Chapter 61

Chapter 61

The next morning, Lina and Daryl went out to find a car. With so many of them, they would need at least four drivable cars to squeeze in.

To be honest, it wasn't easy. After searching around, Daryl only found one drivable car.

Lina looked at the white sedan with a touch of melancholy. She really didn't want to be squeezed like a sandwich, but she knew these guys wouldn't let her drive.

Thanks to Moore's extensive publicity, everyone now knows that Lina is a road hazard.

Slander! This is slander!

But Andrea said she wouldn't take a case she was sure she'd lose, even in the apocalypse, she wanted to protect her reputation.

Tsk, is this something a lawyer should say?

However, when Lina got back, she found them studying the fire truck across the street. "I don't want to tie a rope to myself and hang from the roof..." Lina looked pale.

"Don't be so pessimistic, maybe you can snag one to hang on the side of the car," Amy teased.

“That sounds even worse,” Lina wrinkled her nose. “Have you found a car?”

“Glenn found one, but it’ll only last for a while. Its engine doesn’t sound very good.” Amy pointed to a blue family car that Moore and Glenn were examining.

"God help us find another car," Lina began to pray fervently.

Perhaps because the main characters' brilliance finally overshadowed Lina's unlucky nature, Tercy and Sasha also drove back in a car.

That's awesome! She doesn't have to be chained to the roof anymore!

The four vehicles were lined up in a row. Abraham, with Eugene, Rosita, Glenn, Maggie, Tara, and Moore, drove the fire truck at the front. The second vehicle was the car that Daryl and Lena had found, driven by Rick. Inside were Herschel, Beth, Dwayne, and Carl, with Carl holding Judith. The third vehicle was driven by Tyrese with Andrea, Carol, Sophia, and Amy. The last vehicle was driven by Daryl with Lena, Michonne, and Sasha.

It seems their team is still quite large; hopefully, it will remain so.

The convoy had only been traveling along Abraham's planned route for a short time when it had to stop. The vehicles they had found on the spot were really makeshift, and all of them had some problems.

Moore and Daryl busily moved between the convoy, fixing this and that, while Abraham squatted on the fire truck, studying it.

Lina was in charge of guarding the rear of the convoy, while Andrea, Carol, Tara, Rosita, and Glenn went around looking for any supplies they could collect.

Lena leaned against the back of the truck bed, feeling a bit bored. Eugene's confession was about to begin. Anyway, Lena supported Abraham taking a drastic step; she was still angry about what happened on the bus.

She really hated the feeling of being in a car accident, especially since this one was caused by someone.

Bored, Lina started thinking about the rest of the plot. The further she went, the less she remembered. Moreover, the plot had changed a lot. Beth wasn't taken to the hospital, and they didn't have to go back to Atlanta. The priest didn't go with them and stayed at the church. This made Lina a little regretful, but not too much so, since the priest had tricked everyone when they got to Alexandria.

Hopefully, he'll solo for a while and then reunite with everyone.

Lena felt that Gabriel, like his name, might have some divine favor, and his aura was no less than Rick's.

And then there's Morgan. Morgan will also find the church soon, but his storyline was changed back when he was in prison, so Lena isn't sure now.

It's fair to say that the storyline Lina knows now is completely invalid, and she's even unsure if they'll go to Alexandria.

They had originally gone to the vicinity of Richmond, Virginia, to deliver Noah, but after a long journey, they met Aaron and were taken back to Alexandria.

But now they are in the far south of Virginia.

To be honest, while the unknown filled Lina with the fear of being out of control, it also made her feel relieved. The further away from the Saviors the better.

“This smell…” Michonne couldn’t help but cover her nose.

Lina, who was in a daze, belatedly twitched her nose and sniffed the air. Then her face changed drastically, she covered her mouth and ran to the side to vomit.

It's refreshing and invigorating!

Michonne took a bottle of water from the car and walked towards Lina. "Are you alright?"

Lina took the water bottle shakily and took a big gulp. "It just happened suddenly," she said, explaining that she had impulsively taken a large gulp.

“…Um, no offense, but are you on your period?” Michonne asked in a low voice.

"I haven't had my period in a long time," Lina said nonchalantly; the last time she had her period was back at the farm.

Michonne gasped, her face contorting with disgust. "Do you have anything to do?" Michonne's gaze couldn't help but fall worriedly on Lina's stomach.

Lina followed her gaze to her stomach, looking at it several times before she realized, "No, I'm not pregnant!" Lina blushed, "I'm not that crazy," she said, she wasn't even eighteen yet, at least not of childbearing age!

“Life is unpredictable, are you sure? You’ve never had your period,” Michonne said seriously.

“Of course, we’ve taken precautions,” Lina said vaguely. “And I’m afraid I’m unlikely to get pregnant,” Lina patted her stomach. “I was seriously injured, though I didn’t remove it.”

Michonne's lips twitched slightly; she seemed quite proud of herself.

"Okay, be careful." Of course, Michonne meant "careful."

Lena was a little embarrassed. The two of them hadn't done it recently. They had been arguing, and after the argument, she got sick, then she got the flu, and everyone scattered. They finally managed to reunite, but wherever they went, there were large groups of people. She couldn't do what Rosita and Abraham did.

Daryl certainly couldn't either.

He dared to do it, but Lina dared to slap him so hard he'd knock him unconscious.

The main problem is that in her previous life, she lived in a society where sex was taboo, and even when she was in her twenties, she was only able to hold hands with boys. In this life, she's not even an adult yet!

She wouldn't dare do something so exciting; she felt like her ancestors would come to her in her dreams that night and beat her up.

Just as Lina and Michonne were chatting, the commotion ahead seemed to grow louder. Lina and Michonne exchanged a curious glance and walked forward.

Lina missed the most exciting part.

I only caught Eugene lying down.

Abraham was a very strong man, very strong! When he passed by Lena, Lena couldn't help but exclaim again that no matter how many times she had seen it, she was still shocked.

If Lina was like a large doll in front of others, then in front of Abraham, she could almost be regarded as a figurine.

He's practically grown up on hormones.

No wonder Negan decided to kill him the moment he saw him; anyone would be afraid of someone that big.

Besides, Negan was just a 'frail' physical education teacher.

Lena shuddered, feeling guilty for her inappropriate description of Negan.

Although Lena knew what had happened, she couldn't stop Amy, who thought she didn't know, or perhaps Amy just wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk with Lena. "Eugene lied to us, he's not a scientist..." This was clearly something that she, or rather, not just Lena, couldn't accept.

Lena looked around and saw that everyone was more or less on the verge of collapse. Herschel, being an older man, was very easygoing and didn't seem to be on the verge of collapse, but Beth was sadly nestled in his arms.

Mohr and Daryl were truly indifferent; no matter how this damn world turned out, it wouldn't make a difference to them.

Moreover, they already knew that things weren't that simple, and now that they'd heard it with their own ears, they felt a sense of "just as expected," as if it were exactly what they'd hoped for.

“It’s okay, as long as we’re still alive, that’s enough,” Lina patted Amy’s shoulder reassuringly. “But I think my hometown will be fine. Why don’t we grab Eugene and ask him to find a way to contact my hometown for me? I’ll take everyone home with me.”

Amy looked at Lina hesitantly, "You mean... China?"

“Yes,” Lina nodded. “I’m serious, my family will definitely be fine, or soon. Hang in there. In two years, when my mom comes to evacuate us, I’ll throw a tantrum and beg her to take us all with her. Then I’ll just say you’re all my wives or husbands, relatives, after all. It’s the apocalypse, so it can’t be considered bigamy, right? Wouldn’t I have to go to the civil affairs bureau and get a marriage certificate with each of you first?” As she spoke, Lina’s imagination ran wild.

Amy was a little confused. "Your mom? Wait, I'm a little dizzy..." Didn't her whole family pass away?

“Yes, that’s how we Chinese are. We tend to like to portray our own country as a mother, it’s so endearing,” Lina said.

“…That makes sense,” but Amy didn’t quite understand. “But aren’t you homophobic? A same-sex marriage certificate, you, uh, your mom would accept it?”

“…Good question,” Lina paused. “Times change, my mom is still very open-minded. At worst, you’ll all be my husbands’ sisters. Wait, this doesn’t seem to be included in the evacuation? Oh dear, does it count?” Lina hadn’t experienced this before and really didn’t know. There was no Google to search for her now.

"..." Amy, whose baby carrier straps had gone astray, rubbed her forehead in exasperation. "Let's change the subject," she thought, "why do I always get led astray by Lina?"

"What did you say?" Lina looked at Amy earnestly, and Amy was speechless for a moment. "Go away, go play somewhere else." Amy waved her hand to shoo Lina away. Sometimes she could be really annoying.

"Hehe~" Lina winked at Amy playfully, then skipped over to Eugene, eager to stir things up, and poked his soft cheek.

It's confirmed, it's fatty meat.

Oh no, I've confirmed it, I really am dizzy.

Maggie brought a ladder and placed it over Eugene's head, then covered him with a blanket to prevent him from getting sunburned. She also kicked away the gloating Lina, telling her to go and cause trouble for Daryl instead of bullying the sick man.

Lina pouted. She felt like a ball, being kicked around by everyone. Nobody loved her anymore. Humph.

Lina ran off to Daryl in a huff to complain, though she was just using it as an excuse to snuggle up to him and act cute.

If she can't do anything else, can't she at least apply something?

At least she's not like some men say, "I just rub against her."

She's real, she's just sticking on.
