Chapter Forty-Four: Murdering Lotus!

"Alright, I agree."

For Helian Nie, the mere position of imperial son-in-law was a bargain in exchange for winning the hearts of the people.

On Nan Rong Jinghua's sharply defined face, a faint smile played at the corners of her lips. A gentle breeze rustled the hem of her silver-white silk robe, as if whispering sweet nothings.

"Your Majesty, I thank you for granting my request."

Helian Nie remained silent, but rose and left the jade table. In the blink of an eye, his crimson robe had returned to the paulownia tree.

"Your subject takes his leave." He bowed again, then respectfully stepped back and turned to leave.

However, just as he turned around and took a few steps, a sinister and murderous sword suddenly pierced through the air behind him. If it were anyone else, they would surely die.

Nan Rong Jinghua sighed softly, and with a flick of her sleeve, the Xuan Tie sword that had pierced through the air returned to its sheath on the weapon rack.

"Your Majesty, you cannot harm me." A voice as calm as a secluded valley drifted by, and then vanished as the silver-white silk robe that had stepped out of the courtyard gate disappeared.

Beneath the sycamore tree, a tall, imposing figure in deep red gazed thoughtfully at the departing silver-white silhouette.

With a flick of his wrist, the Xuan Tie sword on the weapon rack returned to Helian Nie's hand, its blade reflecting a chilling, menacing light under the blazing sun.

Helian Nie's devilishly handsome face, the fierceness in his narrow, peach-blossom eyes had subsided, and his crimson lips were slightly curved.

"If I can't hurt him, someone else will."

Nan Rong Jinghua's aura today was significantly weaker than usual.

Helian Si slept straight until noon; to be precise, he was woken up by hunger.

She propped herself up unsteadily from the bed, rubbing her sleepy eyes with her little hands, her rosy face full of confusion.

Hmm? Shouldn't I be listening to the lecture?

His eyes gradually cleared, he blinked, then blinked again.

Helian Si felt a vein throb on his forehead. He raised his short hand and waved it.

"Aaaaaah! 077, you murdered Lotus!!!" Lotus's screams echoed throughout the room.

Helian Si rolled his eyes. "Serves you right. Who told you to get so close to me? Have you finally discovered how stunningly beautiful this NPC is?"

Fo Lian's lips twitched, and she muttered under her breath, "She's clearly shameless."

"What did you say?" a sinister voice rang out.

"Cough, cough, it's nothing. Um, do you... remember what happened this morning? Or... do you feel unwell anywhere?"

Helian Si: "?"

Didn't I just doze off while listening to some gibberish this morning?

However… the little girl touched her tummy with her short hands, her face heavy, “Yes, it’s very uncomfortable.”

Buddha Lotus was greatly alarmed; its entire golden lotus body trembled three times, and it hurriedly floated back to Helian Si's side.

"Where, where, where does it hurt?!"

Helian Si stared at the anxious and impatient Folian, her delicate and pink face filled with a strange expression.

Why is this bastard suddenly so concerned about me? Usually, he's just sitting on the sidelines, snacking and gloating.

The image involuntarily flashed through her mind: the moment she opened her eyes, and the image of Buddha gazing at her with such deep affection.

The little girl's lips twitched violently, and her small body silently shifted, creating a distance of several steps between her and Buddha Lotus.

"What are you doing? Aren't you feeling unwell? Tell me quickly, where does it hurt?"

The golden lotus trembled its petals in its eagerness, completely oblivious to the disdainful look in its aunt's eyes.
