Yun Zhe's words surprised Serena again. Although they sounded far-fetched, upon closer inspection, they seemed to make a little bit of sense.
Serena immediately frowned. "We must attack, or the soldiers will lose morale."
Yun Zhe pursed his lips. "Then let's fight. We'll come back when we reach the border. I think if my deduction is true, the Lunlang family will attack us again soon, or they will negotiate with us."
"I understand what you mean. I'll talk to them about it."
Yun Zhe bowed, and then Serena spoke again, "Do you want to go on this expedition?"
Yun Zhe shook his head. "I'll stay here. I'm not going. Wu Sha hasn't recovered yet, and I want to stay and take care of her."
Serena thought for a moment and reluctantly accepted this explanation. However, she was still dissatisfied with Yun Zhe's actions; in truth, she really wanted to join him in this pursuit. Judging from past experiences, Yun Zhe seemed to have never lost a battle—that was an obvious reason, of course. But in Serena's heart, there was also a hidden reason: she was also very curious about this Aruru man—why was he so powerful?
Serena glanced at Yun Zhe, then turned to the others to discuss the deployment of troops.
Everyone had heard Yun Zhe and Serena's conversation, and no one raised any objections. If everyone had calmed down, none of them would have chosen to continue the arduous war. The so-called discussion was essentially just Serena's one-sided announcement.
Yun Zhe returned to stay with Wu Sha, and the possibility of the war escalating further had actually disappeared. Yun Zhe didn't say something: "If they didn't plan to fight, they would never catch up with the Lunlang family." But saying such a thing at this time seemed somewhat irrational.
The next day, except for Yun Zhe's troops who stayed behind, everyone else set off in formation to pursue the defeated Lun Lang family's troops.
Gao and Caroline were quite disappointed that Yun Zhe hadn't been assigned any campaign duties. It was simply that there was too much work at Donic Castle, leaving them little energy to complain about Yun Zhe's incompetence. Yun Zhe didn't offer much explanation; his explanation was that it was a matter of trust—the Donic family's trust in him and his soldiers. Aside from that, his focus was now entirely on Usha. Ever since he forgot about Usha at the bunker, he had been filled with guilt towards her. Although Usha seemed indifferent, this only intensified Yun Zhe's guilt.
So Yunzhe has been staying by Wusha's side these past few days. Although Yunzhe has never taken care of a child before, he can still act as a storyteller, since he has so many stories to tell little Wusha.
And clearly, Usa wasn't particularly resistant to the strange stories Yun Zhe told. So time passed day by day, until one noon three days later, the army that had been pursuing the Tra family returned. But among the leaders, besides Nyrent, there was another person Yun Zhe didn't recognize. He was standing next to Nyrent, dressed in tattered gray clothes, with a full beard. Although he was middle-aged, he was handsome and had an extraordinary air about him.
Nyrent was clearly surprised that Yun Zhe was the one stationed in the castle. He jumped off his horse and said with a polite smile, "I really didn't expect to see you here. Where are the others?"
"They went to pursue the Lunlang family's army. Welcome back. How did it go?"
Nurrent was in high spirits. He laughed loudly, "A great victory! Tra is in the car behind me. He has already surrendered."
Yun Zhe smiled slightly. This result was truly beyond his expectations. Tra had actually surrendered.
"Let me introduce you. This is Blake. He played a crucial role in the successful capture of the Terra family this time."
Blake did not dismount; he bowed slightly from his horse. On the way there, he had already learned Yun Zhe's identity: an Aluru. Blake had no respect for Alurus; after all, he was also a nobleman, and Alurus were servants he often ordered around.
But clearly this Aruru was doing well, so out of caution, he still bowed.
Yun Zhe instantly understood Blake's thoughts. He was already used to the discrimination humans showed against the Aruru people. What he was more curious about was who this Blake was, that he could be on equal footing with Nyrent.
Faced with Blake's rudeness, Newrent awkwardly touched his nose. He wanted to remind Blake that the Aruru in front of him was not a slave or servant, but a knight of some standing. However, he wouldn't object if someone wanted to be impolite to Yun Zhe.
Yun Zhe waved his hand, indicating that he didn't mind. Then he smiled and bowed to Blake.
"You've worked hard, let me take you to rest," Yun Zhe gestured for Gao to lead them into the city, then turned and left the scene.
“Please wait a moment,” Blake dismounted and approached Yunzhe. “So, it’s true, you really are an Aruru?”
Yun Zhe smiled wryly, turned around and took off his hood, revealing pointed, elf-like ears. "Indeed, as you can see, I am an Aruru."
Gao glared at them, while Newrent looked at the two of them expectantly, without saying a word.
Blake glanced at Gao, a slight, sarcastic smile playing on his lips.
“I’ve heard some things about you, and to be honest, I don’t really believe you did those things. You must have some secrets. I’ll be keeping an eye on you.” With that, Blake patted Yun Zhe on the shoulder, gave him a knowing look, and strode away.
Yun Zhe narrowed his eyes slightly, suddenly realizing that Blake actually believed that someone was behind him, manipulating him, or even trying to get close to Donic's heir through this method to do some unforgivable things.
"Ha, I thought my vampire identity had been exposed! I was so scared!" Yun Zhe secretly rejoiced. After all, compared to the exposure of his identity, being treated as a puppet was nothing.
Yun Zhe didn't seem to care, so his expression was quite relaxed. This disappointed Newton, who was watching the spectacle, but given Blake's stance, it seemed Yun Zhe wouldn't have an easy time in the future.
Thinking of this, Nyrent's mood improved a lot. He mounted his horse and slowly passed in front of Yun Zhe, thoroughly enjoying the moment.
Gao watched Blake's retreating figure, spat on the ground, and cursed angrily, "Damn nobleman."
Yun Zhe looked at Gao with some curiosity, "You said he's a nobleman, do you know anything about him?"
"King Black, Serena's godfather, whose family were loyal allies of the Donic family, and ruthless merchants who sold swords."
