Ellie shook her head in disbelief. "I don't believe it. Who would hire a Shadow Assassin to kill a knight in name only?"
Yun Zhe sighed deeply, "Actually, I don't believe it either, but that's what that Shadow Assassin thought. What can I think? I'm more interested in knowing who's so rich. If they have too much money and nowhere to spend it, they can give it to me."
When Ellie heard the second half of Yun Zhe's sentence, she couldn't help but chuckle.
Tonight was destined to be anything but peaceful. Shortly after Yun Zhe's encounter with the Shadow Assassin, shocking news jolted Serena awake from her sleep and Andrew, who was just about to fall asleep.
"Jialai has been attacked, and the attack came from the Ars family!"
Serena, still in her pajamas, sat down again in that uncomfortable chair, surrounded by all the current high-ranking officials of Pas City.
"Where's Yun Zhe?" Serena noticed immediately that one person was missing.
Andrew looked at Arthas with a puzzled expression. He was in charge of the city's defenses tonight.
“Yun Zhe was attacked by Shadow Assassin,” Arthas said, and Serena suddenly stood up.
“However, he and Miss Ellie should have killed the Shadow Guard, but Yun Zhe may have been seriously injured, and we can’t find them right now.” Arthas quickly said upon seeing the young lady’s reaction.
Serena let out a long sigh and sat back down.
“My Lord,” Lorraine stepped forward, “the target of this Shadow Assassination was not actually Yun Zhe, but you. Yun Zhe just happened to run into him and then eliminated him. My Lord, I suggest you immediately strengthen your defenses.”
Everyone looked at Serena. Arthas and Lorraine's words were both astonishing, but when heard together, they sounded somewhat terrifying.
Yun Zhe, that Aruru, killed the Shadow Assassin who tried to assassinate Serena? The most powerful assassin in the Western Continent? Okay, he was working with Ellie, but even so, the whole thing sounds very strange.
