Chapter 95

Chapter 95

“I’ll go check over there,” Lina pointed to the other side. They had been searching for traces of people for some time, and earlier they found several more zombies in the woods with “W”s carved on their foreheads. Daryl realized that those people had been tortured to death.

They had just seen a person in a red raincoat who was tracking him.

“No, the three of us should stay together,” Daryl said, putting down his binoculars.

"What is he wiping?" Aaron asked.

“Wild leeks, they repel mosquitoes,” Daryl said.

They chased after him, but the man had vanished without a trace. However, they discovered a cannery instead.

Lina had a feeling that something had happened here, but she couldn't remember. It shouldn't be anything serious, right? No one died, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

While she was still in a daze, Daryl and Aaron had already finished their discussion and were going inside.

There weren't many zombies inside, and the three of them quickly dealt with them through the iron fence. Once inside, they saw several large trucks parked there, which appeared to be filled with canned goods.

Lina walked around the carriage, observing carefully.

"I never expected to see a license plate like this!" Aaron exclaimed in surprise as he reached out to remove the license plate. Daryl saw the other side of the car and was about to reach out to pull it open.

Lina knocked on the carriage, and Daryl stopped.

The carriage was quite heavy and seemed unresponsive. Lina kicked it twice, and there was a thud inside.

Daryl narrowed his eyes and looked around the carriage. "There's a trap."

"What?" Aaron looked at Daryl in confusion as he finished installing the license plates.

“There should be walkers inside,” Lina said. “Listen.” Lina kicked the carriage twice more, almost denting it.

The noise coming from inside didn't sound like a can falling, and Aaron's expression turned serious.

"Maybe they were just trying to lure people here, along with that red raincoat," Lina and Daryl said, looking around but there was no one there. What were they after?

“Let’s go, no matter what, let’s get out of here first,” Daryl said.

“We should warn others,” Aaron said.

“Of course,” Lina nodded, took out some spray paint, and the three of them walked out of the food factory. They closed the iron gate and wrote on it: [The trucks are full of walkers, be careful.]

"Should we still go look for that person?" Lina asked.

“Let’s go check it out, they’ve been chasing us all the way,” Aaron said.

“It doesn’t matter,” Daryl said, “but we should be more careful.” Such a trap was probably no joke, and it reminded him of those zombies with Ws on their heads.

“Like those in the woods,” Lina said, referring to the remains they had found in the woods earlier, “there must have been a group of people who took pleasure in torture and killing.”

“…At least we have to try,” Aaron said after a moment of silence.

“Let’s go…who is it?” Daryl asked warily, raising his crossbow as he turned around.

"Oh my god! Morgan!" Lena ran up to Morgan in surprise and hugged him. "You're alright!" Morgan looked at Lena and Daryl with equal surprise. "I didn't expect it to be you two. I saw the food factory and thought I'd try my luck."

“Never mind all that, you absolutely have to come back with us,” Lina said, pulling Morgan’s hand. “Dwayne will be ecstatic.”

“Dwayne?” Morgan’s eyes reddened in disbelief. “I, I…” He choked up and couldn’t speak.

“After prison, Andrea and Amy met Sophia and Dewayne, and we’ve come a long way. Anyway, we’re in a community now that you’ll love,” Lina said.

“I went back to where Dwayne and Sophia parted ways,” Morgan struggled to compose himself. “Then, all I saw was Dwayne’s gun and shoes, and… and lots of blood…” Morgan recalled painfully. “I thought he… Later I met someone, a nice guy, but…” Morgan gripped the stick in his hand tightly. “I…”

“Let’s go,” Daryl said, glancing at Morgan and nodding. “Looks like you don’t need to worry about bringing back any gifts for Dwayne.” Daryl then said to Lena.

Aaron stared blankly at the three of them, but he roughly understood the whole story from their conversation. This operation was very fruitful, or rather, very meaningful.

The return journey was the same as the way there, except this time Aaron and Lina had Morgan in their car.

"How did you decide to come to this area?" Lina asked. "This place is quite far from where we were before, and how did you manage to stay here all by yourself?"

“Just keep moving forward,” Morgan smiled. “However, I did find a map.” Morgan took the map out of his pocket and gave it to Lina. “Actually, I’ve been asking for directions lately.”

Lina took it and glanced at it; it was the same one that had been blown away in the church, and Morgan had somehow managed to find it again.

“Abraham did a great deed indirectly,” Lena said with a smile. “You don’t know him yet. We met him after that. Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, and Father Gabriel—there are too many stories to tell. I won’t go into them now. You’ll have to wait for Dwayne to tell you.” Lena shoved the map into the front seat. “On the first day of work, I bet the people in the community are going to start nagging us again, saying, ‘These outsiders have taken over our community all of a sudden.’”

Aaron chuckled. "I didn't think that way. You guys have been a great help, I know that's true."

“You’re the only one who’s clear-headed,” Lina said. “Of course, Deanna is alright, but unfortunately, she’ll only be a decent leader when she truly begins to understand this world.” Lina’s eyes were deep, but once she started to change, her life had already begun its countdown.

“Rick will help her,” Aaron said casually. “He knows.”

He might have been able to, if he hadn't been thinking about becoming an NTR (Netorare, a sexual act involving sexual intercourse), Lina pursed her lips, he'd better not.

Halfway through their journey, they stopped to rest and eat some canned food to tide them over. Lina glanced at the sky and asked, "How about I drive for a bit?"

Daryl, who was not far away, instantly became alert. He looked at Aaron and shook his head slightly, but Aaron did not see Daryl's signal. By the time Morgan wanted to remind Aaron, Aaron had already happily agreed to Lena's request.

“Perfect timing, I have more time to hear our new friend’s story.” Aaron smiled at Morgan, who quietly gestured for him to look at Daryl. Daryl had stopped struggling and simply glanced at Aaron and Morgan before lowering his head to finish his food.

After finishing packing, before Morgan and Aaron got into the car, Daryl glanced at Lena, who wasn't paying attention to them, and whispered, "Fasten your seatbelts. That's the only advice I can give you."

Morgan had never ridden in a car driven by Lena, but judging from Daryl's reaction... Aaron looked completely bewildered.

Lina didn't care about any of that. She excitedly adjusted the seat and then honked the horn to urge them to get in the car quickly.

Morgan noticed that Daryl's motorcycle didn't lead the way; instead, he waited until the motorcycle started moving before following it.

At first, Aaron thought Daryl was joking, but a minute later, when the car sped along the highway at an incredible speed, Aaron realized what Daryl meant.

He quickly fastened his seatbelt and gripped the door handle tightly; Morgan wasn't much better off.

Fortunately, they cleared away the cars blocking their way along the way; otherwise, if there had been a car accident, oh my god.

By the time Daryl arrived in Alexandria, it was already dark. He knocked on the door, but no one seemed to be home.

"For people like them to still be alive is really lucky," Lina said speechlessly as she got out of the car.

Daryl looked at the wall, and Lena patted him on the shoulder. Daryl stepped forward, leaned against the wall, and assumed a horse stance. Lena took two steps back, ran towards Daryl, stepped on his knee, and landed her foot in his palm. Then he lifted her up forcefully, and Lena climbed over the wall and jumped over.

At this moment, Aaron and Morgan staggered out of the car, groaning.

Daryl scratched his cheek. The door opened from the inside, and Lena looked at Aaron and Morgan with a puzzled expression. "What's wrong with them?"

"Your stomach isn't feeling well, are you?" Daryl said calmly.

“Well, no wonder they haven’t said a word the whole way,” Lina called them in. Daryl felt that the atmosphere in Alexander was strange; he didn’t know where everyone was.

With Morgan by their side, the group arrived at Deanna's residence, which was noisy inside. Lina ran over quickly and found Reggie tugging at Petra.

"No!" Lina heard Diana scream as Reggie clutched his stomach and collapsed.

Lena frowned, grabbed Pete, pinned him to the ground, and pulled out a knife, holding it to his neck. "Looks like you haven't learned your lesson at all."

The three who arrived late stared blankly at the scene before them. Daryl looked at Rick, whose face looked like he had been brutally beaten, while Deanna was still groaning and hugging Reggie.

"Stop shouting, take him to the infirmary," Lina snapped.

“…Pete is a doctor,” Jesse said, looking at Lina with some confusion.

"Who knows if he went to save someone or kill someone?" Lina tightened her grip, and the pain made Pete too scared to move.

"Herschel, go find Herschel!" Rick shouted. "Carroll!"

Carol had already come to Reggie's side and was doing some quick hemostasis. "No, I can't pull it out. We need surgery," Carol said.

“Pete, Pete!” Deanna looked at Pete. “You,” she tried to remain calm. Lina knew that this man couldn’t be killed. She grabbed Pete and dragged him toward the infirmary.

“Darry!” Rick called out. Although he saw Morgan, it wasn’t the time to speak. He simply nodded excitedly at him.

Daryl and Rick carried Reggie toward the infirmary, while Andrea and Amy ran to find Herschel and led him toward the infirmary.

With Herschel's experience and even without much use for Pete, Reggie's surgery was a success.

Michonne breathed a sigh of relief. She recognized the knife as the one from their kitchen, which meant that Pete had initially gone to find the knife she had hung in the house. Fortunately, after Lena reminded her, she hid the knife in the bedroom, planning to put it at Lena's place later.

fortunately.

“There were no guards at the gate when we came back, and I easily climbed over the wall,” Lina said to Diana, who was sitting at the gate waiting for the surgery results. Diana was much calmer now, and when she heard Lina’s words, she just sighed helplessly.

“You lot have only survived this long by sheer luck,” Lina said sarcastically to Deanna. “So,” she looked at Rick, “what happened that I don’t know about?”
