Chapter 29 Dark Elemental Spirits

At the risk of offending Ulysses, Maggie is determined to acquire the talent for dark magic. Besides being able to protect herself with dark magic, she also wants to make a seemingly fantastical attempt.

If she, who possesses the Light attribute, can see the Light Elemental Spirit - Loy, then after she gains the Dark attribute, will she also be able to see elemental spirits of the same element?

For mages, the combat abilities of those with and without magic are two completely opposite extremes.

This contrast is particularly striking in her case, as she is a genuine Level 1.

"Roy, what do dark elemental spirits look like?"

Maggie suddenly spoke, facing the empty room.

She remembered that the wind mage in the comics wasn't human, but a bird, a bright green fluorescent bird.

Roy appeared with a 'bang' in front of Maggie, the tiny, white figure showing a thoughtful expression.

"They look more like little ghosts."

Roy gestured in the air, and Maggie listened attentively, their images gradually appearing in her mind.

It looks roughly like a teru teru bozu (a Japanese doll).

"Actually, we all think that what's under the white cloth should look like little skeletons, but unfortunately they won't let us see."

"They probably think the skeleton form is too scary. We're all cute, and they're the only ones who are special."

Roy nodded seriously.

"That's so cute."

Maggie chuckled, surprised that the elemental spirits cared about appearances.

"Do you want to learn dark magic? I can find you my good friend. He is extremely knowledgeable; in some ways, he knows more than even the high elves."

After saying that, Roy's expression suddenly became conflicted.

"However, he has a strange personality. He hates humans, so he might not like you."

Maggie never expected that Roy would take the initiative to help her find elemental spirits. She originally planned to find a rankless magic similar to the Holy Hymn to establish a connection with the elemental spirits.

The Holy Hymn can temporarily enhance one's perception of magic, which is why she can see elemental spirits after casting spells; such spells are extremely rare.

Dark magic had almost disappeared from the territory of the Temple of Light, and she was also worried about what to do. At this time, Roy gave her such a big surprise.

"It's okay, can I see him?"

Maggie shook her head, thinking that she might try her best, and if she succeeded, she could save time and use it to solve Zephnea's problem.

"Okay, Maggie, I'll go look for him for you."

After speaking, Roy disappeared into the air, leaving Maggie alone in the dark, empty room once again.

Through the window, Maggie's gaze fell upon the maze of blooming roses in the garden, where Pansy said the Queen was sleeping.

Vampires fear sunlight and rarely move during the day, spending most of their time sleeping, so you still have to act at night to catch them.

To completely bring down the third prince, the queen must be dealt with in front of everyone. And before returning to Santa Fe City, Arlin must be silenced to prevent Ford from discovering her actions, at least not for the time being.

It would be unwise to make an enemy of the archbishop now.

However, she still did not regret turning against Arlin. Those hateful maggots should go back to the sewers, as should that damned old man, the Duke.

"Sleep at 2 AM, wake up at 7 AM, even the King of Hell praises my good health."

Maggie rubbed her throbbing temples; the clock in the room was already past two in the morning.

The castle was quiet, and she still had her eyes open.

She moved her heavy body to lie down on the bed, and almost instantly fell asleep the moment she closed her eyes.

...

Maggie had nightmares all night and didn't sleep well at all.

One moment they were shivering in an ice cellar, the next they were being sucked of blood, their bodies growing colder as their blood drained away, and then they were being chased and forced to jump into a frigid lake, too afraid to move.

As dawn broke, Maggie struggled to open her eyes and realized that she had wrapped herself up in the blanket like a silkworm, making it difficult to even move her arms.

"I really overdrawn my energy too much."

Maggie gave a wry smile, gurgled as she crawled out of bed, and touched her fingertips, which were still terribly cold.

These aftereffects are unlikely to heal anytime soon.

Fortunately, the princes are collecting materials for the exorcism ritual as required, which will take a few days, giving her a chance to catch her breath.

She's been busy these past few days and hasn't seen Nesser much, so this is a good time to go see him during the day when she has some free time.

Maggie walked along the palace corridor, the morning light shining on her pure white, sacred saintly robes, as if bestowing upon her a layer of holy light. Her long, black hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall, and her pale gold eyes, like glass beads, were brighter and warmer than the sun.

Everyone's eyes were drawn to Maggie, even the knights training on the lawn and the guards protecting the castle couldn't help but look in her direction.

Good morning, Your Highness.

The maids bowed and greeted her with expressions of reverence and admiration.

"good morning."

Maggie responded with a polite and gentle smile, which made all the maids blush.

"Excuse me, where are the Holy Knights temporarily staying in the royal palace?"

She asked softly.

Upon hearing this question, every maid was eager to try.

At that moment, the head maid suddenly appeared and answered Maggie's question, forcing all the maids to fall silent.

"It's in the VIP room on the right side of the palace. It's very close to the training ground. If it's convenient for Your Highness, I can show you the way."

Maggie nodded slightly in agreement.

"Then I'll have to trouble you."

After she left, the maids stood there, staring blankly at her figure, whispering amongst themselves.

"How can Her Highness be so beautiful? My God."

"And he's so polite, he actually used the word 'please' on us."

"Don't you all think His Highness looks even fairer today, like a legendary angel?"

"Could it be because he didn't get enough rest?"

"Don't talk nonsense! Her Highness is blessed by the God of Light, how could she not get enough rest?"

Having broken through to become a formal magician, his hearing improved significantly, and he could clearly hear the whispers behind him.

She wouldn't care about the maids' gossip, but it did remind her that she should pay attention to her condition and not let Yarlin notice anything unusual.

A small oversight can have very serious consequences.

Roy didn't show up last night; it's likely his friends declined his invitation.

It seems I'll have to figure it out myself.

Maggie sighed quietly to herself.

The two walked through a complex corridor and stopped in a magnificent courtyard. The head maid turned around and spoke respectfully.

"Your Highness, we have arrived. Would you like me to prepare some tea and refreshments?"

Maggie nodded as Nesser's face flashed through her mind.

"A cup of rose tea, milk, and honey cake."

Nesser likes sweets and doesn't like tea; milk suits him better. At 300 years old, he only barely reaches her waist; he should eat more to improve his health.

Coincidentally, the forest god in the comic also loves sweets, and is extremely fond of them.

Someday in the future, Nesser might become a powerful elf messenger under the Forest God, participating in the final battle for the authority of the chief god.

Hopefully, she can survive until the end of the comic and witness everything firsthand.
