Chapter 203: Chatting Under the Lights
At dinner, Wei Wuxian had specially prepared a few extra dishes: sweet and sour fish, cola chicken wings, and stir-fried seasonal vegetables. The table was filled with Sizhui and Lin Yan's favorites. Lan Wangji opened a bottle of red wine and poured half a glass for each of them, a gentle smile in his eyes: "Today is a good day, let's have a drink to celebrate."
Si Zhui held the wine glass, his fingertips still stained with the warmth of the red book, and looked at the table full of dishes, his heart warm. Wei Wuxian kept picking food for him, muttering, "Eat more, you will belong to someone else's family in the future, don't let yourself down. If Lin Yan dares not cook for you, just come home and Daddy will cook for you every day."
"Daddy!" Si Zhui's cheeks flushed as he softly retorted, "Brother Lin is very good to me. He often cooks for me."
Lin Yan smiled as he helped Si Zhui pick out the fish bones and placed them in his bowl. "Don't worry, Uncle Wei, I won't let Si Zhui suffer any injustice. I'll cook more meals for our family in the future so he can have an easier time."
Lan Wangji watched the interaction between the two, the corners of his mouth slightly raised, and said to Lin Yan: "You just got married, there are a lot of things to do. If you need any help, please let us know at any time."
"Thank you, uncle." Lin Yan nodded. "Si Zhui and I have agreed that he will move in with me after the summer vacation. It's close to his school and convenient."
“Alright.” Lan Wangji nodded. “But come back often when you have time, and don’t let your Uncle Wei miss you.”
Wei WuXian immediately responded, “That’s right! Even if you move out, you still have to come back for two meals a week. Otherwise, who will taste my cooking?”
Si Zhui smiled and agreed: "I know, Daddy, we will definitely come back often."
After dinner, Si Zhui and Lin Yan sat on a stone bench in the courtyard, each holding a marriage certificate, flipping through them repeatedly in the moonlight. Si Zhui leaned on Lin Yan's shoulder and said softly, "Brother Lin, how do you think we should decorate our future home?"
"I'll do as you say." Lin Yan ruffled his hair. "Don't you like wood carving? Let's put the 'Four Seasons' ornaments you carved in the living room, put your favorite white gentian flowers in the bedroom, and make a small garden on the balcony to grow your favorite strawberries, okay?"
"Okay!" Si Zhui's eyes lit up, and he sat up straight to plan with him, "We should also put a large bookshelf in the study and fill it with our favorite books. We can also put a large table there. You can handle the work while I carve the wood. We can stay together and have fun even if we don't talk."
"Okay, I'll do as you say." Lin Yan looked at his beaming face, his heart filled with doting. He took out his phone, clicked on the decoration plan he had saved long ago, and handed it to Si Zhui: "I've seen several decoration styles before. If you like any of them, we can modify them together."
Si Zhui took the phone and looked through it carefully, occasionally discussing with Lin Yan. The moonlight shone on the two of them, and the scene was as warm as a painting.
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji stood at the doorway of the living room, looking at the two people in the courtyard and smiling at each other. Wei Wuxian whispered, "Look at them, they're so happy. I used to worry that Sizhui would always feel insecure, but now that Lin Yan is with him, I can finally rest assured."
"Yeah." Lan Wangji nodded, his tone filled with relief. "Lin Yan is a reliable kid. Si Zhui won't go wrong if he follows him."
Late at night, Sizhui and Lin Yan were about to leave. Wei Wuxian stuffed the red envelope he had prepared long ago into Sizhui's pocket and gave him a few more instructions before reluctantly watching them get into the car.
As the car pulled away from Yunshen Pavilion, Sizhui leaned on Lin Yan's shoulder, watching the night scene pass by outside the window, clutching the marriage certificate tightly in his hand. He suddenly remembered the first time he met Lin Yan. That young man in a white shirt, with a cool temperament, never imagined that he would become the person he would spend his life with.
"Brother Lin." Si Zhui raised his head and looked at Lin Yan's profile. "It's great to meet you."
Lin Yan lowered her head and placed a kiss on his forehead, her voice gentle: "Meeting you is my greatest fortune."
The car moved forward steadily, carrying the two people's expectations, heading towards their future. The lights outside the window twinkled, like stars falling on the earth, illuminating the path for the rest of their lives.
Si Zhui knew that in the days ahead, there would be the trivialities of daily life and occasional minor frictions, but as long as Lin Yan, his family, and his friends were by his side, all the difficulties would become embellishments of happiness.
Because their love is no longer a momentary impulse, but a companionship that is integrated into the daily life, a promise engraved in their bones, and the warmth and companionship in every ordinary day for the rest of their lives.
Days like this are so nice.
