Maggie was healed by the adorable Nesser and put aside her chaotic thoughts.
The world escaped a catastrophe.
At the edge of the woods ahead, a sea of white flowers dotted with pale yellow stamens bloomed before Maggie, as if the dawn had materialized and fallen to the ground, displaying itself before her eyes, leaving her utterly awestruck.
Maggie's pale golden eyes reflected the sea of flowers, and she widened her eyes slightly in surprise.
Nesser turned his head and saw Maggie's amazed expression. He didn't interrupt her, but quietly retreated behind Maggie, looking at her with satisfaction.
This was the first time he had ever seen such a view, but he still believed that a beautiful view was one that made Maggie happy.
"It is indeed very beautiful."
Maggie nodded, marveling at the wonders of the magical world, for such flowers were indeed not found on Earth.
The magical particles floating on the flowers are visible to the naked eye. Even with 3D glasses or VR simulation, this effect is absolutely impossible to achieve.
"Yes, yes, I'm glad you like it, sister."
Nesser sat down on the lawn next to Maggie, tilting his head to look at her with expectant eyes that seemed to be inviting her.
Maggie understood what Nesser meant, so she leaned down and sat down beside him.
The slanting sunlight fell on the two figures, one tall and one short. Nesser's gaze remained fixed on Maggie, not on the sea of flowers in the morning light.
"Sister, actually... there's something I lied to you about, although... I didn't mean to."
Nesser's voice was soft, as if a gust of wind could blow it away, and his tone was no longer cute and adorable, but rather carried a hint of maturity.
Maggie was a little uncomfortable with this side of Nesser, and she turned to look at him with a questioning look in her eyes.
Actually, she had a premonition when Nesser asked her that request yesterday, but since Nesser had never done anything to hurt her, she didn't investigate further.
Besides, if Nesser is willing to be honest with her and tell her what he's been hiding, as he is now, then it's not unacceptable.
Everyone has secrets. It's not that she's heartless; it's just that most of the time she doesn't want to get hurt.
“Nesser, as long as you didn’t intend to harm me, it’s not something that can’t be forgiven.”
Maggie also reassured Nesser, not wanting to kill him with a single blow.
"I never intended to harm my sister."
Nesser became anxious upon hearing this and hurriedly denied it, shaking his head vigorously.
"Okay, then go ahead and tell me."
Maggie now feels that as long as it's not something too shocking, she can accept it. She could even grit her teeth and accept it if Nesser told her that he was actually a girl.
It's just that a son becomes a daughter.
She looked at Nesser intently, having made thorough mental preparations.
"Actually... in a few days, it will be my coming-of-age ceremony."
Nesser hesitated for a moment, but after his eyes met Maggie's encouraging expression, he spoke firmly.
Then......
Silence fell over the air.
Maggie's expression went blank for a moment. Looking at Nesser's innocent face, she subconsciously felt that she had been deceived, or that Nesser was talking nonsense.
"Haha, stop joking, how old are you...?"
Maggie said somewhat nervously.
Actually, she vaguely believed Nesser's words, but she really couldn't understand the principle behind it. How could a child grow to 1.8 meters tall overnight?
"After receiving the blessing of the Mother Tree's coming-of-age ceremony, the elves will transform from juveniles into adult elves in an instant."
While Nesser was explaining, he was carefully observing Maggie's micro-expressions, very afraid of seeing Maggie show any dislike or disgust.
However, Maggie's entire brain went offline; the main unit stopped working, so there was no way she could have facial movements, like a stiff wooden doll.
"???"
Her mind was filled with question marks.
I still can't quite accept this, so I politely declined.
Maggie wanted to cry but had no tears.
She wanted to tell Nesser, 'You're playing a very new way of being an adult,' but she just couldn't bring herself to say it.
Those little details of her interactions with Nesser suddenly became magnified in her mind.
It's fine to put a baby elf in the picture, but it's a completely different story if you put a male high school student who's only a few months away from adulthood in the picture.
Then what's the difference between her and a pervert?
In her previous life, she was at least an adult. Even though this body was only sixteen years old, she never considered herself a girl deep down, to the point that she felt she had a serious moral flaw.
Maggie immediately reflected on her mistakes, believing that because she understood elves better, she took many things for granted, which made Nesser embarrassed to tell the truth.
I don't mean to blame Nesser right now, it's just that I'm having a hard time accepting it.
Or you could say she was stunned.
"Um...so you're going to grow really tall in a couple of days, right?"
Maggie pondered for a moment, then suddenly asked.
She was really concerned about her height. She used to have little Nesser by her side who she could occasionally pat on the head, but if Nesser grew up, wouldn't she become the shortest one again?
She really hates looking up at people when she talks, because it makes her seem unimpressive.
Maggie's focus was always so unique, and when Nesser heard Maggie say that, he was momentarily at a loss for words.
He thought he would be questioned about why he lied to her, but instead, she was concerned about whether he would really grow taller.
"Well, I don't know what I'll be like when I grow up, so I want my sister to see it as soon as possible, to witness it for me, okay?"
Seeing that Maggie wasn't angry, Nesser became even more emboldened and finally revealed his true thoughts.
Of course, he wouldn't force Maggie if she didn't want to.
"How can I bear witness?"
Maggie is actually quite strange; her affection for Nesser seems to be innate, existing from the very first time they met.
She simply couldn't bring herself to be angry with Nesser.
It was as if she and Nesser had known each other for a very long time. They might have been very good friends, or Nesser might have been a pet she had, or they might have been family or some other close relationship.
A vague, indistinct feeling was enough to make Maggie achieve this level of success, without even Maggie herself being fully aware of it.
Although Nesser had kept some things from her regarding the coming-of-age ceremony, no matter what, he did.
But she still didn't get angry at all; instead, she softened when she saw Nesser's pleading eyes.
And for some reason, when Nesser made this request, it seemed as if a voice from the depths of her being kept urging her to agree.
