Xi Xi looked helpless. "Miss, no matter how powerful he is, he can't possibly give you several thousand people. You know best what the situation is like now and how to get through this difficult time."
Xixi rarely speaks so logically, or rather, argues with her so logically.
Serena took a deep breath. She wasn't angry, but Xixi's words filled her with despair and made her feel that if she insisted on not agreeing to the marriage, she would be extremely selfish and willful.
Indeed, given the current situation, what better way is there?
Xixi walked up behind Serena and gently hugged her. "Miss, if your family were still alive, they would definitely approve of this marriage."
Upon hearing this, Serena couldn't help but think of her brother and father. They seemed to have had similar thoughts before, though back then, those words were just jokes. Now, however, she was all alone, and she truly had to face that past joke alone.
Serena hugged Xixi tightly. She was now all alone and had no one to rely on. She couldn't even imagine what it would be like to be a wife.
She suddenly felt scared and nervous. She couldn't imagine her future life, which made her hug herself even tighter.
"Miss, Miss, you're pulling too hard..." Xixi felt a tremendous force in Serena's arms. She tried to break free, but when she saw Serena's frightened and confused eyes, her heart softened, and she let Serena hold her.
Yun Zhe put down his bowl, spread a piece of paper on the table, and began to write and draw.
Usa curiously leaned closer, only to see characters she had never seen before.
Indeed, Yun Zhe used the language he had before time travel to create a table. One half of the table described the possible scenarios for Serena after she got married, while the other half described the possible scenarios for her if she didn't get married.
This wasn't the first time Ellie had seen Yun Zhe write in this script. Although she couldn't understand it, she suppressed her curiosity and never asked where he had learned this strange script.
Yun Zhe wrote and thought at the same time, and after writing and drawing for a long time, he finally stopped.
Usa curiously grabbed the paper and examined it from head to toe.
Ellie noticed Yun Zhe's worry and asked curiously, "What's wrong? You're not thinking of persuading Serena to turn down this marriage, are you?"
Yun Zhe opened his mouth, then leaned close to Ellie's ear and whispered, "The best thing about marrying into that family is that you can survive, and the worst thing about not marrying into that family is that you'll be fighting a guerrilla war here..."
Yun Zhe's words were far beyond Ellie's comprehension. What did he mean by "the best outcome of marrying him is simply survival"? And what did he mean by "the worst outcome is fighting as a guerrilla"? Wait, what does "fighting as a guerrilla" even mean?
“You’ve all overlooked one point: Serena still has something now, but once she gets married, she’ll have nothing left—no land, no relatives, and no support.”
Ellie still looked at Yun Zhe with confusion.
“If Serena’s father or brother were alive, she could marry into the family, but not now! If she marries into the family, this land will no longer belong to her.”
“But once she marries into the family, this land belongs to her and her husband. They have no reason not to fight for it…” Ellie still wanted to struggle.
“Those who ask for something are valued, while those who give it away are despised. They won’t care about this land. On the contrary, if it causes unnecessary losses, it will make Serena’s situation even more difficult, and may even endanger her life.”
Ellie covered her mouth in horror; these words had truly frightened her. In her mind, marrying into such a family, even if not a guaranteed fortune, would at least bring some benefits. But Yun Zhe's words made it sound like her life was hanging by a thread, fraught with danger.
“But if she doesn’t marry him, just like you said, she won’t have a share of this land anymore,” Ellie said in a low voice as she shooed Usa out of the house and closed the door.
"That's the problem. What I'm not sure about right now is why the elves started this war. I don't understand their motives. It seems that getting married is indeed the best outcome."
Ellie frowned. "You...would you say these things? To persuade Ellie not to marry him?"
"It's hard for me to say, this is a complicated matter. But I will tell Serena my thoughts, and the choice is up to her."
Ellie was about to speak when Usa's voice rang out from outside the door, "My lady, Lord Philby has come to see you."
