Chapter 64: The Formula for Acting Coquettishly
At dinner, Wei Wuxian looked disheartened by the plain noodles on the table. He poked at the vegetables in his bowl, staring longingly at Lan Wangji, stirring the bowl with his chopsticks like a child who hadn't gotten his candy.
"Lan Zhan," he drawled, his voice cloyingly soft, "This noodle has no flavor at all. Look, I copied so many house rules today that my wrists are almost broken. Can't you give me an egg?"
Lan Wangji raised his eyes and handed him a piece of bamboo shoots with chopsticks: "It's better to be light."
“I don’t want to~” Wei Wuxian put down his chopsticks and said, “I want to eat it with egg and chili peppers, super spicy!” He moved closer to Lan Wangji and gently rubbed his elbow against his arm, “Is that okay, Lan Zhan~”
The sound of "Lan Zhan" was soft and sweet, with a tremor of grievance at the end, which made the camera in the director's hand shake - who would have thought that the actor who had such a powerful aura on the screen would act like a spoiled child in private, and to this icy CEO at that.
Lan Qiren put down his chopsticks and coughed lightly: "Don't talk while eating, and don't talk while sleeping."
Wei Wuxian immediately restrained himself a little, but still secretly hooked Lan Wangji's calf with his foot, with a look in his eyes that clearly said "please".
Lan Wangji gave him a helpless look, then stood up and walked into the kitchen. Not long after, he returned with a bowl of noodles topped with a poached egg and sprinkled with chopped chili peppers. He placed it in front of Wei Wuxian, "Eat less spicy food; it hurts your stomach."
“I knew you were the best!” Wei Wuxian instantly beamed, picked up his chopsticks and began to eat with big mouthfuls, mumbling, “Lan Zhan, can you feed me a bite?”
Lan Wangji was about to refuse when he was handed the egg to his mouth with chopsticks, so he had to take a small bite. Wei Wuxian smiled even more happily when he saw this, and even ate his noodles much faster.
Jiang Cheng got goosebumps watching from the side and rolled his eyes: "Wei Wuxian, how old are you and you're still acting like a spoiled brat? Aren't you ashamed?"
“What do you care?” Wei Wuxian said without even looking up. “I’m acting like a spoiled child with my Lan Zhan. Does that bother you?” He turned to Lan Wangji and winked. “Right, Lan Zhan?”
Lan Wangji didn't say anything, but silently added some soup to his bowl, unable to hide the indulgence in his eyes.
The barrage has long been flooded with this wave of coquettish killing:
"Ahhh, Teacher Wei is so good! Who can resist such coquettishness?"
"Boss Lan's mouth is clearly moving! He's smiling! The iceberg has melted!"
"Help! This couple is so sweet! I want to watch them act like spoiled brats forever!"

Wei Wuxian was finishing his last mouthful of noodles when the system notification chimed, burping contentedly. He put down his bowl and began to push further, "Lan Zhan, after supper, can you take me for a ride? I want to see the modern nightscape. I heard the riverside view is stunning."
"I have to go to the antique exchange meeting tomorrow, so go to bed early." Lan Wangji said calmly as he cleaned up the dishes.
“Just for a little while~” Wei Wuxian followed him into the kitchen, gently hugged his waist from behind, resting his chin on his shoulder, and said in a muffled voice, “I’m really tired today. Going out for some fresh air will make me feel better, and…” He leaned close to Lan Wangji’s ear and whispered, “I want to be alone with you for a while, without a camera.”
Lan Wangji paused while washing the dishes, feeling the warm breath on his back, and his Adam's apple rolled slightly: "Okay."
After receiving a positive answer, Wei Wuxian immediately let go of his hand and gave him a kiss on the face: "I knew you loved me the most!" After saying that, he turned around and ran away, fearing that he would go back on his word.
Lan Wangji touched the cheek that had been kissed, looked at his cheerful back, and finally a faint smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
The director, watching from the kitchen doorway with a smile on his face, said to the cameraman, "This has to be included in the edit. It's definitely the best part of the week!"
At nine o'clock that evening, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji slipped out of the old house, unchallenged. They drove a low-key black sedan, slowly along the riverbank. The river breeze blew in through the car window, carrying a moist mist. In the distance, skyscrapers lit up with dazzling lights, infinitely more vibrant than the night lights of Cloud Recesses.
“Look at that building,” Wei WuXian pointed at the tallest one. “We filmed a scene there last time. If you stand on the top floor and look at the night view, you can see most of the city.”
Lan Wangji looked in the direction he pointed and said softly, "That's the headquarters of the Wangji Group."
“Wow, Mr. Lan is so rich,” Wei Wuxian said deliberately exaggeratedly. “Can we book the top floor so we can go there to watch the stars next time?”
"Sure." Lan Wangji nodded and looked sideways at him, "As long as you want to go."
Wei Wuxian's heart warmed, and he suddenly felt that even without magic and the moonlight of the Cloud Recesses, it was still nice to be able to watch the modern night scene with Lan Wangji. He leaned over and gently took Lan Wangji's hand, interlocking their fingers.
"Lan Zhan," he said softly, "thank you."
Thank you for being willing to accompany me no matter where and when, indulging my willfulness and tolerating everything about me.
Lan Wangji squeezed his hand tightly, saying nothing as he slowly parked the car at the riverside viewing platform. Moonlight streamed down on the two of them, and the river breeze blew Wei Wuxian's hair, softening the tenderness in Lan Wangji's eyes.
The city in the distance was still bustling, but the two of them nearby were remarkably quiet. Wei Wuxian leaned on Lan Wangji's shoulder, watching the shimmering waves on the river, filled with joy.
As long as he is by my side, wherever is home.
