Chapter 195 Clearing Up Misunderstandings

Chapter 195 Clearing Up Misunderstandings

It was just getting dark when Lin Yan arrived at Xie Lian's house. Pushing open the gate, he saw Si Zhui sitting on a stone bench in the yard, his phone clutched in his hand, his back to the door, his shoulders slightly heaving, as if he were still crying.

Xie Lian and Hua Cheng were standing in the corridor. Seeing him approach, Hua Cheng raised an eyebrow and said with a hint of warning, "I've brought the person to you. Speak nicely."

Lin Yan nodded and walked behind Si Zhui. The boy seemed to notice something and turned around suddenly, his eyes red like a frightened deer. When he saw it was him, his lips moved, but he didn't dare to speak.

"Let's go." Lin Yan's voice was still cold, but he was no longer deliberately distant like he had been in the past few days.

Si Zhui quickly stood up and followed him out. As he passed by Xie Lian, he whispered, "Thank you, uncle."

Xie Lian smiled and waved, "Be careful on the road."

The car was still quiet, but without the suffocating low pressure of the past few days. Si Zhui stole a glance at Lin Yan and saw him looking out the window, his profile softened by the light of the street lamp. Summoning his courage, he whispered, "Brother Lin, I was wrong."

Lin Yan didn't turn around, just said "hmm".

Si Zhui bit his lip and continued, "I shouldn't have fought with others, and I shouldn't have disregarded my own safety for the recorder... My uncle told me, and I understand what you mean."

Lin Yan then turned around and looked at him with a scrutinizing look in his eyes: "What do you understand?"

"I understand... What you care about most is me, not the recorder." Si Zhui's voice became increasingly quiet, his cheeks slightly hot. "I also understand that true peace of mind doesn't rely on things, but on trust... I will never do that again."

Lin Yan looked at his red eyes and serious expression, and the remaining anger in his heart finally dissipated completely. He was silent for a while, took something out of his pocket and handed it over.

It was a brand new voice recorder, smaller than the old one, and the casing was the light wood color that Sizhui liked.

"This is for you."

Si Zhui was stunned. He looked at the new recorder, then at Lin Yan, his eyes full of confusion.

"The old one..."

"It's fixed." Lin Yan interrupted him, his tone flat, "Everything inside is still there, but the outer shell is broken. I replaced it with a new one."

Si Zhui took the new recorder, his fingertips touching the warm outer shell, and a sudden warmth welled up in his heart. He pressed the play button, and the familiar rustling sound came from it, and Lin Yan's words in New York, "Go to sleep, I won't leave", the voice was so clear that it seemed to be right next to his ear.

Tears fell uncontrollably again, but this time they were filled with joy and peace of mind.

"Thank you, Brother Lin..."

Lin Yan looked at him crying, sighed helplessly, and reached out to wipe his face: "Why are you crying again? Didn't you say you knew you were wrong?"

"I am happy." Si Zhui sniffed and held the new recorder tightly in his hand, as if holding the whole world. "I will take good care of it in the future and never act impulsively because of it again."

"It's better this way." Lin Yan rubbed his hair, and his tone finally softened. "If there is a next time, no matter how much you cry, I will ignore you."

"There won't be a next time!" Si Zhui hastily assured him, looking at him with sparkling eyes. "Brother Lin, are you not angry anymore?"

Lin Yan looked at his expectant eyes, his heart softened, but his mouth remained firm: "It depends on your performance."

Si Zhui smiled, like a child who had received candy, his eyes curved into crescents. He knew that Brother Lin had forgiven him.

After returning to the villa, Lin Yan went to the study to process documents. Si Zhui did not stick around like usual, but just sat obediently in the living room, stroking the new recorder in his hand, with a faint smile on his lips.

After a while, he got up and went to the kitchen, made a cup of hot milk for Lin Yan, and carefully brought it into the study.

"Brother Lin, drink some milk."

Lin Yan raised his head, looked at the milk in his hand, and nodded: "Put it there."

Si Zhui put the milk on the table and didn't leave immediately. Instead, he stood by, looking at his profile as he worked on the documents, and whispered, "Brother Lin, does your arm still hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt anymore."

"Then...can I take a look?"

Lin Yan reluctantly put down his pen, unbuttoned his shirt sleeve, revealing his bandaged arm: "It's almost healed."

Si Zhui leaned over and looked at the wound carefully, frowning tightly: "It's all my fault..."

"It's none of your business." Lin Yan rolled up his sleeves. "It's my duty to protect you."

Si Zhui raised his head and met his serious eyes. There was no perfunctory expression in them, only full of determination. He suddenly felt his nose sore, turned around and hugged Lin Yan's neck, buried his face in his neck, and said in a muffled voice: "Brother Lin, thank you."

Lin Yan's body stiffened for a moment, then slowly relaxed. He raised his hand and gently patted his back, his movements unspeakably gentle.

"Silly child."

The study was quiet, with only the steady breathing of the two and the occasional sound of wind blowing in from outside the window. Si Zhui leaned against Lin Yan's arms, inhaling the familiar scent of wood, and his heart suddenly felt at ease.

He knew that he might make mistakes again in the future and make Lin Yan angry again, but he would never hurt himself to prove anything like he did this time.

Because he finally understood that Lin Yan's love was never hidden in a recorder, but in the moment when she blocked the knife for him, in the details when she took care of him with a cold face, and in this embrace that tolerated all his willfulness and uneasiness.

And this love is enough for him to grow up peacefully and enough for him to face all the storms in this world bravely.

Si Zhui rubbed against his chest, a relieved smile on his face.

very nice.

Brother Lin is still here, and they are still the same as before.

That's enough.
