The immortal waved his sleeve calmly and said, "My name is Xuan Lingzi. Come with me to Mount Taihua, and I will accept you as my disciple."
Under his parents' guidance, Gu Niansheng kowtowed in confusion. As they left, his parents held him, fighting back tears as they repeatedly urged him to study the immortal arts diligently. But Gu Niansheng asked, "Dad, Mom, will I ever be able to come back to see you again?"
Before his parents could answer, Xuan Lingzi behind them said, "To seek the Tao and immortality, one must sever worldly ties. You have severed your parental ties with them here. From now on, you will wander the world freely and seek the path to immortality."
Gu Niansheng said, "No! Why wouldn't I want my parents? I want my parents!"
Xuan Lingzi lowered his eyes to look at him and said, "So, do you want to become an immortal?"
Gu Niansheng slowly lost the anger on his face. He looked up at the cold and detached master soaring through the air and suddenly smiled. "Master, I want to become an immortal, but I will never be a heartless and loveless person. I will not sever the bond between my parents in this life, nor will I sever the bond between master and disciple in this life. If only the heartless can become immortal, then why did you travel thousands of miles to Luoshui, take me away, and accept me as your disciple?"
Everything around suddenly stopped, even Xuan Lingzi's figure suddenly stopped.
Gu Niansheng walked up to the sky step by step, his figure slowly changed, and finally turned into Luo Jianqing.
Nine illusions, each one wearing away his will.
As the Heavenly Dao says: The world is full of suffering, so why do we want it? We should get rid of it!
Luo Jianqing reached out and caressed Xuan Lingzi's face, revealing a helpless, doting smile. He whispered, "You came to Gujia Village for me, defying fate for my parents, just so I could sever my earthly roots. Wuyin, oh Wuyin, you so much hope that I could sever my earthly roots, and you so much hope... that I would be the kind of heartless and unloving person? Yet, you spit blood for me. So, Wuyin, who am I in your heart?"
He placed his fingers on Xuan Lingzi's face, stroking it gently.
Luo Jianqing slowly lowered his head and kissed those lips. His fantasy was all false, but at that moment, Luo Jianqing felt as if he had kissed those lips before. They were soft, gentle, and held the deep affection of the Venerable Xuan Lingzi. Even after finally being sealed away on Yuxiao Peak, as its owner had said, their earthly bond had never been severed!
The next moment, all illusions vanished into nothingness!
A powerful and majestic force surged from Luo Jianqing's body. That ethereal power transformed into a long whip, lashing out at the surrounding space. Under the whip's lash, space twisted and shifted, as if tampered with. An angry roar erupted from the sky, and bolts of lightning seemed to threaten to crash down, but they remained within the thunderclouds, never striking.
"When chaos is born, there is no black or white. Who can tell right from wrong?"
"It is said that only by abandoning all feelings can one become an immortal, and only by abandoning all righteousness can one attain the Way."
"Then what exactly is Tao? And what is immortality?"
"My fate is in my own hands, not in the hands of God. I want the bond between my parents in this life! I also want the bond between my master and disciple in this life!"
"The third chapter of the Nine Heavenly Seizures is about right and wrong!"
boom!
The ferocious spiritual power suddenly dissipated, sweeping across the entire Gujia Village and rushing into the surging Luo River.
That power seemed fierce, yet it caressed everything in the world very gently. It did not harm anything, nor did it seize anything. It simply quietly observed everything it could see, as if it was constantly learning. The ultimate goal of this learning process was to figure out what was right and what was wrong.
Who is right and who is wrong? Who can tell?
Luo Jianqing stood in the heavy rain and looked up at the sky without fear. In an instant, the rain suddenly stopped, but the dark clouds still refused to disperse.
A trace of something that had previously vanished from his body slowly reappeared. This entanglement had entangled Luo Jianqing for his entire life. Born as his parents, they had given him flesh and blood. How could he forget this love? Even if it was hatred, it was hatred that belonged to him, Luo Jianqing! Even if it was resentment, it was up to him, Luo Jianqing, to decide whether to cut it off!
Luo Jianqing stood before the grave for a full forty-one days, seemingly fulfilling the friendship of the past forty-one years. Yet, when he turned and left, he was still the son of Gu Qi and his wife. They had supported him for three years. They had abandoned him in the Luo River, but now they had rescued him from the water. Forty years of kinship were missing between them, yet his parents had cared for him in his coma for a full forty days.
After returning to the hut, Luo Jianqing took out the silver from under his bed and distributed it to every household in the village, especially sending some to his former brother-in-law in the neighboring village. The honest man still didn't understand what was going on, so Luo Jianqing left in anger.
Before leaving, Luo Jianqing had just arrived at the entrance of Gujia Village when a beautiful girl ran towards him without any restraint.
The girl's face was covered with tears. She held a bright red flower in her hand, wiped her tears, and put it into Luo Jianqing's arms.
Luo Jianqing lowered his head to look at her and immediately smiled: "You are also ranked sixteenth in Gujia Village?"
Gu Shiliu was stunned when he heard this and murmured, "I am the only girl ranked sixteen in Gujia Village."
Luo Jianqing chuckled softly, his smile was relieved, and his mood seemed to be brighter.
Taking out a white jade hairpin from his ring, Luo Jianqing gently inserted it into Gu Shiliu's hair, causing Gu Shiliu's fingers to tremble with joy. Then he heard Luo Jianqing say, "I'm not your beloved, but someone once told me that her liking me is her business and has nothing to do with me. So now I just want to tell you that your red thread is not with me. But if you insist on doing so, I won't forcefully erase your memory of me."
Gu Shiliu opened his eyes wide: "You...you really are an immortal!"
Luo Jianqing said calmly: "Sixteen, when that day comes, when you see your beloved, you will understand that it is not me."
