The morning sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, casting dappled shadows on the floor.
Yu Jiuyuan slowly opened her eyes. The cramping pain in her lower abdomen had subsided considerably, leaving only a faint feeling of heaviness. This was a sign that this "ordeal" was about to end.
She moved her fingers and could finally feel the strength in her muscles.
Turning her head to look at her side, Rong Shenghan was still asleep, his long eyelashes casting a small shadow under his eyelids, his breathing even.
He barely slept last night. He would wake up immediately at the slightest movement from her, reach out to feel her lower abdomen, or whisper to ask her if she wanted some water.
Yu Jiuyuan stared at his sleeping face for a moment, then gently traced his brow bone with her fingertips.
This person is always like this, seemingly gentle and harmless, but deep down he has a stubborn possessiveness. Yet this possessiveness is always wrapped in a gentle and considerate way, making it hard for her to resist.
She got up quietly and changed into her school uniform, her movements still a little slow.
The reflection in the mirror was still pale, but at least it had a bit of life in it, no longer looking like it was about to break apart a few days ago.
"Awake?" Rong Shenghan's voice, hoarse from just waking up, came from behind him.
Yu Jiuyuan turned around and saw him propping himself up on his arms, his eyes still a little dazed, but his gaze was fixed on her: "Why don't you sleep a little longer?"
"There's a morning meeting today." She picked up a comb and slowly combed her long hair. "I can't keep taking leave."
Rong Shenghan threw off the covers and got out of bed. He walked a few steps behind her, took the comb from her hand, and naturally combed her hair.
His fingertips occasionally brushed against the side of her neck, carrying a slightly cool temperature, causing her to instinctively shrink her neck.
"Does it still hurt?" he asked, his voice low, like a feather brushing against your ear.
"Much better." Yu Jiuyuan looked at his focused expression in the mirror and smiled. "Don't worry, I'm not that delicate."
Rong Shenghan didn't say anything, but simply combed her hair into a loose ponytail and tied it with a hair tie.
He leaned down, resting his chin gently on her shoulder, his breath brushing against her neck: "If you feel unwell, call me right away."
"Okay, Vice President Rong." She smiled, turned around, and tiptoed to peck him on the lips. "Let's go, to school."
Luxury cars lined the entrance to Saint Sakura Academy.
As soon as Yu Jiuyuan got out of the car, she felt several gazes on her.
Xie Zhecheng stood under a camphor tree not far away, wearing a neatly pressed school uniform, his posture upright.
When he saw her, a barely perceptible softening flickered in his usually cold eyes, and he quickly walked over.
"You still don't look well." His tone was calm, but he reached out to straighten her collar, which had been ruffled by the wind. His fingertips touched her collarbone, feeling its slightly cool texture. "Why aren't you resting more?"
“The student council has a lot of work to do.” Yu Jiuyuan looked up at him and gave him a faint smile. “I can’t expect you to do it all for me.”
Xie Zhecheng didn't say anything more, but simply walked naturally to her side and walked inside with her.
As I passed by the bulletin board, Yuan Xu was standing there, holding a thick foreign language journal in his hand, but his eyes were fixed on her.
"You're here." Yuan Xu pushed up his glasses, his eyes behind the lenses scrutinizing her carefully. "Looks like you're recovering well."
He took a small insulated bag out of his backpack and handed it to her, saying, "It's some brown sugar ginger tea I made. It's warm. Remember to drink it."
Yu Jiuyuan took it, her fingertips touching the warmth of the bag, a feeling of warmth rising in her heart: "Thanks, Yuanxu."
"It's nothing," he said, then looked back at the journal, as if he hadn't been the one who had just given those careful instructions.
When the group arrived at the entrance of the teaching building, Lin Yanran was leaning against the wall with her hands in her school uniform pockets, looking languid.
Upon seeing her, he raised an eyebrow, his tone carrying his usual arrogance, but without any malice: "I thought you were going to stay at home and live like a pampered young lady."
Yu Jiuyuan glanced at him sideways: "What, does Director Lin really want me not to come?"
Lin Yanran scoffed and straightened up: "The student council is piled up with work. If you don't come soon, I might have to resign."
Even so, he followed her without hesitation, walking on her other side, flanking Xie Zhecheng like two bodyguards.
Yu Jiuyuan was protected in the middle by them, listening to Xie Zhecheng report on the work of the student council in a low voice. Yuan Xu occasionally interjected with a suggestion on the event planning, while Lin Yanran would occasionally make a sarcastic remark. The lingering feeling of pain in her heart was gradually dispelled by the lively atmosphere.
She knew that these people, though seemingly different in personality, were all caring for her in their own ways.
Xie Zhecheng's introverted nature, Yuan Xu's meticulousness, Lin Yanran's awkwardness, and Rong Shenghan's gentleness... they are like planets orbiting her, following a tacit trajectory.
And she enjoyed the feeling of being surrounded by people.
When they reached the stairwell, Rong Shenghan came down from upstairs, clearly waiting there on purpose.
Seeing the group surrounding Yu Jiuyuan, a faint smile flashed in his eyes. He stepped forward and naturally took her hand.
"The morning meeting is about to start." He looked at Yu Jiuyuan and said in a gentle tone, "I'll take you to the office to get the documents first."
Xie Zhecheng and the others stopped and watched their departing figures without saying anything.
Yu Jiuyuan was pulled upstairs by Rong Shenghan, and she could feel several gazes fixed on her back.
She turned around and met Xie Zhecheng and the others' gaze, then waved to them.
"They seem very worried about you," Rong Shenghan's voice rang in my ears.
"Mmm." Yu Jiuyuan responded, took his hand in her own, and stroked the ring on his ring finger with her fingertips.
“Tonight…” she drawled, turning her head to look at him, a sly glint in her eyes, “I’ll make it up to you.”
Rong Shenghan looked down at her. Sunlight streamed through the corridor window and fell on her face, gilding her pale cheeks with a faint golden hue.
He smiled, said nothing, and simply tightened his grip on her hand.
He knew what she meant.
This was their unspoken understanding, and also her way of comforting him. No matter who she was with or what she did during the day, when she returned to the master bedroom at night, she belonged only to him.
The breeze in the stairwell was warm, brushing against my cheeks as softly as a feather.
Yu Jiuyuan looked up at Rong Shenghan's profile, and seeing his eyelashes illuminated by the sunlight, she suddenly felt that this torturous menstrual cramps might not be entirely without benefits.
At least, it made her see more clearly the concern in these people's eyes.
She was quite pleased with this attentiveness that had been "tamed" and made obedient.
The spring sun was shining brightly, and everything was developing in the direction she wanted.
