Chapter 236 Concern Leads to Chaos

"Well, these things are bound to happen eventually, why the rush? Your wife is still young, I have plenty of opportunities." Heyue didn't take it seriously, finding her utterly devastated expression both amusing and somewhat regretful.

How could she not want that?

However, some things are ultimately beyond our control.

Soon it was time to tour the border regions again.

This time, Heyue and several of the wives of the emperor accompanied the group to the border region.

The sky is vast and the fields are boundless. The wind blows the grass low, revealing cattle and sheep. I have never seen such a beautiful scene before, and I am filled with anticipation.

The thought of not being able to attend Yuxiu's wedding added a touch of regret.

Yuxiu and the Twelfth Prince's wedding is in August, and she doesn't know if she'll be able to make it back in time.

On the way, Heyue was summoned to her carriage by the Eighth Prince's wife.

The procession stretched out in front and behind, with long lines of Eight Banner soldiers clad in their armor. In the very center was the emperor's palanquin, surrounded by princes and nobles in their Eight Banner armor on horseback. The women of the imperial family were positioned towards the back of the center.

Outside, the yellow earth grew increasingly barren, and sandstorms filled the sky. The road was rugged and uneven, and the carriage swayed and rocked. It was the first time Heyue had experienced how difficult ancient transportation could be.

This was the first time the two sisters had spoken in such a setting, and they both gave wry smiles.

"This is your first time accompanying the emperor on an inspection tour. You'll get used to it after a while," the Eighth Prince's wife comforted her.

The two of them felt a little better after drinking some tea.

When the group stopped to rest, a maid's voice came from outside. Liu Ye lifted the curtain and got out of the carriage. She came back up after a while and looked at He Yue: "It's Zi Yu from the Fourth Prince's side. She said she wants to invite the Thirteenth Prince over."

Heyue and the Eighth Prince's wife exchanged a glance and had no choice but to leave.

Upon arriving at the Fourth Prince's carriage, the Fourth Prince's wife had just put down her teacup when she saw her arrive. She smiled and pulled her to sit down.

"Did you experience any discomfort during the journey?"

He Yue shook her head: "It's okay, I'm just a little uncomfortable."

The Fourth Princess patted her hand: "You are frail. If you feel unwell, just tell me and I'll ask the imperial physician to take a look."

He Yue frowned; she really wasn't that delicate.

Seeing her embarrassment, the Fourth Princess smiled and tapped her forehead: "You are young and don't understand some things. A woman's body is the most delicate and cannot withstand the slightest damage. If it affects fertility, then there will be no way to regret it."

Heyue didn't know how to answer, so she lowered her head shyly.

Seeing her like this, the Fourth Prince's wife naturally stopped talking and changed the subject: "Were you with Eighth Brother's wife just now?"

He Yue nodded, but when she saw that her smile suddenly disappeared, her heart skipped a beat.

The Fourth Princess Consort was silent for a moment, then sighed: "You will come with me to serve Mother in a little while."

He Yue was stunned for a moment, then nodded, her heart filled with turmoil. Could it have already begun at this point?

Next, Heyue followed the Fourth Prince Consort to the De Consort's carriage.

Consort De leaned against the cushion behind her, looking somewhat listless, and she also didn't look too happy when she saw Heyue.

He Yue knew in her heart that in recent years, the Thirteenth Prince had become increasingly favored and would accompany the emperor on his annual tours, which made the Fourteenth Prince seem rather neglected. This year, even the Fourth Prince came out on the tour, but the Fourteenth Prince did not come along.

He was probably unhappy because the thirteenth prince had replaced the fourteenth prince.

Heyue really didn't want to come here to see her putting on a bad face, but since the Fourth Prince's wife wanted to drag her over, she couldn't refuse. She pretended not to see her, respectfully greeted her, and only sat down to the side when she was told to get up, keeping her eyes down and her mind at ease.

Perhaps because she couldn't bear to see her idle, or perhaps because she was bored out of her mind, Consort De would ask her to pour tea one moment, and Heyue would obediently pour tea for her the next. Then she would say that she was tired, and Heyue would have to rush over to massage her shoulders and legs. Then she would say that the massage was too heavy or too light. Heyue would grit her teeth in secret, but on the surface she would smile with a smile, and be very obedient and well-behaved.

The Fourth Prince's wife seemed to be neglected on the side, and even gave her an apologetic smile.

After finally finishing the massage, Heyue was able to rest for a moment. Suddenly, Consort De frowned and stared blankly at her belly, her face looking very bad: "You've been married for many years, why is there still no sign of pregnancy?"

He Yue's face stiffened.

Some time ago, she and Shisan were having an affair. During that time, she didn't take the medicine and thought she would get pregnant, but nothing happened. Later, she started taking the medicine again, so Heyue gave up the idea. She was even worried that she would get pregnant at first. A few days ago, her period came as expected, and Heyue breathed a sigh of relief.

Hearing Consort De's words, He Yue was extremely embarrassed and didn't know how to respond.

Fourth Princess Consort quickly spoke up for her: "Thirteenth Sister-in-law is still young, so there's no rush."

Consort De snorted coldly: "The Thirteenth Prince has always doted on her. Even if she is young, she should be pregnant by now. Not only is she not pregnant, but no one else in the mansion has shown any signs of pregnancy either. Why is that? Are they all too young?"

The Fourth Princess Consort was at a loss for what to do, and smiled apologetically at her, as if to say that it was all her fault for bringing her along.

She smiled reassuringly in response. Even if the Fourth Prince's wife hadn't brought her along, they would have seen each other all the way and she would have had to come and pay her respects. How could she possibly avoid it?

So she lowered her head and replied in a serious tone, "Mother is right. It is Heyue's fault. Heyue will definitely work harder and live up to Mother's expectations."

She didn't argue back, didn't complain, and was even submissive. But Consort De's mood only worsened, and her eyes glared at her like knives.

He Yue lowered her eyelids, appearing completely at ease and showing no discomfort whatsoever.

Consort De was speechless. Her brows furrowed, and she waved her hand irritably, saying, "You may leave. I am tired."

"Mother, please rest well. Heyue will take her leave now." Heyue bowed and withdrew. Once she got off the carriage, she breathed a sigh of relief and smiled broadly.

Just as I returned to my carriage and closed my eyes to rest, I heard a soft knocking sound outside.
