Chapter 6 Sending the Divorce Agreement
Four days later, at the villa, Han Xi still hadn't returned.
Shen Jiheng didn't really enjoy his breakfast.
His mood also began to become noticeably restless. He picked up his iPad and focused on his work, trying to use busyness to mask this unfamiliar feeling of unease.
As he walked to the foyer to change his shoes after breakfast, his anxiety reached its peak.
At this time in the past, Han Xi would come over to help him straighten his clothes or tie, and then ask him if he had any business dinners at noon. If not, she would deliver lunch to his company.
For the past three years, whenever he returned to the villa, this was always the routine, no matter how late the two of them had been up all night.
However, these past few days...
Shen Jiheng finally realized that something was wrong.
He looked at Han Xi's slippers under the shoe cabinet, pinched his furrowed brow, picked up his phone, and dialed Han Xi's number.
"Happy breakup, I wish you happiness, I will find someone better..." The phone rang.
Shen Jiheng: "..."
In his memory, Han Xi's ringtone wasn't this one.
Thinking he had dialed the wrong number, he subconsciously glanced at his phone screen to confirm that it was indeed Han Xi calling.
After an unfamiliar ringtone, the phone was finally answered.
"Hello."
Han Xi leaned against the hospital bed. Because her ribs were broken and had not yet healed, she felt a dull pain in her chest when she ate a steamed bun.
"Han Xi, do you want to calculate how many days you haven't been home? Where have you been? Why haven't you come home at night?" Shen Jiheng's voice was harsh and gruff.
"Heh—" The laugh was full of Han Xi's sarcasm. "It's rare that President Shen stayed for so long this time and still noticed that I wasn't home."
"President Shen?" Shen Jiheng scoffed. "You called me 'husband' when you begged me for it, but after we were done, you became President Shen? Han Xi, you're really something."
"Where are you?" He just wanted to know where she had been these past few days.
"Nowhere," Han Xi said casually. "Let's have dinner together tonight, a private room at Dingminglou will do."
She had just turned on her phone this morning, intending to contact Shen Jiheng.
Shen Jiheng lost his patience. "I'm asking you where you are now?"
"Does it matter? Do we want to have dinner together tonight?"
Shen Jiheng glanced at the calendar, his brows furrowing slightly. May 8th.
"I have something to do tonight, so let's do it around noon." His voice softened.
Han Xi bit her lower lip, the physical and emotional pain resonating once again.
Today is her birthday. Last year, Shen Jiheng promised to celebrate her 24th birthday with her, but now it's clear he's going to break his promise.
His promises to her were never fulfilled.
"No need, Shen Jiheng, let's leave it at that."
After hanging up the phone, Han Xi casually added Shen Jiheng's number to her blacklist, and then blocked all other contact methods as well.
She was afraid that if she became so sad that she felt suffocated, she wouldn't be able to resist contacting the other person again.
She had originally planned to give him the divorce papers after dinner today, so they could part amicably, but now it's clear he has no intention of keeping his promise.
Since that's the case, let's leave it at that.
Standing to the side, Zhuo Qingqian held the divorce agreement drafted by Han Xi in her hand and sighed, "If you ask me, you're just stupid. He cheated on you during the marriage and even had a child. In this situation, you didn't let him leave with nothing, and you even returned the shares that Old Master Shen gave you to him. You're doing charity all over him."
Han Xi pursed her lips. "I'm selling the shares to him, not giving them back. Otherwise, the annual dividends will be a struggle. Qingqian, I want to let go completely."
She has truly come to her senses.
Zhuo Qingqian was stunned for a moment before she reacted, "You mean, you sold the shares to him because you didn't want to have anything to do with him in the future? I thought you transferred the shares at such a low price because..."
Han Xi lowered her eyes, concealing the unbearable sadness and desolation in them. "I did this so that I could get a divorce as soon as possible. Shen's funds are all tied up in the research and development of a new drug for a niche disease. The only liquid funds he has are roughly the amount in my contract shares, around one billion."
This topic is clearly not suitable to continue discussing.
"I'll go deliver the divorce papers to you first, and then I'll bring you lunch. Oh, and I brought you the iPad. Try to distract yourself; the doctor said you can't have any more painkillers today."
Han Xi covered her face with a tissue, tilted her head back, and after a long while removed the tissue, forcing a smile.
She and Shen Jiheng have finally reached this point.
