Chapter 81 Don't Even Think About Stealing My God

Eve, on the other side of the door, seemed pleased with Maggie's words and continued to chatter on.

"Hmph, I will believe what you say for now, but even if you are the Holy Maiden of Light, don't even think about taking away my God Lord."

As Harlan approached step by step, and with what Princess Eve was saying at that moment, cold sweat poured down Maggie's forehead, and her expression became increasingly tense, almost blank.

Just thinking that the person in front of her was the real deal made Maggie feel like ants were crawling all over her body.

Fortunately, the person in front of us has no memory right now. Once he turns back into the God of Light, he probably won't remember these little details, right?

As Maggie thought this, the awkwardness in her heart gradually subsided, and she returned to normal.

Harlan was now standing beside her, looking at her with a smile, which gave off an indescribable eeriness.

"Your Highness, rest assured, no one will take away your divine authority."

She could only turn away, avoiding eye contact with the person in question, and pretend she hadn't seen him, so she wouldn't feel guilty.

You'd better keep your word.

Eve's tone was full of threat, but then it became infatuated.

"As long as God sees me, He will surely bestow all His favor upon me. I am His most fervent and devoted believer."

Listening to Eve's crazy rant, Maggie was at her wit's end. Harlan could hear everything clearly and didn't say anything, just stared at her quietly, not knowing if he wanted to hear her continue making things up.

But Maggie, in order to prevent this somewhat dim-witted princess from causing trouble, had no choice but to appease her.

"Yes, you're right."

Maggie nodded twice toward the door, but quickly realized that Eve couldn't see her at all, so she could only stiffly stop moving.

She acts like this when she's in an awkward situation, as if she's lost her mind.

"Your words are to my satisfaction. You may leave now, you useless saintess."

Eve's haughty voice finally stopped her nonsensical rant, and Maggie breathed a sigh of relief, turning to leave.

As for Harlen?

She selectively ignored it.

But as she turned the corner and walked down the corridor, that tall, slender figure was still following behind her. In the sunlight, his figure seemed to be embracing her shadow.

Finally, before Maggie could return to her room, she turned away helplessly.

"Sir Knight, isn't it inappropriate to be a stalker like this? Isn't it against knightly etiquette?"

Maggie gave a forced smile.

Although she and Harlan had a life-and-death relationship, it was all based on mutual scheming, and Maggie didn't think they had any particularly deep friendship.

"Her Highness is even more blasphemous than I imagined."

Harlan wore a half-smile, his noble and gentle voice echoing in the corridor, nearly causing Maggie's expression to crack on the spot.

Oh no, she was too prejudiced and assumed that Harun was the God of Light, but in reality, he is now the Holy Knight Commander.

How could someone who believes in a deity secretly hand over the divine tablet to someone else and say things like "the divine tablet belongs to you alone"? She has overstepped her bounds.

However, Maggie quickly calmed down and put on a fake smile again.

"Legend has it that the God has thousands of incarnations, willing to bestow blessings upon every believer. Therefore, every believer has their own God in their heart. I am right to say this. I have never disrespected the God."

This accusation is too much for Maggie to bear. As a saint of light, to disrespect the gods sounds like a crime punishable by death.

Every candidate for the Holy Maiden of Light underwent a test of faith in the Lord, and each one was almost a die-hard fan. The original owner of this body also passed the test smoothly.

She's different now; she genuinely doesn't believe in God, and... she even often contemplates blasphemous images.

But it's not that she's blasphemy.

Maggie wanted to cry but had no tears.

"Oh? Is that so?"

Harlan's attitude was ambiguous, and his tone was intriguing.

"certainly."

Maggie readily agreed and turned to push the door open, but Harlan's voice came from behind her again, this time sounding much more serious and no longer casual.

"Ford has made up its mind to get rid of you completely."

As soon as Harlan finished speaking, Maggie's mind exploded. She almost instinctively turned her head back and forth in both directions of the corridor, and only relaxed after confirming that there was no one else there.

Then....

She turned her head and glared fiercely at Harlan, which just happened to reveal most of the room's layout.

Is this person out of their mind? Why do they have to say such things in front of so many people? She doesn't remember the God of Light having such low emotional intelligence.

Harlan wasn't angry. He raised an eyebrow and glanced into the room, a hint of mockery in his eyes, but his tone remained as gentle as ever.

"Does Your Highness wish to invite me in?"

Unfortunately, Maggie wasn't very sensitive to this. After thinking about it, she realized that the corridor wasn't a suitable place to talk, so she actually turned to the side to make room for Harlan.

"Come in."

Maggie crossed her arms and nodded her chin at him in acknowledgment.

Harlan looked at Maggie with a strange expression, glancing back and forth between the room and Maggie. He didn't speak for a long time, nor did he step inside. He just stood there blankly.

"?"

Maggie was full of questions. Wasn't this the person who said he wanted to go in?

However, she soon realized that the scene seemed familiar because... Perkin had had a similar reaction.

Wow, a second goal!

You misheard me.

Realizing what had happened, Maggie quickly stepped in front of the door, slammed it shut, and said nonchalantly.

"Let's talk somewhere else, dear Knight Commander."

As Maggie spoke, she walked straight ahead, not wanting to look at Harlan's face, and thus just missed the smile that flashed in Harlan's eyes.

"Yes, Your Highness."

Harlan bowed slightly to Maggie's retreating figure, offering a respectful greeting.

The trailing train of the saintess's dress swept across the pristine white marble steps, with the paladin following behind her like a guardian, assuming a protective stance. No one could harm the noble and holy person before her under his defense.

The two walked one after the other, the atmosphere so quiet that Maggie felt a little uncomfortable, so she spoke up and broke the silence.

"I heard that Your Excellency the Bishop... has recently assigned you many dangerous missions?"

Maggie's words caused Harlan to pause almost imperceptibly for a moment, but his voice remained steady and unchanged.

"Did His Holiness the bishop tell you that?"

Maggie was taken aback by his question.

"no."

She couldn't say that she had overheard it from the nun, so she simply left out those two words without explanation.

"Oh, it seems you heard about it."

Harlan said thoughtfully.
