Chapter 197 Stealing a Fleeting Life

Yu Jiuyuan fiddled with the buttons on his shirt, thought for a moment, and said, "Let's go to the horse farm in the suburbs. It's been a long time since I rode a horse."

There was a private horse farm near St. Sakura Academy that she used to frequent, but she stopped going after getting busy.

Rong Shenghan had no objection and got up to change his clothes.

When Yu Jiuyuan went back to her room to find riding clothes, she saw a new white equestrian outfit hanging in the closet. It was the perfect size and was obviously prepared by Rong Shenghan.

She picked up the riding outfit, her fingertips tracing the fabric, a faint smile playing on her lips.

This man is always like this; he seems indifferent to everything, yet he remembers her preferences perfectly.

The wind at the horse farm carries the scent of fresh grass, making one feel refreshed.

Yu Jiuyuan rode her "Snow Shadow" slowly along the track, while Rong Shenghan rode a black steed beside her. Neither of them spoke, yet there was a strange tacit understanding between them.

After running two laps, Yu Jiuyuan reined in the reins, and Xueying snorted and lowered her head to nibble on the grass on the ground.

Rong Shenghan rode up to her side and reached out to tidy her wind-blown hair: "Are you tired?"

"A little." Yu Jiuyuan smiled. "I haven't exercised in a long time, and my stamina isn't what it used to be."

She dismounted, and Rong Shenghan followed suit, naturally taking the reins from her hand, handing the two horses to the groom, and then taking her hand as they strolled slowly along the path at the edge of the horse farm.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.

Yu Jiuyuan looked at their clasped hands, suddenly stopped, and looked up at him: "Rong Shenghan, do you think we look like an ordinary couple?"

Rong Shenghan paused for a moment, then smiled, his smile brighter than the sunshine: "Doesn't seem like it."

"Um?"

“Ordinary couples don’t have three ‘roommates’ waiting in a villa.”

He squeezed her hand, his tone tinged with barely perceptible jealousy, "No one will be thinking about how to snatch you away from someone else when you're relaxed."

Yu Jiuyuan was amused by him, and tiptoed to give him a light peck on the lips: "But I will only come back with you tonight."

That's enough.

These words were like a magic spell, instantly soothing all of Rong Shenghan's unease.

He lowered his head and kissed her, deepening the kiss with the warmth of the sun, the scent of grass, and his unique, intense possessiveness.

He only let go of her when they were both a little out of breath, pressing his forehead against hers: "What do you want to eat tonight? I'll make it for you."

"Whatever you do is fine." Yu Jiuyuan leaned against him, listening to his strong heartbeat, and felt that this rare moment of relaxation was so precious that she wanted to hold onto it forever.

When they returned to the villa in the evening, Xie Zhecheng and Yuan Xu were both there, and Lin Yanran had also returned, carrying a beautifully packaged box, saying it was a snack she had bought for her.

Dinner was plentiful. Xie Zhecheng made his specialty steak, Yuan Xu stewed soup, Lin Yanran laid out the snacks she had bought on the table, and Rong Shenghan cooked several of her favorite home-style dishes.

Yu Jiuyuan sat in the main seat, watching their busy figures, and suddenly felt that the atmosphere of life in this villa was much warmer than she had imagined.

She knew that this relaxation was only temporary. When she woke up tomorrow, she would still have to face the trivial matters of the student council, the heavy burden of the Yu family, and all the troubles that she needed to deal with one by one.

But at least for now, she can temporarily shed all her armor and be a pampered young lady cherished by others.

In the stillness of the night, Yu Jiuyuan leaned against Rong Shenghan's chest, listening to his steady breathing.

The moonlight outside the window was bright, illuminating his sleeping profile.

"Rong Shenghan," she said softly, her voice as light as a dream, "thank you."

Thank you for providing her with a safe haven during the chaos of her life.

Thank you for letting her, a calculating egoist, experience what it's like to be valued.

Rong Shenghan didn't seem to be awake, but he subconsciously hugged her tighter and placed a light kiss on the top of her head, as if in response to her words.

Yu Jiuyuan smiled and closed her eyes.

Tomorrow will be busy, but that's okay.

As long as she can return here at night, back to his arms, she will have enough strength to face everything in this world.

This was the best comfort she could give herself, and also the most unique privilege she could give Rong Shenghan.
