Chapter 105 Shadows in the Amusement Park
The Ferris wheel in the amusement park slowly rotated, offering a panoramic view of the city. Lan Jingyi leaned against the glass and screamed. Jin Ling crossed his arms, feigning composure, but the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up. Si Zhui sat in the middle, watching the two playfully, his eyes filled with laughter.
Wei Wuxian held up his camera and took pictures non-stop. Lan Wangji stood beside him, his eyes occasionally falling on the three children, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the phone - the bodyguards he arranged were not far away, and their eyes never left them.
"Let's go ride the roller coaster!" Lan Jingyi said excitedly, "I heard that's the most thrilling!"
Jin Ling snorted, "Whoever doesn't dare is a puppy."
Si Zhui smiled and nodded: "Okay."
After getting off the Ferris wheel, Wei Wuxian bought some cotton candy and shared it with them. Lan Jingyi ran ahead, holding a pink cotton candy, while Jin Ling followed behind, biting a blue cotton candy. Si Zhui was about to catch up when Wei Wuxian pulled him back.
"Follow closely and don't run around." Wei Wuxian warned, his eyes sweeping over the bustling crowd around him, feeling a little uneasy.
"Got it." Si Zhui nodded. Just as he took two steps, he heard Lan Jingyi yelling, "Where's Jin Ling? He was here just now!"
A few people's hearts skipped a beat, and when they looked back, they saw only a crowd of people behind them, but no sign of Jin Ling.
"Jin Ling! Jin Ling!" Wei Wuxian shouted loudly, walked back quickly, and searched the crowd anxiously.
Lan Wangji immediately pulled out his phone: "I'll contact the bodyguards and have them seal off the exit." His voice was steady, but his hands were trembling slightly. The amusement park was crowded with people, and Jin Ling had a proud and arrogant personality. What if he was taken away...
Si Zhui and Lan Jingyi also looked around, calling Jin Ling's name. Lan Jingyi was so anxious that he almost cried: "It's all my fault, I shouldn't have run so fast just now!"
"It's none of your business." Si Zhui patted his shoulder and tried to calm himself down. "Jin Ling might have gone to buy ice cream. Let's go over there and take a look."
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji looked at each other and saw worry in each other's eyes.
“Jingyi, Sizhui, wait here. Don’t wander off. We’ll go look for him.” Wei Wuxian tried to sound calm. “Keep your phone open. I’ll contact you as soon as I have any news.”
Lan Jingyi nodded, his eyes red. Sizhui also nodded: "Okay, be careful."
Watching Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji hurriedly leave, Lan Jingyi tugged at Sizhui's clothes and said, "Sizhui, is Jin Ling going to be in trouble?"
"No," Si Zhui consoled him, but he felt increasingly uneasy. He knew that although Jin Ling was a proud and arrogant person, he never wandered around. How could he suddenly disappear?
They waited there for ten minutes, but the phone remained silent. Sizhui looked at his watch, the ticking of the hands felt like a drumbeat on his heart.
"Jingyi, let's go look for him too." Sizhui suddenly said, "Let's go to the place where he might have been just now."
Lan Jingyi's eyes lit up: "Okay!"
"But we can't go too far, so keep in touch." Si Zhui took out his phone, "Let's split up and search. You go to the game area in the east, and I'll go to the snack street in the west. Call me if anything happens."
He remembered that Jin Ling said in the morning that he wanted to eat octopus balls from the amusement park, so maybe he went to the snack street.
Lan Jingyi nodded: "Okay, be careful."
Si Zhui turned and ran towards the snack street. The crowd was getting denser and denser, and the colorful balloons and the hawking of vendors made him dizzy. He ran while shouting, "Jin Ling! Jin Ling!"
No one responded.
When he turned a corner, Si Zhui suddenly saw a familiar headband on the ground - it was the one Jin Ling often wore, blue, with a small lotus pendant on it.
His heart tightened as he picked up the hairband, his fingertips trembling slightly. The hairband was wet, as if someone had stepped on it.
"Jin Ling!" Si Zhui called out again, his voice filled with urgency.
Just then, he heard footsteps behind him. He thought it was Wei Wuxian and the others, but when he turned around, he saw two men wearing black hoodies with the brims pulled down so low that he couldn't see their faces clearly.
"Little boy, what are you looking for?" One of the men spoke, his voice hoarse and cold.
Si Zhui's heart was filled with alarm. He subconsciously took a step back and tightened his grip on the hairband in his hand: "It's none of your business."
He wanted to go around them, but was blocked by another man. The two men, one in front and one behind, blocked him in the corner.
"You are Lan Sizhui, right?" The man smiled, his voice filled with ill intent. "Come with us. Someone wants to see you."
Si Zhui's heart was beating fast. He recognized the clothes of these two people - exactly the same as the men in black in the warehouse surveillance that day!
"I don't know you, get out of the way!" Si Zhui's voice was trembling, but he tried to straighten his back. His hand quietly reached for the cell phone in his pocket, wanting to press the emergency call button.
But before he could touch the phone, one of the men quickly covered his mouth. Si Zhui struggled, trying to use his spiritual power, but the other man held his arm tightly.
"Don't move, or I'll be rude to your friend." The man whispered in his ear, his voice cold. "Do you want that young master wearing a lotus headband to be the same as you?"
Si Zhui's movements froze instantly.
Jin Ling! They took Jin Ling away?
"Just follow us and we'll let him go," the man continued, his tone threatening.
Si Zhui saw the fierce gleam in their eyes and knew they weren't joking. He gritted his teeth as he watched the two men drag him into a secluded alley, with only one thought in his mind: I couldn't let anything happen to Jin Ling.
He struggled to turn around, trying to look in the direction of the amusement park to see if there were any signs of his father or dad, but all he saw was an increasingly dark alley and cold walls.
The phone in his pocket vibrated. It was a message from Wei Wuxian: "Have you found Jin Ling?"
Si Zhui wanted to reply, but the man snatched his phone away, turned it off, and threw it into the trash can.
"Don't even think about asking for help." The man sneered, "From the day you used your spiritual power in school, you were doomed to be unable to escape."
Si Zhui's heart sank to the bottom. It turned out they had been targeting him for a long time. Jin Ling's disappearance might have been a trap from the beginning.
He was shoved into the back seat of a van, the door slammed shut, shutting out the noise outside. In the darkness, he heard the sound of an engine starting from the driver's seat, and the car suddenly rushed out.
Sizhui huddled in the back seat, his fingers gripping Jin Ling's headband so tightly that his knuckles turned white. He wasn't afraid of being arrested, but he was afraid something might happen to Jin Ling, and that his father and dad would worry if they couldn't find them.
He remembered that before leaving, Wei Wuxian had warned him, "Don't run around. Call me if anything happens."
Now, not only was he running around, he was also arrested.
The boy closed his eyes, fighting back tears. He couldn't panic; he had to find a way to escape, not only for himself but also for Jin Ling.
The van left the amusement park and headed towards the edge of the city. The scenery outside the window became increasingly unfamiliar. Sizhui knew that a new crisis had quietly arrived. And this time, he could only rely on himself.
