear in the world.

This was the first time Maggie had faced the threat posed by Tartarus directly. She was all too familiar with this aura; she had felt almost the same aura from monsters, ice mermaids, and even her beloved father.

"During the struggle for the divine throne, Tartarus experienced... and it was quite severe."

Maggie's expression was solemn. She had just seen the figures of Safis and El, which meant that when she left last time, the two said they were going to suppress the abyss, but they did not actually succeed. Otherwise, she would not have seen the rift of Tartarus here.

So... what was it that finally resolved the abyssal rift that even the Demon King and the Archangel couldn't handle?

Surely they can't be seven gods who have just ascended to godhood and haven't yet obtained divine authority?

Just looking at the speed at which the cracks were expanding sent chills down Maggie's spine. By the time they had received the power, the abyss would probably have already swallowed them and the throne together.

Just as Maggie was pondering this, El and Safis, who were struggling to control the expansion of Tartarus, finally came into her view.

Its two enormous wings, one black and one white, are hard to ignore.

Safis naturally noticed Maggie not far behind him. He took a deep breath and his confident voice reached Maggie's ears.

"Little girl, stop standing there like an idiot, run!"

His kind reminder startled Maggie, but she remained standing still.

"You guys! Don't you have a solution to this?"

She yelled back.

As her voice rang out, there was an inexplicable silence on the other end, before Safis's voice finally came through again after a long while.

"Then you should ask this useless angel next to me. He said to wait a little longer, and the Supreme God will descend and close this rift."

Safis's words sounded reasonably calm, but the resentment within them was impossible to suppress, and Maggie could clearly sense it even from such a distance.

El remained silent, whether out of guilt or stubbornness, it was hard to tell.

Maggie remained silent for a long time after hearing this. How come the El she knew was completely different from the El described by the former Demon King?

wrong.....

Wait, where did this god come from at this time? Is El joking?!

Maggie's attention finally focused on the most important matter, her expression freezing on her face. She subconsciously turned to look at the seven gods who were still shining and had not yet received their divine authority, her mind buzzing.

"Where did this supreme god come from?!"

She broke down, her words filled with intense frustration.

In the comics, the main god hasn't even been born yet. These seven gods are reincarnated and transformed into human forms just to compete for the power of the main god. At this point in time, where are we going to find a main god to repair the rift?

“You’re right, that’s what I think too.”

As Safis tried his best to suppress the abyss, he also exuded an indescribable dry humor. He chuckled twice, agreeing with Maggie's point of view.

"..."

Maggie thought she was really going to die this time.

Putting aside the fact that this abyss could actually harm her, if all seven gods were swallowed up by the abyss rift, it's uncertain whether she would even be able to be born in the future timeline, and the entire history would be completely distorted.

No, maybe the entire continent will disappear along with it.

"It will happen."

El finally spoke, his words filled with intense stubbornness, causing both Safis and Maggie to faint at the same time.

"..."

Maggie fell into thought, wondering whether she should run or stay and wait, though it didn't seem to make much difference.

After a long silence, a strange sound suddenly emanated from the summit of the sacred mountain, drawing Maggie's attention.

She turned her head and saw that the mountain peak, which should have been empty, had a semi-transparent scepter appear in the center of the seven divine thrones. However, it flickered, as if it would disappear in the next second, or as if it would solidify and fall at any moment.

Maggie's gaze was fixed on the scepter, for it looked far beyond the ordinary.

Surrounded by seven divine thrones like stars around the moon, it radiates an intense, sacred, noble, and magnificent brilliance that is so captivating that one cannot look away and desires to possess it.

Maggie was almost stunned, but when she thought about how she was in danger of dying, she immediately pulled herself together and turned to look in El's direction.

"The god you're talking about, you wouldn't happen to be that scepter, would you?"

Maggie used magic to amplify the volume, piercing through the clouds, so El could hear it clearly as well.

Even in such a difficult situation, he still managed to turn his head and glance at Maggie, and then...

El's unchanging human-machine expression seemed to freeze for a moment, before he stiffly nodded.

"Yes, it's the aura of the Supreme God, but it's not the Supreme God."

That's what he said.

That means the scepter is somehow related to the god he mentioned, but we don't know how much.

Maggie thought.

Safis's previously blank expression brightened, and he took a moment to turn back and glance at the scepter, his tone filled with surprise.

"No, there really is one?"

Even in such a critical situation, Safis's shocked tone almost made Maggie laugh out loud.

"Where is the supreme god? Come out and help us!"

Safis's eyes darted around, trying to find the unknown, never-before-seen chief god, hoping he could come out and turn the tide, but the next second he heard El's flat reply.

"The supreme god... has not yet been born."

He was clearly an angel who shouldn't have emotions, but Maggie still detected a faint sense of death in his words.

His hesitation seemed to tell others that he couldn't say whether he was in despair or giving up.

This left Saphis, who had finally found a glimmer of hope, petrified on the spot.

"Are you kidding me?"

Saphis asked incredulously.

"I don't think he was joking."

Maggie replied with the same blank expression.

Because what El said was true, Maggie already knew from reading the comics that the Supreme God had not yet been born.

It's no different from waiting to die right now.

"..."

An eerie silence descended once more, broken only occasionally by the sound of cracking rock layers as the fissures widened and swallowed the surrounding rock, creating a profound sense of unease.

It was as if everyone was standing on the edge of a cliff, helpless travelers.

The cliff kept shrinking, and everyone could only retreat indefinitely until there was nowhere left to retreat, at which point they would accidentally step into an abyss.
