Chapter 23
Perhaps because they had just made up after their argument, Lina was clinging to Daryl very much. He said he was teaching her how to navigate in the woods, but in reality, the teaching time only took up 20 percent of the time. The rest of the time, the two of them were just being affectionate.
For the first time, Lina felt like she had a skin hunger disorder, wishing she could cling to Daryl, but unfortunately, he was still injured.
But holding hands, taking Daryl's hand and kneading it from the first finger to the last, could keep Lina entertained for half a day.
Of course, only Lina was happy.
Daryl wasn't feeling well, but this forest wasn't a good place. He reluctantly pulled his hand away and roughly rubbed Lina's head. "Let's go. I don't think you're really interested in learning." Daryl stood up, dusted himself off, and reached out to pull Lina up.
Lena looked at Daryl with a grin, "Who said that? It just proves you're not a good teacher."
Daryl pulled Lina up, raising an eyebrow. "I'm not a good teacher? Hmm?" He pressed against Lina, who was leaning against a tree. The close proximity didn't feel oppressive; Lina simply smiled and wrapped her arms around Daryl's neck. "Yes, you're not."
“Maybe it’s just because you’re a bad student,” Daryl said, nose to nose, bending down to give him a hard kiss. He had to get some interest from this mischievous brat.
"Hmm..." Lina disagreed. She felt she was an excellent student, at least she had learned how to kiss, hadn't she?
At least this time it didn't happen like the first time, when I was stunned by the kiss and my legs went weak so I couldn't stand up.
Daryl's lips and tongue gently licked Lina's neck, the fluffy hair tickling her neck. Lina absentmindedly grabbed Daryl's hair.
Perhaps Amy is right.
"What are you thinking about?" After calming down for a moment, Daryl straightened up, put his arm around Lina, and looked down at her, who was lost in thought.
"I was thinking about when the two of us can go to town, just the two of us," Lina said, raising an eyebrow.
"That's not what he meant, is it?" Daryl looked at Lina suspiciously.
Lina chuckled and kissed Daryl on the chin. "You're so cute."
Daryl had lost count of how many times Lina had called him cute. He was a little helpless. Was she the only one who thought he was cute? If it were anyone else, he would have punched them long ago.
"Go back?" It was almost noon, and Daryl looked at the sky.
“No,” Lina said dejectedly. She knew what was going to happen next, and she didn’t want to see it.
“I’ll go find something to eat,” Daryl said.
“Together.” Lina followed Daryl, and Daryl taught Lina while studying the tracks in the forest. Lina learned quite a bit.
Perhaps it's the motivation for eating dry food?
*
Just as Lena had suspected, things were terrible at the farm, and Sean was completely stunned when he learned that Lori was pregnant.
That was his child.
He knew it was his.
Sean couldn't wait to find Lowry, but Lowry's words plunged him back into despair. What a cold-hearted woman.
He saved her so many times, yet she wanted his child to call someone else "Dad."
That would be his only family in the world.
No matter what she thinks, the child will be his, and he will protect her/him.
Sean rushed towards the RV, determined to start with those damned zombies and make sure no one put him or his men in danger.

Despite dawdling, Daryl took Lina back to the farm after dinner, whereupon Lina saw an enraged Sean charging towards them with a gun.
Oh no, Lina's vision went black.
“Hey, man, are you on my side? Huh? Are you going to protect your woman?” Sean looked at Daryl, holding a gun.
Daryl glanced at Lina and took the gun.
Sean glanced at Lina, sneered, and gave her that same look again. "Heh, I won't ask you anymore," he said, walking past Lina to start handing out guns to everyone. Maggie tried to stop him repeatedly, but the furious Sean wouldn't listen to her.
Even Lowry's words didn't bother Sean, or rather, Lowry's words only made Sean angrier.
"My God, what's that?" T looked towards the woods and saw Herschel, Rick, Jimmy, and a limping Otis returning with two walkers.
Everyone rushed over. Sean picked up his gun and questioned Herschel. His anger drove him to keep shooting at the walker—its body, lungs, heart… Finally, Sean shot and killed the walker.
Herschel was stunned and knelt on the ground in disbelief.
Sean started giving a speech, saying he wanted to take over the team, and he was doing just that.
Moore, who had been standing by the barn, looked at Lina, and Lina glanced at him.
Moore rolled his eyes.
"If you still want to live..." Sean roared. Lina walked towards Sean, who paused. "What, Miss, do you have some brilliant ideas?"
Lina frowned. "You're too unstable."
“I don’t need your accusations, kid. At least I won’t act like a madman, grabbing two knives and going to fight eight armed men. People like you will die because of your own rotten kindness,” he said, looking at Lina and Rick. “You don’t belong in this world. The world has changed. People like you are simply…”
Sean collapsed softly to the ground, and Moore put down the wooden bucket he was holding.
He glared at Lina with displeasure, walked up to Rick, and stabbed the walker in the head with a knife.
"Go to hell, you bunch of lunatics." Mor cursed as he walked over to Daryl, grabbed his clothes and wiped the blood off his knife.
Daryl punched Moore, the bastard! He still won't do the laundry!
"If you want me to turn into one of those monsters, you might as well just kill me," Moore said gruffly. "You guys are the ones who are seriously ill. Get your brains checked." Moore turned and left.
Lena walked up to Herschel. "My great-uncle and great-aunt are dead. They changed. I took care of them myself." Lena knelt down, looking into Herschel's dazed eyes. "They just wanted me to live. These walkers aren't our family anymore. When you're ready, we'll help you get rid of the...family in the barn. I've done it before, shoving them in from the back of the head, trying to keep their faces as intact as possible. You can't stay in the past forever. Look at your daughters; that's what you need to worry about now. What will they do without you?"
Lena dragged Sean along, pulling him by the leg, not caring what kind of torture his head would suffer, and dragged him toward the camp.
T-boy and Glenn couldn't bear it and ran over to lift Sean up.
Lina was relaxed.
He clapped his hands and pulled Daryl away.
"I had no idea you two were so in sync?" Daryl looked at Lina in disbelief. How could Mor listen to Lina?
"You call this tacit understanding?" Lina curled her lip in disdain. Who wants to have tacit understanding with Mor?
“I don’t quite understand you,” Daryl said, somewhat puzzled. “That barn is a ticking time bomb, and you’re just leaving it there?”
“You said it yourself, it’s a time bomb, and it’s still some time before it explodes,” Lina paused, looking at Daryl with a hint of helplessness. “It took me half a month to make up my mind to get rid of my family; it wasn’t an easy thing.”
Daryl looked at Lina in silence. "I'm sorry."
"What are you apologizing for?" Lina glared at Daryl. "Never mind that. I want to eat meat tonight. Can we even hunt squirrels now?"
Daryl glanced at the sky. "Okay."
Suddenly Lina stopped. "No, I've changed my mind. Let's go to town."
Daryl seemed indifferent; he had nothing else to do anyway.
Lena ran to the RV. The two large bags of food she brought from the CDC were almost used up, since there were quite a few of them.
Lena took out the rest of the things and put them away. She picked up two empty bags. Amy was taking care of Sean in the RV. Everyone else had gone to a meeting. Oh, and Moore was sleeping in the tent.
Maybe.
“Amy,” Lina ran to the back of the RV, and Amy looked at Lina, “Are you going out?” She looked at the bag in Lina’s hand.
“Yes, to town, to fill up the backpack. I’m so fed up with you guys, you’re not interested in hoarding food at all,” Lina complained.
“We’ve taken quite a bit,” Amy said speechlessly. Not everyone is like Lina, who’s treated like a hamster.
“The supplies bring a sense of security,” Lina said. “By the way, you, and that…” Lina hesitated, a little embarrassed.
"What?" Amy was a little confused.
"Hey! Lina, are you done yet?" Daryl called from outside.
“Oh—” Amy suddenly realized. “Wait.” She pulled a box out of a backpack in the car. “There’s half a box left,” Amy smiled mischievously. “I don’t think you can use it all. Be careful.”
Lena bumped into Amy's shoulder and jumped off the RV. Daryl rode his motorcycle, taking Lena towards town, which was relatively safer; otherwise, Glenn and Maggie wouldn't have been able to make so many trips back and forth unharmed.
“The pharmacy probably doesn’t have much left,” Lina said, looking at Daryl. “We can take a look,” Daryl said nonchalantly.
The two went inside and wandered around. Apart from taking some vitamins and various supplements, everything else, such as anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics, had already been taken.
“What are you going to do with those?” Daryl asked, puzzled. They couldn’t cure any diseases, and health supplements were no different from scams.
"Providing nutrients is also very important," you can't exactly say it's for Lowry, can you? Besides, the kids won't be eating or sleeping well for a while, so they'll need calcium supplements too.
"And, older people should pay attention to calcium supplementation," Lina said mischievously to Daryl.
Daryl squinted at Lina, thinking that he would teach her sooner or later what she could and couldn't say when a man was old.
The most important thing was food. Lina and Daryl hid their motorcycle and searched around town. They found a restaurant, but it was quite lively inside.
“We’ll go through the back door,” Lina whispered. Daryl nodded and raised his bow, gesturing for Lina to follow.
There were fewer walkers at the back door. When they opened the door, there were three inside. Daryl and Lina took turns quietly taking down all three, and then they quietly closed the front door leading to the kitchen.
Because of the power outage, the food in the refrigerator had already spoiled. Daryl rummaged through the cupboards and found some canned vegetables, corn, tomatoes, and the like.
Lina then pulled out two bags of rice, which was a good thing to have enough to eat.
The rice bags were much smaller than those in China; two bags together were only equivalent to one bag. Lina packed the two bags of rice.
“That’s too heavy,” Daryl said after glancing at it.
“It’s alright,” Lina shrugged. She could do it for rice.
Potatoes and sweet potatoes are foods that keep well, and there were still quite a few in the kitchen. Lina picked and chose and found quite a few that she could eat.
"Here are two more packets of sugar!" Even though they were just ordinary white sugar! Lina happily stuffed them into her backpack.
"Shall we go to the store later?" Daryl asked.
"No, we'll stop here. The shops have probably taken most of their supplies, and there are too many people over there. Don't take any risks," Lina said.
Their backpacks were half full. Lina put her backpack on with satisfaction, and then it was time for her big plan.
She touched the box in her pocket.
“Let’s go,” Daryl said, opening the door and checking outside before gesturing for Lina to follow.
The two walked around the edge of the town.
