129 won by a narrow margin, but it was insignificant in the overall situation.

“Philnis, look! There’s a troop of cavalry charging toward us!” shouted one of the cavalrymen on the far side.

Philnis pulled on the reins to slow the horse down, then looked toward the group of human cavalry.

The cavalry unit was poorly dressed, their uniforms varied, and their weapons were all different; they didn't look like an elite force at all. However, their direction of movement was unusual; it didn't seem like a retreat, but rather an encirclement!

Philnis was startled. Elves were fascinating; even when their opponent was completely defenseless, they wouldn't underestimate them. Of course, this didn't mean the elves valued their opponent highly, but rather that their meticulousness and caution meant they wouldn't overlook any possibility.

Philnis pointed to the cavalry, his tone tinged with surprise, "Watch out for those cavalry; they're probably trying to surround us."

This remark drew laughter from the surrounding soldiers. In the days of fighting, they had never encountered a human army charging at them in open battle. They only dared to fight the elves when they had already formed their battle formation.

“Philnis, you’re overthinking it. They’re just running in a rather unusual direction. I bet they’ll run right past us like parallel lines and crash into our main force,” an older cavalryman said with a laugh.

Philnis smiled sheepishly. Indeed, believing that a human army would outflank them was just as unbelievable as believing that the human soldiers on the other side would put up effective resistance. No, it was even more unbelievable.

Philnis began to focus; he couldn't afford to be distracted. Although the enemy was completely demoralized, charging headlong into their lines would be suicidal. He began to command his soldiers to split into two groups to cut through the enemy's lines. This was a tactic they had used many times before: a cavalry unit would slice through the enemy like a peeling knife, drawing them away and disrupting their formation, causing chaos.

Although Philby didn't believe Yun Zhe truly had the courage to outflank the elves, he still needed to maintain his soldiers' lines. However, when he saw that the cavalry unit actually break into a line, circle around, and then return, he couldn't help but admire Yun Zhe's courage.

Because in his view, this was suicide.

Their formation was quickly shattered by the elven cavalry, and the entire troop line began to fall into chaos and retreat. At that very moment, Yun Zhe's cavalry had already reached the rear of the elven cavalry, splitting into two groups to encircle them.

"Watch out, everyone cover the left one! Chad, hold your line, don't let a single elf get past. Mobik, you guys stick close to me, kill!"

"kill!"

The human cavalry surrounded one of the elven cavalrymen like two hands, the latter being entangled by a group of Philby's infantry and unable to break through their formation in time. This gave Yun Zhe time and opportunity to compress the elven cavalry's movement space.

The elven cavalry realized they were surrounded and turned their horses around to charge at the human cavalry.

No need for further words, since you dare to fight, then let's fight! Philnis pulled down his mask and drew his standard elven saber.

Yun Zhe raised his arm, holding a crossbow in his hand.

"Volley! Volley!"

More than ten crossbow bolts rained down on the elven cavalry from two directions. Philnis dodged left and right, managing to escape unscathed, but his soldiers were not so lucky. One volley of fire felled five of them—exactly half.

"Change crossbows, fire in unison, fire in unison!" Yun Zhe gave the order again.

Another volley of crossbow bolts came, and this time Philnis was enraged. He charged forward, but his horse was hit by an arrow and fell forward. He then nimbly leaped up, but when he looked back, only one elf remained on the horse.

"kill!"

"Kill!" Both the elves and humans roared and charged at each other.

Philnis was cut down by the one who gave the order. Before he fell, he recognized that the person was not human, but an Aluru. He also recognized the sword: the Elf King's Sword.

"How ironic..."

The other sprite achieved a double kill, but that was all it could do.

When another group of elven cavalry broke through the formation, they did not continue to fight or seek revenge. Instead, they rained down arrows and continued to cut in the opposite direction.

Yun Zhe frowned, and then he heard a long horn sound.

Yun Zhe turned around and saw squads of elven cavalry appearing on a distant hill, numbering around two hundred.

"Sir, what should we do?"

Yun Zhe took a deep breath. "What do we do? Run! Sigh, remember to bring all the elves with you!"

The group was puzzled, but they still pulled the corpses onto their horses and began to move through the infantry lines. Thanks to the elven cavalry's earlier infiltration, a path had been successfully cleared.

Philby was also a man with a broad perspective. Upon seeing the elven cavalry force of over a hundred men, he did not struggle but directly ordered his soldiers to retreat into the woods.

A fight is out of the question, so let's try to minimize the number of deaths. Philby and Yun Zhe, though not communicating, were thinking the same thing.

But Yun Zhe and Philby were lucky; a fish even bigger than them appeared, attracting the full attention of the elven forces.

Serena's army.
