The 109 assassin? An enemy?

Soon, news of the vampire attack spread throughout the village.

Yun Zhe looked around and saw that everyone's expressions were complicated, ranging from fear and worry to a wide variety of emotions.

"Ellie, you protect Usa. Gao, you're in charge of protecting the stables. Lorraine, let's go check it out."

Clearly, the vampire attack had also alerted the newcomer, Hamelin. She weaved through the crowd and silently followed behind Yun Zhe and his group.

“Ms. Hamelin?” Lorraine noticed Hamelin. Was she going to go and see her too? She asked with some doubt.

Yun Zhe looked at Hamelin, then nodded. "Let her come."

Lorraine was even more puzzled. Yun Zhe had actually agreed; she really hadn't expected that.

Yun Zhe and his two companions, along with the village chief and his two companions, arrived at the scene of the tragedy.

The tragedy occurred on the other side of the river, where two rivers meet to form farmland and woods. The villager was apparently resting in the woods when he was attacked and fell there.

Yun Zhe took a deep breath, bypassed the corpse, and began to explore deep into the forest.

Hamelin took a step back after seeing the corpse, then stopped looking in that direction and started chatting with the village chief.

Lorraine caught up with Yun Zhe and said worriedly, "When this happened, it must have been still daylight."

Yun Zhe understood Lorraine's meaning. If a vampire could operate during the day, it would instill even greater fear in people.

"Haven't you heard about vampires that can come out during the day?" Yun Zhe asked tentatively.

Lorraine nodded. "I've heard of them. There are many stories and legends like that, but most of them happen in boring love stories. This is the first time I've encountered a vampire that can move during the day."

Yun Zhe nodded. "Let's go back. There's nothing we can find. If it gets any darker, we'll be in danger."

Yun Zhe approached the village chief and instructed him to find someone to collect the body. He then persuaded the village chief to hide the body again, leaving him no choice.

"My lord, please forgive my bluntness, but this vampire came during the day! What are we supposed to do with a vampire like this? How can anyone stay in this village anymore..."

Hamelin and Lorraine both looked at Yun Zhe, who in turn looked at the old man whose eyes were filled with tears and whose whole being exuded helplessness.

"Village chief, what are your thoughts? Please feel free to speak frankly."

"Sir, please take us away from here..."

Will everyone leave?

"Those who want to stay are people who have no hope left. Any normal person wouldn't stay here anymore."

“Village chief, I know what you’re thinking and I understand your pain. But, as you said, this is a vampire who can attack us in broad daylight. If we try to escape, where can we go?”

The village chief stared blankly at Yun Zhe. "Sir, sir, do you mean...? But sir, how can we, how can we fight against such evil?"

Yun Zhe patted the village chief's hand. "I've lived for many years and traveled to many places. Everyone I've met is afraid of vampires, but interestingly, this world is still a human world, not a vampire world. They are indeed evil, but they are certainly not invincible. You have to believe in me, and you have to believe in yourself."

The village chief's eyes lit up instantly, then returned to normal. Lorraine, on the other hand, was moved by Yun Zhe's words and filled with enthusiasm and confidence. He looked up at Hamelin, only to see Hamelin looking at Yun Zhe with a complex and amused expression.

"But what can we do..." The village chief calmed down, then looked worried again.

Yun Zhe thought for a moment, then whispered to the village chief, "First, we need to calm everyone down. Leaving now would be unwise. Then, we need to organize everyone and act together..."

Yun Zhe, supporting the village chief, continued talking incessantly. Following behind, Luo Lin couldn't help but wonder if Yun Zhe had anticipated this day. This plan, this preparation, was clearly not something that could be conceived in a moment of distraction. He glanced at Hamelin beside him, who seemed lost in thought. Hamelin's expression was intriguing; she appeared to be contemplating something, but it didn't seem to be anything pleasant.

"So, why was she able to come along?" Lorraine's mind raced, and a melodramatic possibility came to mind. But these past few days, the adults have been right under their noses—no, we've been right under their noses the whole time.

Hamelin's thoughts were indeed about preventing vampires from being happy. Historically, there have been many vampires similar to Yun Zhe, who put themselves in the shoes of humans, completely unaware of their own vampire nature. They helped humans fight against their own kind, even willing to sacrifice their lives for humanity. But it seems, it appears, that such vampires are all shrouded in tragedy, only finding happy endings in legends and dramas.

"Is it really wise to cooperate with such a vampire?" Hamelin was conflicted, and couldn't help but pray that the blacksmith could forge the fake sword as soon as possible, so that there might be a glimmer of hope.

Yun Zhe was naturally unaware of Hamelin's ulterior motives, but he was quite satisfied that he had completely persuaded the village chief to stay. As long as this was the case, his fiefdom could continue to exist.

But isn't doing this a bit selfish? Isn't leaving the best option? Although Yun Zhe was eloquent, he was conflicted and struggling inside.

"Perhaps if we just find this vampire and kill him, we won't have to go through all this trouble."

Deep in the woods at the other end of the village, a tall, thin man was looking towards the village entrance through a makeshift telescope. Through the telescope, Yun Zhe and his group were crossing a small bridge and heading into the village.

Beside the man sat a woman in red, her clothes stained with blood. Her hair was the same color as her clothes, while her skin was snow-white. She sat on a fallen tree, constantly licking her fingers. Her fingers were still stained with blood.

The man's dark skin contrasted sharply with the woman's. He put down his binoculars and glanced at the woman beside him. "Hamelin is right there. You guessed right this time."

The woman let out a chilling, shrill laugh. "I told you, that bitch Hamelin wouldn't dare go to the big cities; she's a master at hiding in these little villages."

The man frowned slightly as he looked at the woman's bright red hands.

"What, you don't like it?" The woman glanced at the man, her eyes filled with intimidation.

The man waved his hand dismissively, as if to interrupt the woman's gaze. Ignoring her provocation, he continued, "What are your plans? To kill everyone?"

“No, that’s no fun. That bitch killed my child back then, and this time I’ll make her taste that pain too.” The woman said each word slowly and deliberately. When she finished speaking, she chopped off a large piece of wood with her hand.
