After the college entrance examination, Li Jia took Li Xiaotong, Hai Mingyue and Jiang Ling bungee jumping. While her relationship with Hai Mingyue warmed up, a subtle relationship developed between her and Jiang Ling. During the process, she also saved a woman named Guo Lan, but Li Jia didn't pay much attention to it.
The next day, after washing up, Li Jia went back to her room, got dressed, made a phone call to her uncle's house to say hello, chatted with Li Yan and the others for a few minutes, and then hung up to go out.
"Help!" A scream came from the door of her shop. Li Jia hurriedly ran from the second floor to the first floor. The door was pushed open, and Chen Yi screamed and ran into the shop. After seeing Li Jia, she immediately ran behind Li Jia and hid. Behind Chen Yi, three big men who looked like bodyguards also pushed open the door and entered the dry cleaning shop.
"Brother Li, they're trying to kidnap me!" Chen Yi said immediately when she saw the people coming in, but there was no fear on her face. Instead, she spoke to Li Jia angrily, like a child tattling, and then glared at the three people who came in.
"Hello, what brings you three here?" Li Jia had a rough idea of what was going on, so she immediately stepped forward and greeted them politely.
"Get out of our way! Don't interfere with our business." Li Jia was polite, but that didn't mean the big man was polite. The master had given a death order: even if they had to tie her up, they had to take the young lady back to him. But clearly, Chen Yi was no pushover. She had escaped from the men's hands time and time again, and this time she simply ran to Li Jia's shop to seek refuge.
Hearing the three men's arrogant tone, Li Jia immediately smiled. "Hehe, gentlemen, you come to my shop and tell me, the shop owner, to get lost. Do you want to take over my shop too?" It had been a long time since anyone had been so arrogant in front of Li Jia. She suddenly felt that occasionally having such a small incident to spice up her otherwise mundane life was a kind of fun.
Originally, Li Jia had thought that if it was Chen Yi's family sending someone to find her, she could politely escort Chen Yi back herself and let the matter drop. However, she hadn't expected Chen Yi to actually provoke the three burly men. Having repeatedly let Chen Yi slip away from them, they couldn't fight back or even yell at her. Coming to this dry cleaner just happened to run into someone who looked like an easy target, so they figured they could vent their anger there. Therefore, Li Jia's politeness didn't elicit a good response from the three men. The leader, with a fierce expression and glaring eyes, glared at Li Jia and immediately launched into a tirade.
Li Jia's smile did not soften the men's menacing tone. The man in front even reached out to push Li Jia aside. Li Jia grabbed his wrist. "You want to arrest someone in my shop? You need to give me a reason, right? She's my friend. You come in without saying a word and start arresting people. Do you believe I'll throw you all out?"
"I'll say it again, get out of here! If you don't want to be crippled, get out of here now. We don't have time to waste on your nonsense!" The burly man, speaking with a strong Northeastern accent, tried to pull his fist back, but seeing the calm smile on Li Jia's face, he suddenly realized that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't break free from the well-mannered man's grasp. After a few tugs of the fist, the burly man's temper finally flared, and his right hand suddenly swung out, aiming a slap at Li Feng's face.
Seeing the burly man's swiftly descending slap, a cold glint flashed in Li Jia's eyes. She gripped the man's wrist with her left hand and suddenly tightened her grip, a chilling sound of bones cracking reaching the ears of those around her. The burly man's right hand, which had been swinging towards Li Feng, stopped abruptly mid-strike. Cold sweat poured from his forehead with a muffled groan.
"Get out! Don't ever show your face around my shop again." Li Jia released the burly man's twisted wrist, his smile vanishing. A cold glint flashed in his deep eyes as he stared at the three men and spoke calmly.
The other two burly men wanted to step forward and make a move, but were stopped by the man with the twisted wrist. He looked back at Li Jia's face, then at the smug Chen Yi, and said, "Go! Get out of here!" After saying that, he held his wrist with one hand, gritted his teeth and endured the excruciating pain that shot from his wrist to his brain, and walked out of the dry cleaner with his pale face covered in sweat.
"Tell me, what happened?" Li Jia turned to look at Chen Yi, her face now bearing a faint smile.
"Wait!" Chen Yi said, running to the shop entrance. After looking around, she ran up to Li Jia. "I knew Brother Li could chase those three annoying guys away! Brother Li! You're amazing!" Instead of getting to the point, Chen Yi stared at Li Jia's hands with great interest.
"Let's get down to business. If you don't explain what happened clearly, I won't help you anymore." Li Jia looked at Chen Yi with a serious expression.
"Okay, so the thing is, my dad wanted me to work at his company during the summer vacation to get some experience. After I graduate from university, he'll give me a branch manager position so I can gradually take over his company. But I don't like it! I don't want to see those people's faces every day, so I ran away. And after running around, I ended up here with you." Chen Yi sat down leisurely in the lounge area, then crossed her legs and sat on the sofa.
"Okay, you've passed. But since your dad wants you to take over the business, why don't you go for it? Many people would love to do that." Li Jia sat down next to Chen Yi and said with a smile.
"Tch! I just don't like working in a company, otherwise I wouldn't have gone to study music. I even ran away from home once because of what I wanted to study in college. Now that I'm about to graduate, he wants me to manage his company. I'm not going! He and that little fox can just have a baby themselves!" Chen Yi muttered.
"So what are your plans? To keep running away?" Li Jia asked, looking at Chen Yi's somewhat complicated expression.
“What are my plans? Hmm… I’ve got it! I want to work here! I’ll stay at your shop until school starts, and I can live here too! You don’t have to pay me a salary, just let me stay here! I’ll leave after school starts and go back to school! What do you say, Brother Li?” Chen Yi looked around and saw Zhou Xiaoyu’s busy figure behind the counter. Suddenly an idea popped into her head, and she spoke it out.
"Uh... okay!" Li Jia looked at Chen Yi's expression and couldn't bring herself to refuse, so she could only agree to her vaguely.
"Yay! Thank you, Brother Li!" Chen Yi jumped up from the sofa and ran to Zhou Xiaoyu. "Xiaoyu, Xiaoyu, we're colleagues now, please take care of me!" After saying that, she ran upstairs and started looking for her room.
Seeing Chen Yi's hurried manner, Li Jia couldn't help but smile. Then she got up and went upstairs to the second floor, handing over the last vacant bedroom to Chen Yi. She also briefly explained the reason to Meng Yao. Chen Yi happily greeted Meng Yao. Just like that, Li Jia's house was fully occupied, and the days that followed were truly lively.
