Chapter 96
Just as Lena remembered, Pete believed that Rick was flirting with Jesse. Although Rick had explained to him, Pete did not listen and even became more violent towards Jesse.
Michonne was assisting Andrea with neighborhood relations mediation at the time; she couldn't just stand by and do nothing, could she?
Rick thought for a moment and decided to talk to Pete himself. During the conversation, Pete went crazy and started fighting with Rick.
The two fought until they were covered in blood, and to make matters worse, a gun fell from Rick's body—the very gun that had been stolen from the warehouse.
Hearing this, Lina pinched the bridge of her nose, then glared at Rick. What happened to being a model cop? He's already gone off to become a minotaur?
Rick was bruised and battered, but he could tell what Lina was thinking just by looking at her expression. But he was really innocent!
His business with Michonne isn't over yet, how could he have time to care about other women? He's just simply fulfilling his duty!
"Is there anything else?" Lina glanced at the dazed Deanna and asked Rick in a low voice.
They were all waiting outside the infirmary, where Herschel was finishing up the last bit of work, while Peter had been dragged into a small dark room and locked up by Daryl.
Rick glanced at Deanna, "Aiden,"
Lina frowned. "Dead?"
Rick nodded. "Things are a bit complicated, and there's also Moore, he's in the infirmary right now..."
Lina was stunned for a moment. "Is he... is he going to die?" Lina was a little panicked. Could it be that her reminder had caused Mor's death?
“No, no, he’s just injured, with a hole in his stomach,” Rick quickly reassured him. “However, Nicholas is accusing Moore of making a mistake that killed Aiden,” Rick said in a low voice. “He also accused Glenn and the others of being Moore’s accomplices, saying that while he was treating Aiden, Glenn and the others ran away with Moore.”
Lena rolled her eyes. "If we were really going to run away, Moore would definitely stab that Nicholas to death first, so he wouldn't come back alive and have a chance to smear him."
Rick shrugged. He thought so too. And with Glenn around, he would stop Moore from doing anything out of line. Despite Moore's usual demeanor, he was now willing to listen to everyone's opinions; he was just sharp-tongued.
"Then... is there anything else?" Lina asked tentatively.
“Tara is injured too, and she’s still unconscious. Other than that, nothing else has happened. Everyone else is fine,” Rick said sadly. “And,” Rick glanced around at the people, then pulled Lina to a corner, “I really have nothing to do with Jesse, really.”
"..." Lina glanced at Rick with disdain. "Does it matter whether I believe it or not?" She looked at Michonne. "Instead of explaining to me, you should talk to someone who needs an explanation more."
"..." Rick glanced back at Michonne, but only for a fleeting moment before turning back to Lina, gritting his teeth, "It's all your fault!"
"?" Lina was completely confused. What did this have to do with her?
Rick rubbed his face helplessly. Just then, the door opened, and Herschel and Maggie walked out wearily. Deanna quickly went up to them. "He's alright," Maggie reassured Deanna.
Deanna covered her mouth and cried. "I really... thank you," Deanna hugged Herschel and Maggie. "Can I?" She looked at the two of them nervously.
“Go ahead,” Maggie smiled and made way for Deanna.
Watching Deanna enter the infirmary, Maggie nervously approached Lina and Rick, asking, "You still haven't seen Glenn?"
“No,” Rick shook his head, looking at Maggie with some confusion, “Where did he go?”
“I don’t know either,” Maggie said anxiously. “We agreed he would come to the party tonight, but he didn’t.” Maggie sighed. “I was going to go look for him…”
They didn't need to search anymore. Maggie looked behind Lina and her expression froze. Lina and Rick turned around and saw Daryl and Glenn supporting Nicholas. It looked like Nicholas and Glenn had suffered quite a few injuries.
"My God!" Maggie rushed over to support Glenn. Glenn managed a weak smile, but the sharp pain in his shoulder made him gasp.
“Bring him in,” Herschel called out from a distance, his expression serious.
Seeing Daryl dragging Nicholas along, Lina stormed forward, shouting, "How dare you..."
"Lina!" Glenn suddenly shouted.
Lina paused for a moment and looked at Glenn. Glenn glanced at her awkwardly and smiled somewhat guiltily. "Could you help me inside?"
Lina glared angrily at Glenn, wanting to say something, but was defeated by Glenn's pleading eyes.
Maggie sighed, turned her head slightly in exasperation, pursed her lips, and looked at Lina.
"...You guys are so annoying!" Lina glared angrily at Nicholas, her anger finding nowhere to go, so she picked up Glenn and went into the infirmary without looking back.
Maggie was somewhat helpless. This was already a lot of face from Lina. She glanced at Nicholas, who didn't dare to look up at her, and then looked at Daryl. Daryl pouted and didn't say anything, but his face couldn't hide his disdain.
“Go inside,” Maggie smiled. “My dad’s a pro now.”
Nicholas was so ashamed that he only dared to glance at Maggie slightly before Daryl dragged him into the infirmary without looking back.
Maggie sighed. Glenn was too kind. A hint of gloom flashed in her eyes, but she quickly composed herself, put on a peaceful smile, and walked into the infirmary.
In the infirmary, Lina was standing by the hospital bed, bending down and poking at Moore's stomach. "Your stomach has really had a lot of trouble."
Moll slapped Lina's hand away in disgust and looked at Daryl, saying, "Why don't you do something about her?!"
Daryl calmly looked away and continued to stand beside Glenn, watching Herschel treat his wounds.
Moll glared angrily at Daryl, grabbed the blanket, and turned away despite the pain, ignoring Lina.
Lina wasn't angry and consciously moved to the other side, while Moore closed his eyes in annoyance.
What a terrible thing!
"Sorry," Lina said softly, glancing around to make sure no one was paying attention.
Moore's eyes widened in horror. "Are you out of your mind?"
"No," Lina said, a little embarrassed. She was used to bullying Moore, and this was the first time she had apologized to her since leaving the farm.
"I shouldn't have told you those things," Lina thought. She felt that if she hadn't told Moore those things, Moore wouldn't have kept a close eye on Aiden and would have gotten hurt as a result.
“…I’ve had enough,” Moore lay back down, rolled his eyes at the ceiling, and said, “Since you all like to blame yourselves for everything, why don’t you go find me an inflatable doll or a masturbator?” Although he would prefer a girl, there were suitable options.
“...Disgusting.” Lina moved away from Mor in disgust.
Moore grumbled, dissatisfied, "You have someone to take care of things, but what about me? I've never been this poor since I was born!"
"..." Lina really didn't know what to say, so she just silently took two steps back.
"Moor!" Daryl shouted, unable to contain himself any longer.
"What are you doing! Didn't she want to be the one to take the fall? That's all I want!" Moore shouted without backing down.
"Take your brain off and wash it!" Daryl said menacingly as he stepped forward. "You must be full of useless stuff in your head to have become such a coward again."
“Bullshit! I’m the toughest man in all of Georgia,” Moore shouted.
"..." Lina silently took two more steps back.
“I disagree,” Herschel said quipped. “I think I still have a place to compete with you.”
Glenn chuckled.
“It’s too late, old man. If you had come a few years earlier, you might have been able to…” Moore said.
"..." Lina glanced at the men present with disdain, shook her head and walked out of the infirmary. The topic was too sensitive; she didn't want to get involved.
Watching Lina walk out, Daryl glanced helplessly at Moore, "Are you alright?"
"It's nothing," Moore said nonchalantly. "I knew that kid was no good at first glance, but who knew he could be so stupid as to shoot a grenade and blow himself up into a steel bar. I was close by, so I poked him too. That policewoman got hit on the head by something on the shelf." Moore explained simply to Daryl.
“I told you he couldn’t do it, humph,” Moore sneered smugly. “I didn’t even flinch, I just ripped myself out.”
Glenn turned his head away, suppressing a laugh. Although Moore spoke casually, Glenn could not forget the overwhelming curses Moore had hurled at him when he pulled him up and lifted him up.
Daryl nodded, seemingly unsure how much he believed her, but thankfully Moore was alright. "Get some rest."
"Do you need to tell me?" Moore curled his lip. "Go hunt a deer for me, surely that'll do you the trick?"
"..." Daryl's lips twitched, and he glanced helplessly at Moore. "I know." It's all his fault for being incompetent. Amy is currently getting along very well with a young man from Alexander.
Andrea was relieved.
“Hey! Little brother.” Moore’s voice suddenly became steady, and Daryl looked up in confusion.
“Welcome back,” Moore said somewhat awkwardly.
Daryl smiled, nodded, and walked out with a light step, carrying his bow.
The room seemed to fall silent all of a sudden. Mo'er, feeling a little uneasy, pulled the blanket up to cover herself, closed her eyes, and started to sleep.
Maggie and Glenn exchanged a glance and smiled silently.
After bandaging Nicholas's wounds, Herschel calmly gave him some instructions, and with a gentle smile under Nicholas's guilty gaze, said, "Perhaps Father Gabriel would be happy to have someone to talk to."
Nicholas nodded hastily.
When Daryl returned home, Lena was sitting in the house in a daze, while Dwayne and Morgan were chatting animatedly. Daryl glanced over and sat down next to Lena. "What's wrong?"
Lina snapped out of her reverie and looked at Daryl. "I was just wondering what would happen next."
Daryl chuckled. “You’re not a prophet,” he said, putting his arm around Lina. “Look, everyone’s alright.”
“Hmph, I don’t think so,” Lina retorted unhappily, thinking of the three injured people.
“Still alive,” Daryl said.
“Then your expectations are too low,” Lina said, biting Daryl’s chin in dissatisfaction.
Daryl glanced down at Lina. "Stop fooling around."
Lina let go, whimpering as she snuggled into Daryl's arms. Where was the story again?
What were they doing in Alexandria again? Why does she only remember the food shortage and the Salvation Army? They don't seem to be lacking anything right now. Oh right, and what about W? When did they arrive?
"Help!" Lina collapsed into Daryl's arms in despair. "I can't take it anymore, the CPU is malfunctioning, carry me back to my room."
Daryl skillfully picked up Lena and calmly walked past Morgan and his son upstairs.
Of course, Morgan wasn't paying much attention to the young couple; his entire focus was on Dwyane, and at that moment, he was practically the happiest person in the world.
