"What's wrong with your brain? What are you doing with my driver's license? And you've lost it!" Daryl said, cursing from inside the car.

"I just got it by accident, who knew someone would steal my driver's license in broad daylight?" Moore shouted, clutching his stomach. But shouting made his stomach ache again.

"What the hell? What does that girl do?" Moore gritted his teeth in anger.

Daryl coughed but didn't say anything.

But Moore quickly noticed something was amiss. "Where did you get so much money? Did you rob someone?" Moore rummaged through his bag. "This must be tens of thousands, right?"

Including what I received last night, it's about 60,000.

What a sucker, Daryl thought with some annoyance.

"Whoosh!" Moore excitedly grabbed the money and started scattering it.

Daryl snatched the bag, grabbed the scattered money, stuffed it into the bag, and threw it onto the back seat. "Don't touch it, it belongs to someone else."

"What do you mean by 'someone else'? Which 'someone else'?" Moore's sharp eyes locked onto Daryl.

“What’s it to you?” Daryl shoved Moore. “You’d better pray you don’t run into the police on your way back.”

Daryl started the car, grumbling. Moore looked at Daryl with suspicion; his Dalia had a secret.

Lina rushed home and threw her bag on the sofa. The open bag spilled out, scattering things all over the floor. Frustrated, Lina kicked the things aside, and two small black notebooks caught her attention.

Mole Dixon

Daryl Dixon

He's thirty years old! But he looks like he's forty! Lina casually tossed the driver's license aside; she'd already paid for it, so he could just go and get a replacement himself.

Lina had barely settled down on the sofa when the phone rang again, and she glanced at it before slamming it down in frustration.

However, after dialing repeatedly, Lina finally had no choice but to answer the phone.

"What's wrong now?" Lina asked, annoyed.

“You’re the one who needs to explain to me what you did yesterday? The bar? The hotel? The police station? What did you do? Huh? Your uncle called me and contacted a lawyer to clean up your mess. Lena, I’ll say it one last time: if you moved out to do these things, then you’d better come back right now.” Edward said angrily.

"How did you know? Did you send people to watch me?" Lina sat up abruptly and shouted angrily.

“Shouldn’t you be being watched?” Edward demanded. “Look what you’ve been up to all night.”

"Who is it?" Lina said angrily. "How could you do this!"

“Don’t even think about escaping our sights until you learn to be a mature person,” Edward said.

"Go to hell!" Lina smashed her phone and lay angrily on the sofa, staring at the ceiling.

The phone rang incessantly again. Lina covered her ears with a pillow. She was really fed up with being watched; it made it hard for her to breathe!

After fuming for a while, Lina walked barefoot to the refrigerator, only to find the freezer empty; she had long since finished her ice cream.

Lina scratched her hair, walked to the door, put on her shoes, and went to the nearby supermarket to restock.

Lena skillfully picked out a basket of ice cream, then took out her bank card and handed it to the cashier.

"I'm sorry, miss, your card cannot be swiped." The cashier looked at her apologetically.

Lina was stunned. No way?

Fortunately, she had just withdrawn a lot of money yesterday and still had quite a bit left. Lina took out the money, which was just enough to pay for her ice cream.

In the end, only one coin remained.

Lina didn't want it and casually tossed it on the counter; carrying it would be too much trouble.

After returning home with her ice cream in her mouth, Lina picked up her phone and called Edward. "What are you doing? Why can't I use my card?"

“I thought you wouldn’t find out for a few days,” Edward sneered. “You withdrew so much money yesterday, and it’s all gone so quickly?”

"..." Lina, biting into her ice cream, didn't dare say where the money went. "It's none of your business. This is my money, and you have no right to interfere."

"You've only been out for a short time, and you think you're all grown up? How dare you talk to me like that." Every word Lina said today was hitting his sore spots. He practically wanted to grab this little brat right now and give her a good spanking.

“Who told you to be so annoying! I’m eighteen! I need my own space! You can’t keep staring at me!” Lina shouted.

"So what if you're eighteen? Look at you, what's the difference between you and a ten-year-old?" Edward yelled. "At least a ten-year-old knew not to go to dangerous places! And knew to be frugal with money! You think you're so great at throwing money at people now? I'll show you how!"

"You're so annoying!" Lina shouted angrily. "Mind your own business! I'm trying to boost the economy!"

"Ha!" Edward suppressed his anger. "You wanted to move out, and I let you move out, and this is all the trouble you've caused!"

Lena nervously bit the ice cream spoon, not daring to speak. She was only relying on the fact that she was far away now; if she were still in DC, she would be facing the wall by now.

“Your card won’t be reinstated for now. Your uncle is furious. He gave you a choice: either find a job, anything, and experience life, or go back to your studies. I suggest you choose the second one; at least it will put your sluggish brain to work,” Edward said. “You can’t keep messing around like this; you’re going to become utterly degenerate!”

"...You've been in America for so many years, how can you still be so old-fashioned? How have I become decadent? I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't smoke drugs, and I don't gamble. I'm practically the most proactive person in the world," Lina said disdainfully.

"..." Edward laughed angrily. He didn't know what to say. She used to be more obedient in front of him, but now she was like a wild donkey that had broken free of its reins, stubborn to no end.

"Anyway, I've delivered the message. It's up to you," Edward said.

"...I'm out of money, at least leave me some money for food?" Lina said.

"You just withdrew 100,000 yesterday, and you've spent it all? What did you do?" Edward questioned.

Lina bit her spoon, scratching her head in frustration. "It's lost."

"Then go call the police!" Edward said angrily. "Go to college in Florida, or go back to college in DC, or you'll deserve to starve!"

Edward angrily hung up the phone. Lena sadly threw away her phone and ate her ice cream in despair, regretting that she hadn't given him all the money.

So annoying.

She spent all her cash, and now she's in deep trouble.

Lena crawled over, grabbed her phone, and texted Edward: "How many people did you send to follow me?"

Nobody's watching you.

"Nonsense, how could I know that much?" Lina angrily poked at her phone...

Damn, this phone was a gift that her uncle recently air-freighted over to her.

I'm so annoyed.

Finding a job is out of the question. With her barely graduated high school diploma (which she bought with money because she was bedridden for so long after the car accident, and Edward was so easy to talk to back then!), how could she possibly be expected to work as a waitress or a cashier?

Are you kidding me? She can't possibly endure that kind of suffering.

The greatest hardship I've ever endured in my life is medicine. As for the hardships of life, let whoever wants to suffer them suffer!

Lina hung upside down on the sofa, her gaze fixed on the two black driver's licenses.

Making him pay back some money isn't unreasonable, is it?

Lina's gaze darted around guiltily, but in the end, she was defeated by the choice between going to school and working. She didn't want to do either of those things! She could be a freeloader, why should she do these things?

Lina rushed into the house to tidy up, ran into the garage, got in the car, and sped away.

While we're at it, let's destroy this phone that's been monitoring her on the way.

"Hmph, keep an eye on it," Lina clapped her hands in satisfaction as she watched the stray cat leave with the phone strapped to it.

snort!

Without her phone, Lina couldn't navigate, so she drove aimlessly, asking for directions everywhere, but eventually she found her way.

He lived like a wild man in a remote little hut.

This house is almost like it's in the jungle.

Lina got out of the car and knocked on the door, but it was pitch black and silent inside.

Are you not home?

Lina sat on the steps, looking towards the door. She must have been out of her mind for a moment; how did she end up here?

Maybe he's a bad guy who's just hiding well?

It was still a bit chilly at night, so Lina huddled by the stairs, wrapped herself tightly in her clothes, and drifted off to sleep.

*

Is he blind?

Daryl stared blankly at the woman sitting in front of the door. He had come back to find some documents for renewing his driver's license, but...

Why is she so persistent?

Daryl squatted down in front of Lina, frowning and staring at her for a long time. What was she doing here? Sleeping so soundly in front of someone else's house?

It's just that his dad isn't home right now; otherwise, the next time he saw her would be on the news.

Daryl ignored Lina, took out his key from under the carpet, opened the door, and went inside.

The sound of the door closing woke Lina. Still half-asleep, Lina looked around. Had she misheard?

No, that car!

A moment later, the door behind her opened, and Lina turned around to see Daryl!

“Hey, Daryl,” Lina called out.

Daryl paused for a moment, "You investigated me?"

“No!” Lina pulled her driver’s license out of her pocket. “I see the address is here, and your information is on it.”

His driver's license is fine; he doesn't need to get it renewed.

Daryl snatched his driver's license back, then turned and got into his car; he had no desire to deal with these rich, crazy people.

Lena stared blankly as Daryl left without looking back. She stomped her feet angrily, then ran to her car and chased after him.

Tsk, what am I supposed to do following him? Daryl glanced at the rearview mirror with annoyance. An hour has passed, and he's still relentlessly chasing after me.

He drives like a madman.

Daryl slammed on the brakes in frustration.

The whole car then shook.

Daryl got out of the car speechlessly. "What exactly do you want?" Well, his car was practically totaled, and her car... tsk, it was even worse.

Lina got out of the car, feeling dizzy. "Don't you have any sense of public decency? Why did you suddenly brake in the middle of the road like that?!"

Daryl was almost laughing in anger. He grabbed Lina by the collar and pulled her close. "What are you trying to do?"

I simply can't bring myself to say something like "I'll give you half your money back" right now.

Looking into the man's blue eyes, which seemed to have been soaked in water, Lina opened her mouth, her tongue tied, and stammered, "Brother, wanna go out?"
