Chapter Sixty-Six: A Demon Who Came Treading on Blood

The sound of light, ghostly footsteps approached the hot spring pool, stopping five steps away from it. This was followed by Chang Ying's respectful voice.

"Your Majesty, the little princess went to Consort Gui's Ronghua Palace at dusk."

Helian Nie lazily opened his peach blossom eyes in the hot spring pool, a hint of ambiguous interest appearing at the narrow corners of his eyes.

Hmm? They actually went straight to Wen Changle's Ronghua Palace. The little dumpling is quite bold.

"Tell me about it." The sinister voice had a deep, magnetic quality, but it sent chills down one's spine.

"Ahem." Changying thought of what he had just heard from the guards who were monitoring the little princess, and for a moment he didn't know how to respond.

"Hmm?" Helian Nie's lazy voice had a hint of coldness, showing some impatience with Chang Ying's hesitant speech.

Changying felt a chill run down his spine and quickly lowered his head to respectfully report back in detail, recounting how Helian Si had angered Granny Cai to the point of fainting.

Changying couldn't suppress the smile in his heart; even his usually taut and resolute face couldn't help but show a hint of a smile.

After Changying finished reporting, Helian Nie's languid demeanor had vanished, replaced by a face that resembled a demon, filled with amused amusement.

That's right, that ugly little thing even knows how to bully others by using their own name, beating someone up like that right in front of Wen Changle.

A hint of a smile flickered in her narrow, almond-shaped eyes. She reached out and picked up the wine prepared by the hot spring pool, her thin, crimson lips pursed slightly.

The crisp liquor went down his throat, carrying a hint of hostility, before he spoke slowly and deliberately, "Not bad, you're quite good at infuriating people."

Finally, as if suddenly remembering something, his slender fingers holding the wine cup paused slightly.

"Report to me in detail everything that happened when Nanrong Jinghua went to Yongqing Palace tomorrow."

"Yes." The Emperor had always been wary of the brilliant young master, so Changying wasn't surprised. However, he had another matter to discuss.

"Your Majesty, the First Prince and his attendant Wu Fu are currently with the Second Prince and Consort Lian."

Helian Nie raised an eyebrow slightly, but showed no intention of speaking. Chang Ying had no choice but to continue speaking, forcing himself to speak.

"The guard overheard something and, according to the Second Prince, the old nanny who serves the Imperial Concubine has recently been giving gifts to the Second Prince and Consort Lian."

The slow-acting poison added to the food was increasing in dosage, and the Second Prince... planned to kill the old woman first.

However, because Consort Lian's maternal clan was constrained by the Imperial Concubine's maternal clan, the eldest prince was asked to help Consort Lian's maternal clan.

Helian Nie listened in silence, his long, slender fingers gently stroking the rim of the wine vessel, lost in thought.

"Your Majesty, this matter...should we intervene?" Changying asked this question, still concerned about Helian Ci's frail and sickly health.

The Second Prince was indeed intelligent, but in Ronghua Palace, everyone was a spy and henchman of the Imperial Concubine. To be honest...

Chang Ying didn't believe that Helian Ci could kill the Imperial Concubine's personal maid and still escape unscathed.

Helian Nie put down his wine cup and stood up. With a flick of his wrist, the crimson robe that had been prepared to the side landed in his hands.

"No need. When people are driven to the brink of death, they can always do something unexpected. Keep an eye on them. If they succeed, find a pretext to move the mother and son to Yongqing Palace. If they fail, find a place for them to be buried."

The crimson robe, as red as blood, was loosely draped over Helian Nie's body. His dark hair, damp with moisture, fell loosely to his waist, making him look like a demon who had walked through a bloodbath, cold and ruthless.
