Chapter Eight: Like Being Struck by Lightning

At this point, Wen Changle sighed, his face filled with disappointment as he looked at the kneeling palace maid.

"This wicked servant offended the little princess some time ago, and the little princess scolded her a few words. It was a small matter, and I didn't take it to heart."

Helian Si frowned slightly, searched through the original owner's memories, and it seemed that there was indeed such a thing.

Wen Changle looked up at Helian Nie and saw Helian Nie holding Helian Si's small hand in his arms, playing with it casually.

Seeing no unusual expression on his face, Wen Changle's anxiety eased slightly, and he continued,

"I never imagined that this wicked servant would hold a grudge and, using my name, instigate Rong, the maidservant by the little princess's side, to harm her. I have heard that Rong has falsely accused me of plotting to kill the little princess."

"I became suspicious and questioned him repeatedly. Only then did this wicked servant confess. I was worried that Your Majesty might have believed Rong Mama's words, which is why I hurriedly came to bring this wicked servant here."

After hearing Wen Changle's explanation, Helian Si couldn't help but wrinkle his rosy cheeks, and his grape-like eyes rolled back wide.

I'd be a fool to believe you!

Helian Nie's long, narrow, peach-blossom eyes were fixed on the little bundle in his arms.

Seeing Helian Si's adorable little face rolling his eyes, he burst into unrestrained laughter, a laughter that was both pleasant and eerily melodious.

For a moment, everyone in the hall looked in shock at Helian Nie, who sat on the high golden dragon throne.

The Emperor actually smiled...

The Emperor was not a man who never smiled; on the contrary, they often saw him laugh, but not in such a loud and boisterous way.

Instead, it was a silent, cold laugh, and when the emperor showed such a smile, it usually meant that he was about to start another killing spree.

Helian Si was also startled by Helian Nie's sudden laughter, and tilted his head to look at Helian Nie.

She blinked her grape-like, watery eyes, not understanding what her little one was laughing at.

Helian Nie stretched out his long, slender fingers and gently pinched the little dumpling's pink and tender face in front of him.

A strange pleasure lingered on the devilishly handsome face. As he leaned closer, a chuckled voice reached Helian Si's ears.

"Listen to this, even you, Little Tuanzi, don't believe such a clumsy lie, but this woman Wen Changle wants to use it to deceive me. Little Tuanzi, isn't that funny?"

Helian Si blinked, then blinked again, a hint of excitement flickering in his grape-like eyes.

So, so, so, does this mean that Zaizai knows Wen Changle has ill intentions and ulterior motives? Does this mean that Zaizai isn't stupid?

Upon realizing this possibility, Helian Si's initial frustration and anger completely vanished.

She stretched out her two little hands, cupped Helian Nie's devilishly handsome face so close to hers, and gave him a big kiss. Her grape-like eyes shone like twinkling stars in the night sky.

"Sisi knew Father was the smartest!"

As expected, my little one was not bewitched by the beauty of that vicious woman, Wen Changle. My little one is still the same smart little one!

Helian Si was completely absorbed in his own joy, utterly oblivious to the fact that he was in front of so many people.

The little girl hugged Helian Nie's neck with her short arms, her pink face beaming with joy as her eyes curved into crescent moons. She was overjoyed.

The people inside the hall were still shocked by Helian Nie's laughter. Now, seeing the little princess kiss the emperor without any fear, their eyes widened, their expressions as if struck by lightning, looking utterly horrified as if they had seen a ghost.
