The car's navigation system automatically planned the route back to the villa. Han Feng turned the steering wheel and drove onto the highway, the streetlights flashing across the windshield. He tried to actively sense the energy network—closing his eyes and sinking his consciousness into the area within his body where the Star Mirror was located.
The triangular structure formed by the three star mirrors was slowly rotating, releasing fine threads of energy with each rotation. These threads pierced through flesh and extended in different directions: the thickest ones pointed towards the Dragon Abyss Base, where the Reverse Scale Squad was located; two particularly bright ones pointed towards the villa; and dozens of faint, indistinct threads scattered throughout the city...
(Why is the connection between Liu Mengran and Su Wanwan so bright?)
The answer was almost immediately apparent—emotional connection. The bond between him and the two girls was far deeper than that of teammates. Curious, Han Feng gently channeled a wisp of starlight power along one of the "threads."
Almost simultaneously, her phone vibrated. A text message from Su Wanwan popped up: "What's wrong with you in the middle of the night? Suddenly pumping energy into my body!"
Han Feng almost burst out laughing. He replied, "Let's do an experiment. Will Meng Ran react?"
"She's taking a shower! Wait..." A moment later, a new message popped up: "She said she suddenly felt a burning sensation in her chest, was that you doing it?"
(Just as I expected...)
"What? I knew it was true?" Su Wanwan asked in confusion on the other end of the phone.
"I'll tell you when I get back; I've made some different discoveries."
As soon as Han Feng pushed open the villa door, the three girls' gazes shone on him like searchlights. Liu Mengran and Su Wanwan sat on the sofa on either side of him, while Dongfang Wantang huddled awkwardly in a single sofa, holding a cup of tea that had long since gone cold.
"Explain!" Su Wanwan jumped up, her finger almost poking Han Feng's nose. "What was that energy fluctuation just now? I almost crushed my phone!"
Although Liu Mengran didn't speak, there was still a suspicious blush on the tips of her ears, and her fingers unconsciously gripped the edge of the pillow.
Han Feng chuckled and tossed his car keys onto the entryway cabinet: "New discovery." He walked up to the three of them, a wisp of starlight coalescing at his fingertips. "Look at this."
The starlight extended from his palm, splitting into three thin strands. The two brightest strands automatically drifted towards Liu Mengran and Su Wanwan, merging into their bodies upon contact with their chests. The remaining strand lingered before Dongfang Wantang, circling a few times like a lost puppy, before finally returning helplessly to Han Feng's hand.
"This is..." Liu Mengran pressed her hand to her chest, where a warm touch still lingered.
"This is the shape I've displayed by connecting my consciousness with yours in my sea of consciousness." Han Feng sat down at the coffee table, very close to the three girls. "Through the network formed by the Star Mirror. As long as this connection exists, I can sense your state no matter how far away you are, and I can even remotely transfer energy when necessary."
Su Wanwan's eyes widened: "Isn't this just a human-shaped power bank?"
"Much better than that." Han Feng flicked her forehead. "If you're in danger, I can sense it immediately. And vice versa—" He showed the star patterns that suddenly lit up on his arm. "Look, Wanwan is angry now, and Mengran is shy; it's all showing here."
Liu Mengran immediately buried her face in the cushion, while Su Wanwan curiously tugged at Han Feng's sleeve to examine the glowing patterns. Only Dongfang Wantang remained silent, her fingers tightly intertwined.
"Wantang?" Han Feng noticed her unusual expression. "What's wrong?"
Dongfang Wantang forced a smile: "N-nothing. This ability is really amazing..." Her gaze fell on the wisp of starlight that had failed to connect, then quickly looked away.
Liu Mengran and Su Wanwan exchanged a glance. The next second, they both stood up.
"I'm so tired today, I'm so sleepy, I'm going to sleep!" Su Wanwan stretched dramatically.
"Me too. I didn't do anything today, but I'm just so sleepy." Liu Mengran had already walked quickly towards the stairs.
Han Feng raised an eyebrow: "Now? It's not even nine o'clock yet."
"You don't understand~" Su Wanwan skipped and caught up with Liu Mengran. The two gave each other a high five at the corner of the stairs, making a crisp "slap" sound.
The living room fell silent. Dongfang Wantang stared at her reflection in the teacup, her eyelashes casting tiny shadows beneath her eyes. Han Feng moved to sit on the armrest of the sofa next to her.
"They..." Dongfang Wantang's voice was barely audible.
"It was intentional." Han Feng chuckled. "Looks like these two girls already knew about us."
Dongfang Wantang's earlobes instantly turned bright red. She hurriedly got up, trying to escape: "I...I should rest too...besides, we're not really in any trouble."
"Wait." Han Feng grabbed her wrist, the touch delicate and warm. "I'm serious about the connection. As for whether anything happens, that's not up to you."
Dongfang Wantang stood frozen in place, neither daring to break free nor turn around: "But...but didn't we just fail...?"
"Because the method is wrong." Han Feng released her hand, walked around to face her, and said, "The connection of the Star Mirror requires emotional resonance. Between Mengran and Wanwan, and me..." He carefully chose his words, "we have a special emotional foundation. They were also on the path of cultivation opened by me using the power of the stars, but you don't."
Dongfang Wantang finally raised her head, her eyes flashing with complex emotions: "Then I..."
"So we need to 'study' it separately," Han Feng deliberately used this tone.
These words almost made Dongfang Wantang trip over herself. Han Feng caught her in time, and the moment their hands touched, a tiny spark suddenly ignited between them.
"Huh?" Han Feng looked at his fingertips in surprise. "It's reacting..."
Dongfang Wantang was also stunned. Just a moment ago, she clearly felt her long-dormant astrologer bloodline suddenly boil, resonating strangely with Han Feng's stellar power.
"Ah!" Dongfang Wantang exclaimed in surprise, before she could react, Han Feng swept her up in his arms. She instinctively grabbed the man's collar, the hem of her star-patterned robe tracing a frantic arc in the air.
"Han... Han Feng! Put me down!" Her ears were bright red, but her voice was barely audible.
Han Feng strode towards the bedroom, a smile playing on his lips: "Didn't we just detect a reaction? We need to strike while the iron is hot."
"But...but..." Dongfang Wantang's hand pressed against his chest, but the force grew weaker and weaker. When Han Feng looked down at her, his usually calm and composed starry eyes were now misty with tears, and his long eyelashes trembled like the wings of a startled butterfly.
The corridor lights cast their shadows on the wall, overlapping into a blurry outline. The moment Han Feng kicked open the door and locked it behind him, Dongfang Wantang's body visibly tensed.
