Chapter 474 A Promise for the Next Life

Chapter 474 A Promise for the Next Life

Shen Jiheng held her tightly in his arms. He had originally planned to wait until the right time to tell Han Xi, so as to avoid her being unable to bear it now.

However, she was so worried about Han Chuang's situation that she remained agitated and unable to calm down.

Now that Han Xi has been deceived by Li Hai's fake map, and Bo Siye is using this matter to make trouble, if he doesn't tell the truth soon, Han Xi will definitely fall for it.

In order to avoid more serious consequences, he had no choice but to tell her the truth.

Han Xi took a deep breath and asked, "Where is Xiao Chuang?"

"The director has made arrangements at Hengtian's morgue. Would you like to go see him?"

Shen Jiheng spoke softly, worried that she might get hurt.

Han Xi shook her head. She didn't have the courage to see Han Chuang right now; she was afraid she wouldn't be able to control her emotions.

"What about Han Xiao? Now that we no longer have a hostage to threaten us, what will they do with her?"

“When the chaos broke out on the bridge yesterday, Han Xiao got separated from everyone. I heard that Li Hai’s men are searching everywhere, so she should have escaped.”

Han Xi closed her eyes to calm herself down, took a deep breath and said, "Does she know about Xiao Chuang's matter?"

Shen Jiheng nodded: "Falling from such a high bridge, you can imagine the consequences, but..."

Shen Jiheng hesitated for a moment, but under Han Xi's questioning gaze, he continued, "She ran away without even turning her head."

Without even turning her head, she caused the death of her own younger brother as soon as she was released from prison. Didn't she feel even a little bit of guilt?

Han Xi gritted her teeth and said, "Ji Heng, please help me find this person. If it weren't for her viciousness, Xiao Chuang wouldn't have ended up like this. I must find her."

Shen Jiheng nodded, tenderly stroking her face.

"Don't be sad. I just couldn't bring myself to speak because I didn't want to see you like this. Also, my father-in-law called me several times today. He's very worried."

Han Xi stared blankly at the ceiling, thinking about all the changes Han Yue had made, all in order to bring Han Chuang back.

"We absolutely cannot let him know about this. We'll just say he went abroad to live with Han Xiao."

As long as the other person is alive, there is hope and something to look forward to. Han Xi didn't want him to suffer this pain anymore.

Shen Jiheng nodded: "We think the same way."

Shen Jiheng's gentle voice returned to its former self, and Han Xi understood that he hadn't changed these past two days, but rather that he couldn't face her.

She cupped Shen Jiheng's face in her hands, "Silly boy, why did you have to bear all this alone? You should have told me sooner, and I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble and caused you any more problems."

Thinking about how she was tricked into going to find Li Hai, and how she almost believed Bo Siye's words and planned to beg him to tell her whereabouts.

She did so many stupid things, causing Shen Jiheng to keep coming to help her solve problems.

If she hadn't made such a fuss, Shen Jiheng wouldn't have revealed the truth.

Shen Jiheng held her hand and said, "Because I can't bear to see you suffer, it's enough for me to bear these burdens."

Han Xi shook her head; how could she bear to let Shen Jiheng bear all of this alone?

Shen Jiheng quietly stayed with her until she calmed down before letting her open her phone to see the message Han Chuang had left for her.

Han Xi was both curious and nervous about the message her child left for her on her deathbed.

The moment the phone screen lit up and Han Chuang's small face appeared, Han Xi covered her mouth, her heart breaking.

Only his face could be seen in the picture, and the bloodstains that hadn't been wiped away made Han Xi imagine how tragic the scene must have been.

Han Chuang opened his mouth, and a faint sound came out.

"Sister, I'm so tired, I have to go now. Don't blame yourself. I'm just going to live in another world. In the next life, I want to be your child, okay?"

Han Xi nodded with tears streaming down her face, and with difficulty opened her mouth, choking back sobs, and replied, "Okay, it's a promise."

"Don't tell them I'm dead. I don't want everyone to be sad. I was actually very happy to live with you all. I'll always be watching over you from heaven, so don't cry, sister..."

He took two minutes to finish his brief sentence. When the scene stopped, Han Xi's heart felt as if it had been frozen, and she felt a pain that made it hard to breathe.

Shen Jiheng hugged her tightly and said heavily, "If you want to cry, just cry. I'll stay here with you."

"Why...why did it turn out like this? These damned bastards, give Xiao Chuang back to me!"

Han Chuang was already family to her; he brought so much joy to everyone, and she never wanted to be separated from him in this lifetime.

Han Xi said painfully, "He's only a few years old. God is so unfair to him."

Shen Jiheng didn't try to persuade her. He gently patted her shoulder and told her to cry it out. He knew she would go crazy if she didn't release her emotions.

Han Xi's sobs echoed in the office, heartbreaking to hear.

She didn't know how much time had passed before Han Xi fell asleep in his arms. When she woke up, she saw the streetlights outside the window; it was already dark.

Shen Jiheng gently stroked her head and asked considerately, "Are you feeling better?"

Han Xi opened her swollen eyes and nodded, her voice hoarse and unwilling to speak.

Shen Jiheng comforted him, saying, "Some things are preordained; perhaps this is his destiny."

Han Xi leaned against him and closed her eyes. Han Chuang's fate had been full of hardships, but now he could finally be free.

Shen Jiheng thoughtfully said, "Let's go back to the villa tonight and visit your father-in-law tomorrow."

Han Xi is in a state where she cannot see anyone else.

"Okay~" Han Xi was feeling down, so she could only listen to his arrangements for now.

Shen Jiheng simply picked her up and carried her in his arms without saying a word the whole way, letting her calm down on her own.

Han Xi slept unusually soundly that night, without even experiencing insomnia.

As she fell asleep thinking about Han Chuang, it seemed as if a mysterious force was accompanying her.

Perhaps, just as Han Chuang said, he will always watch over them and accompany her in another form.

Shen Jiheng lay down beside her, a faint smile on his face.

"Good morning, it's dawn, we still have a lot to do."

Shen Jiheng wanted to help her bring Han Xiao back, and also deal with Li Hai's situation. Today was his last chance, and they would definitely try every means to find connections to suppress the situation.

Han Xi nodded firmly: "You're right, there's still a lot to do, but before that, I'd like to go back over there."

Shen Jiheng understood what she meant.

"I'll go back with you and check on the children while I'm at it."

Last night, Han Yue sent several messages to inquire about the situation, but Han Xi did not respond. He must be anxiously waiting.

Since Han Chuang's last wish was not to make everyone sad because of him, Han Xi must do that.

With Shen Jiheng by her side, Han Xi always felt at ease, and she smiled faintly.

"Okay, let's go back together."

Seeing that she was not in good spirits, Shen Jiheng thoughtfully helped her change her clothes and then took her downstairs to have a meal, treating her completely like a child.

Feeling his love, Han Xi felt warm inside.

Upon arriving at Han Yue's villa, laughter could be heard coming from inside as soon as the door was reached.

Fortunately, Han Yuxuan and his sister have been here recently, which has distracted Han Yue a lot, so he hasn't been able to think of too many problems.

As soon as Han Xi entered the door, he saw him playing with the two siblings in the living room. The three of them were hugging each other and laughing happily.

It would be nice if this happiness could last forever.
