With a clang, the sound of the King's Sword falling to the ground was heard, while the feathered arrow had already been reduced to dust by the energy impact.
Ellie felt a gust of wind brush her face, and then she felt Yun Zhe holding her tightly, his head resting against her chest, motionless. Ellie blushed instantly, inwardly complaining, "How can you still be in the mood at a time like this? If you're really that eager, why did you go out drinking tonight?" Thinking this, Ellie's face turned even redder. Yun Zhe remained motionless, still holding her tightly. She sighed softly, as if giving in, and slowly wrapped her arms around the back of Yun Zhe's head and shoulders. Then Ellie felt the warmth of his hands. She abruptly pulled her hands away, only to see that both her hands were covered in blood.
Ellie abruptly released Yun Zhe, whose eyes were tightly closed and who was too weak to stand upright.
"Yun Zhe, Yun Zhe," Ellie cried anxiously. She examined Yun Zhe's back, where his entire mithril armor and large patches of flesh had been torn away. His back, which should have recovered quickly, remained a bloody mess and unresponsive.
Ellie finally realized that Yun Zhe wasn't just being lustful, but was genuinely unable to hold back.
"Blood, blood!" Ellie knew what Yun Zhe needed most at this moment. She quickly picked Yun Zhe up and, with a few leaps, ran out of the castle.
Torches flickered at both ends of the alley. Gao, Caroline, Arthas, and Lorraine, along with a large number of soldiers, surrounded the alley. However, after searching the entire alley, they only found a royal sword, half a bloodied and mangled mithril armor, and two snow-white longswords.
Arthas stared in astonishment at the mangled mithril armor, half of it torn apart. Mithril armor was incredibly tough; what force could have torn it apart like that? However, Arthas wasn't too worried about Yun Zhe. According to Gao, a beautiful female archer had helped them; that must be Ellie. And there were two longswords on the ground—the assassin's weapons. It seemed the assassin had been killed by the two of them together. But where were Ellie and Yun Zhe now?
Lorraine and Caroline stared intently at the royal sword, for half a tattered piece of black cloth still clung to it.
“From your description, I think I can figure out what it is,” Lorraine said, staring at the black cloth and the traces left by the explosion.
"What is it?"
“Shadow Assassins, the most terrifying assassins in the Western Continent. They are efficient and expensive, and their targets are always the powerful and wealthy, because only the dead can afford to hire them. This assassin is not targeting you and Yun Zhe; his appearance can only be for one person: Countess Serena.” Lorraine’s tone was firm and left no room for doubt.
Caroline still didn't quite agree with this statement, but spending a lot of money to target a knight did seem unreasonable.
"Could it be that I was just unlucky today and took a knife for Countess Serena?" Caroline sighed and reached out to put away the weapons with a piece of coarse cloth.
A hurried sound of footsteps came from afar, and a soldier carrying a torch rushed towards Arthas.
"Sir, we have military intelligence! Jialai has been attacked!" The soldier, panting and hoarse, pointed towards the distant city gate. "The news just arrived, and the messenger is at the city gate."
Everyone was startled. Arthas reached for a torch, strolled towards the gate, and said, "Let's go take a look."
Yun Zhe vaguely sensed a sweet, metallic taste, the sweet aroma emanating from blood.
He opened his mouth abruptly, and sure enough, it was a soft touch. He then began to suck wildly.
One after another, until he felt as if he had come back to life.
Yun Zhe opened his eyes and saw a pair of concerned blue eyes.
"Ellie, are you... are you alright...?"
With tears in her eyes, Ellie shook her head, then suddenly hugged Yun Zhe and burst into tears.
Yun Zhe struggled for a moment, then gave up.
"What's wrong? What happened? Am I going to die?"
Ellie released Yun Zhe, her face full of reproach. "What are you saying? You were only injured by the Shadow Assassin's final attack. You hadn't been drinking blood for several days, so you just fainted."
Yun Zhe was able to move around freely, and then he saw five or six corpses lying around him.
Yun Zhe was stunned for a moment, then realized that what he had just felt was not a dream, but that he had really drunk human blood.
Yun Zhe looked at the corpses, all of them refugees. He suddenly turned around, "Ellie, these couldn't be...?"
Ellie lowered her head and nodded. She then added, "But not from Perth City, but from the wanderings around here..."
Yun Zhe let out a long sigh, then stood up with a wry smile.
He had now fully recovered, and the shocking wound on his back had completely healed.
A night breeze blew by, and Yun Zhe felt a chill run down his spine.
Yun Zhe checked his body. Hmm, there was nothing wrong with his body, except that his clothes were all torn and half of his mithril armor was missing. Fortunately, his Qiankun bag and other belongings were still intact.
"Yun Zhe, how did you know that Shadow Assassin would explode like that in the end..." Ellie asked in confusion.
Yun Zhe was stunned. Actually, when he saw the dark figure shrink into a ball, he thought of some movie scenes from his past life, so he acted subconsciously. But now he didn't know where to start when he wanted to explain to Ellie.
"It's just my intuition," Yun Zhe replied vaguely, then smiled at Ellie. "Let's go. I can't just show up like this again. I need some reasonable disguise."
Ellie completely believed Yun Zhe's answer. She followed Yun Zhe and asked, "How did you encounter this Shadow Assassin? Shouldn't he have gone straight to assassinate Miss Serena?"
"What Miss Serena? This Shadow Assassin is after me!" Yun Zhe thought to himself, and couldn't help but get angry. Who on earth is targeting me?
