The stars twinkled, a Milky Way stretched across the sky, and beside it, the silver moon curved into the smile of a young girl. Yun Zhe had never seen such a beautiful night sky. He couldn't help but stop and gaze at it, deeply admiring it.
"I have never seen such a beautiful starry sky before, it is truly magnificent!" Yun Zhe said with one hand on his horse and the other on his hip, looking very proud.
On horseback, Wood lies awake, only to be knocked unconscious again.
Inside the house, Yun Zhe looked around and found a wooden door leading to the backyard. After thinking for a moment, Yun Zhe nodded to the girl wrapped in a cloth on the bed. The girl had long chestnut hair, and even by the standards of Yun Zhe's world, she was quite beautiful. "Girl, when the servants come, just say that someone has kidnapped the lord's second son."
Seeing the girl nod blankly, Yun Zhe didn't hesitate. He picked up the limp Wood and walked out the back door. The girl had just breathed a sigh of relief when Yun Zhe returned. Startled, she wrapped herself tightly in the bedsheet again.
"Lend me the horse, no... I'll give it to you," he said, tossing a gold coin onto the table.
The girl stared at the gold coin. One gold coin was enough to buy three or four of their kind of horses.
Just as the girl was about to speak, that person, that Aruru, smiled slightly and disappeared again through the doorway.
Yun Zhe patted Wood's cheek. "Wake up, wake up, I know you're awake."
Nawood blinked and looked up at Yun Zhe guiltily.
"Sir, spare me! Sir, spare me! What... what do you want? I have money. My family has money too."
Yun Zhe smiled and shook his head. During their conversation, he had gleaned quite a bit about the current state of the world. The gold and silver coins circulating now were vastly different from those Yun Zhe had retrieved from the vampire's house. After all, a new dynasty had emerged, and the new dynasty minted new coins. This was bad news, but the good news was that Yun Zhe's coins were antique coins with a strong market value. Not only could they circulate in modern society, but they also held a premium. However, exchanging these coins might be a bit troublesome; for example, most legitimate exchange locations were only open during the day.
However, none of these were reasons for Yun Zhe to kidnap people for money. Moreover, Yun Zhe had no intention of kidnapping people for money; he simply wanted to leave this place safely.
Where do you live?
"Are you going to take me back?" Wood asked cautiously. Although he was the second son of a baron, he was still a sixteen-year-old boy.
Yun Zhe smiled again. That smile, accompanied by starlight, was quite difficult to decipher.
Wood naturally assumed that the man might be mocking him, and he lowered his head in disappointment.
"Openly kidnapping a noble's child will result in being stoned!" Young Master Wood gritted his teeth and shouted fiercely, realizing that his offensive with money was ineffective.
"Are you threatening me?" Yun Zhe asked with a smile.
Wood looked up at Yun Zhe, his eyes blazing with anger, but it eventually turned into a hint of flattery.
"I was just saying, just saying..."
Yun Zhe hated this kind of person and suddenly felt that letting him go like this was a bit of a loss.
"You know, I could kill you right now, strip you naked, and throw you down the mountain. There are plenty of people down there who would love your fat body. I could also fake it as if you accidentally fell off a cliff. In short, killing you would be a piece of cake."
A flicker of panic crossed Wood's eyes, which then blazed with fury once more. "Then you'll die too, my brother. I'll chase you to the ends of the earth and kill you!"
“I think your brother might be more grateful to me,” Yun Zhe shrugged and patted Wood’s chubby face.
Wood's face flushed red with anger, then he seemed to realize something, "Hahaha, you're scared, that's why you said that to lie to me! I don't believe you!"
Yun Zhe ignored him and led his horse down the mountain path. The path was lined with towering trees, their shadows dark and eerily frightening. If Yun Zhe were a normal person, he would never have chosen to walk on such a path at night.
Looking at the forests on both sides of the road, Yun Zhe suddenly became worried. In the novels of that world, there were always some natural enemies of vampires, such as werewolves and vampire hunters. They always seemed to appear in places where vampires roamed, and this kind of night, in the middle of nowhere, was the perfect setting to trigger such a plot.
But the surroundings were eerily quiet. At that moment, Wood's thoughts clearly reached Yun Zhe's mind: "This idiot probably doesn't know that following this path will lead him to my castle. What an idiot! People say Aruru are stupid, and it's true! A bastard is a bastard indeed. Hahahahahaha!"
Yun Zhe found it amusing, but then became worried. It seemed the Aruru people didn't have a good reputation and were often discriminated against. This would undoubtedly make his future life more difficult, which was clearly not good news.
Not far from where Yun Zhe was walking, two people lay in ambush: A Ming and A Liang, well-known hunters in the area. Despite their fame, it hadn't brought them any benefit; they had always lived a hard life and remained bachelors to this day.
But tonight, they're going to do something big. If they do it well, they'll have money, women, and their lives will be completely changed.
Ah Liang jumped down from the tree, frowned, and whispered to Ah Ming, "The person who came isn't right, it might not be him."
"Of course, they didn't send any signal."
"Sigh, I've been waiting all night, when will this ever end..."
"Brother, how about we pull off this one? Consider it a warm-up."
"That's not a good idea," Ah Liang hesitated.
“Brother, this isn’t the first time we’ve done this, why are you being so hesitant today?” A-Guang, eager to try, nudged his brother.
