Chapter 11

Chapter 11

It took them a long time to burn the walkers in the camp and bury the dead, and Rick and Sean had a huge disagreement about the next course of action.

Lena doesn't like getting involved in Sean's affairs. She doesn't like Sean, ever since she watched the show.

Perhaps due to ingrained prejudice, coupled with her inability to deal with such people, Lina chose to stay far away.

She didn't think Sean would be so ruthless as to attack people, at least not now. But if necessary, Sean would definitely not hold back. Lina didn't want to die in someone else's clutches instead of being killed by the zombies.

Actually, she used to quite like people like that, and she was even a bit like one herself.

Everyone's world has a circle. Some people are in the circle, and you would live and die for them, and give everything without hesitation. Others are outside the circle, and their life or death is none of your business. They can even contribute to you when necessary. And then there are some lucky guys who are on the edge of the circle, and they may enter or leave at any time.

Sean is not in her circle.

Similarly, she was also outside of Sean's circle.

“Let him rest in the RV,” Lina said, noticing Amy talking to Daryl.

Daryl glanced at Lina, said something to Amy, and then turned and went into the tent.

"What's wrong, Amy?" Lina, who was bored, quietly walked up to Amy and patted her on the shoulder.

"Oh my goodness!" Amy exclaimed, startled, clutching her chest with lingering fear. "You're like a cat," she said, looking at Lina with a helpless expression.

Lina playfully stuck out her tongue.

“You should be glad I don’t have any weapons,” Amy complained, pinching Lina’s cheek. “They won’t go into the RV; it’s more comfortable there than in the tent.” Amy sounded a little disappointed.

"Did you convince Dale?" Lina asked curiously.

“Of course, although Moore…” Amy looked at him with a complicated expression, “he helped me and the camp. Dale isn’t some old fogey.”

Lena nodded thoughtfully. Dale saw it clearly; this was a typical image of a wise man, but unfortunately, he also had his flaws—he was a bit too much of a pushover.

He has to learn from his mistakes again and again before he can realize that the world is no longer the world he knew decades ago.

"I'll help you persuade him." Lina, eager to try, lifted the curtain and rushed in.

"..." Amy looked at the tent with a troubled expression, feeling that it wasn't a good way to persuade her. Inside, there was already a noisy commotion.

Let's go!

Sure enough! Amy watched speechlessly as Lina carried Mor out.

Daryl didn't stop him; his expression, though not exactly pleasant, was no different from his usual demeanor.

Rather, he was actually somewhat pleased with the outcome.

Amy led the way, and Lina carried Moore through the streets in a flamboyant manner.

Moor stared blankly at the ground, silent and motionless, as if he were already dead.

Lena tossed Moore onto the bed Amy had made, then patted off imaginary dust from her hands with satisfaction. She pulled up her clothes and sniffed, "Ugh! You really, really, really stink!"

Her only response was for Moore to pull the blanket over her face and give her the middle finger.

Amy looked at Moore and Lina and chuckled, seemingly lost in thought.

Lina ignored all of that; she needed to go back and change her clothes!

Lina rushed off the RV and nearly bumped into Daryl at the door.

"What?" Daryl looked at Lina in confusion.

“Your brother stinks,” Lina said disgustedly. Then she glanced at Daryl, suddenly leaned closer like a puppy, her nose twitching slightly. “Hey! You should take a bath too!” Lina then ran away.

Daryl watched Lina's retreating figure speechlessly. Damn it, he wasn't the only one like this! She wasn't much better off herself!

Daryl glanced around; no one was paying attention to him. He quietly pulled up his clothes and sniffed.

Perhaps he should change his clothes; he seems to have another jacket.

Daryl, feeling frustrated, changed his mind about going to see Moore and went back to his tent to change his clothes.

Before dinner, everyone gathered together to discuss the plans for the future.

Everyone decided to go to the CDC.

After a night's rest, everyone packed their things the next day, and Rick and Sean began to arrange their journey.

The Morales family decided to go to Birmingham to stay with relatives.

Lena remembers that they failed, and their last meeting was at the Saviors' base, where he had become Negan through and through.

It's a bit of a pity, after all, this guy is quite good. It's a shame that he would choose a safer path for the sake of his family.

And this is a path that Lina cannot stop.

However, since not many weapons were lost this time, Rick gave him more than one gun, hoping that a little more firepower would help him and his family.

Speaking of weapons, hopefully the people at the nursing home found her dropped gun, although they seem to have succumbed to it even faster.

She recalled that in the deleted scene, Rick and his group left the CDC intending to stay at a nursing home for a while, but when they arrived, the place had already been overrun.

"Hey, get in the car." Daryl patted Lina on the shoulder as she stood there in a daze.

Lina nodded blankly. She was indeed selfish, but she wasn't a savior; she couldn't save everyone.

Lena instinctively followed Daryl into the pickup truck he was driving. Daryl glanced at the distracted Lena with some surprise, but didn't say anything to ask her to get out.

Glenn and Rick, who were trying to greet Lina, exchanged a helpless glance.

Isn't she getting a little too close to the Dixon brothers?

Rick kept thinking about this idea until he got in the car, and he kept thinking about it throughout the drive.

He only has one son, but he was young once too, and he knows what kind of men the girls in his high school class were interested in.

“What’s wrong? You seem worried,” Lowry asked. “Is it about the CDC?”

“No, no,” Rick snapped out of his reverie and forced a smile. “I was thinking, do you think you would have been interested in Daryl if you were 16? I’m just saying, making a hypothetical statement, you know.”

Lori paused for a moment, then burst out laughing. "E-on, you should really look at your expression right now," just like her father had looked at him back then.

"What?" Rick glanced at the rearview mirror, puzzled.

“No, my advice is to let things take their course,” Lowry said seriously. “You know that.”

“Yeah—” Rick nodded.

The car fell silent again, but after a while Rick couldn't help asking, "But why? Isn't Glenn closer to you? Clean, sunny, young..."

Lowry turned her head away, unable to stop laughing.

Rick glanced at Lowry and continued driving, feeling frustrated. He just couldn't understand it.

Lina rested her head against the window, enjoying the breeze.

"Is it fun?" Daryl glanced at her and asked somewhat awkwardly.

“No! This smells absolutely disgusting,” Lina said.

“…” Daryl gripped the steering wheel, driving with some frustration. He didn’t know what to say, so he decided to just give up. He really wasn’t good at conversation. Damn it, why did he even have to say anything!

"Do you listen to music?" Lina suddenly sat up straight and took out her Walkman from her pocket.

Without waiting for Daryl's reply, Lena had already shoved the earphones into his ears. Daryl's pupils constricted, and the steering wheel veered sharply to the side. He quickly swerved back, which only made him more embarrassed.

"Your driving skills are terrible," Lina complained.

“Shut up!” Daryl said angrily, wondering if this guy even knew what she was talking about.

Lena leaned to one side, her fluffy hair brushing against Daryl's arm, and he moved his arm away somewhat irritably.

Having lost her support, Lina lay directly on his lap, her headphones pulled off. Lina looked up at Daryl with displeasure.

Daryl froze. "Get up!"

"No!" Lina pouted. "I kindly invited you to listen to music, what's wrong with letting me lean on you for a bit?"

Lina simply shifted her body, resting her head on Daryl's lap, put on her headphones, and closed her eyes.

"..."Fuck!

“Hey Daryl, are you okay? What’s with your car shaking like that? I thought Glenn was driving. Over.” Sean teased.

“No, it’s nothing.” Daryl irritably hung up the radio.

Moore is right, he's a brat.

The car wasn't driving smoothly, but Lina seemed to have fallen asleep. After being jolted a few times, she turned over, almost burying her face in Daryl's stomach, clutching his clothes, and drifted off to sleep.

Daryl's body grew increasingly stiff. He felt her warm breath, and with the car's jolts, a gentle touch fell on his lower abdomen through his clothes.

"You're not a pervert, Daryl," he repeated to himself countless times.

She's only 16; she's still a child.

Daryl tried to relax his body and ignore Lina, but her breath tickled his heart.

As it was getting dark, the car stopped, and Daryl realized that he was covered in sweat.

But the carefree Lina was still sleeping soundly.

"Hey, get up." Daryl raised his hand, unsure where to place it on Lina, and drew arcs in the air.

Lina sat up abruptly, looking around groggily. She took off her Walkman, which was now out of power, and threw it out of the car.

“Hey! Lina! Daryl!” Rick called out in a low voice from ahead.

“We should get off.” Lina turned to Daryl, rummaged through the back seat for her backpack, opened the door, and jumped out.

Daryl was speechless. Who was responsible for getting the two of them off the bus so late?

“This looks bad.” Daryl slung his crossbow over his shoulder, said this, and strode forward. Amy and Andrea were struggling to support Mor, and he had to go help them.

Daryl supported Moore's left arm. "Don't act like a coward," Daryl complained. It was just the loss of an arm; he didn't believe it would make Moore so weak that he couldn't walk.

Moore chuckled and put in a bit more effort. Andrea and Amy glanced at Daryl and Moore, then slowly followed the group forward. Moore lowered his voice and said to Daryl, "Hey, I have to get something out of this, right?"

“Go to hell,” Daryl cursed.

“Something’s not right here,” Moore said quietly.

“I know,” Daryl replied in a low voice as well.

“Something’s wrong with this world,” Lina remarked as she walked by.

“Tsk,” Moore glanced at Lina, who walked toward Rick and the others, “What were you doing in the car just now?” Moore looked at Daryl.

"What?" Daryl raised his voice, seemingly trying to hide his unease.

"Come on, little brother, you wouldn't have made such a basic mistake when you were ten. You were driving like an Asian just now." Moore rolled his eyes, then grinned lewdly. "You two are hooking up?"

Daryl punched Moore. "Shut up."

The roller shutter was locked, and Lina kept her eyes glued to the monitor above her; she knew Jenner was watching.

"There are zombies!"

"Mother!"

“You’ve led us down a dead end!” Daryl shouted angrily, firing an arrow.

“We’d better leave now, Daryl,” Moore said sternly, pulling Daryl along.

"Shut up!" Sean snapped at Daryl, who was criticizing Rick, and pulled Rick away.

"He moved!" Rick suddenly shouted. "I know you're in there!"

"..."

"..."

“Hey, man,” Sean said, a little exasperated, but he kept trying to pull Rick back.

After Rick's screams, the door opened, like a ray of hope illuminating the place.
