Chapter 80 Can't Men Tell If It's Green Tea?
Han Xi has been married to him for three years, and he has never spoken to her with such deep affection before. Now he is explaining so much, but it's all for the sake of other women.
"I'm telling you this so you can understand that she's like family to me."
Han Xi smiled wryly and asked, "After saying so much, I want to know, what am I to you?"
Shen Jiheng was slightly taken aback, clearly not expecting her to ask this question.
He didn't know what it resembled, but he was very clear that Han Xi was very important to him.
Silence is also an answer; not responding says it all.
"I'm tired, don't bother me. I won't interfere in your affairs either. Just take care of yourself."
Shen Jiheng raised his hand to knock on the door but froze. Even if he went in, what could he say?
The next morning, Han Xi was still fast asleep when a burst of cheerful laughter woke her up. She stretched and went to the balcony, where she saw a woman in a white dress dancing in the yard.
The dance was not standard and even a bit comical, which made Old Mrs. Shen laugh.
When the woman turned around, Han Xi's pupils dilated; it was Bai Xue.
Her smile was radiant, and her youthful energy was captivating.
"Grandma, how did I dance? Did I have your style back then?"
When she was young, Mrs. Shen was a well-known dancer in China. Bai Xue, knowing her interests, specially learned a few retro dances to please her.
Now that Gu Hanxi is no longer a threat, she can do whatever she wants.
The first priority, of course, is to win over Shen Jiheng, become the most powerful wife in Chongqing, and change her lowly status as an illegitimate daughter.
"Back when my legs were still strong, I would want to wiggle around whenever I saw a stage. You're not as good as me."
"Of course, Grandma, your dancing skills were famous back then. Even if I practiced for another ten years, I still couldn't compare to you. I'll just be your little fangirl and admire you."
The old lady patted her cheek: "You really know how to make people happy. Ji Heng and his wife haven't gotten up yet, you'll have to wait a little longer."
Bai Xue smiled innocently and said, "Then I'll go upstairs and wait for them. I also want to see my sister-in-law."
Yesterday, the old lady was still worried about the scandal, but this morning Bai Xue came over in person to explain, and the old lady was relieved after learning that she was the woman in the scandal.
In their eyes, Bai Xue was just a child, and they took it all as a misunderstanding, so they had no wariness towards her.
"Then go ahead. Han Xi is pregnant, so don't disturb her."
"I understand!"
Bai Xue made a cute face and ran upstairs, then opened the door to Shen Jiheng's room and went inside.
Han Xi saw this scene through the crack in the door and couldn't help but frown.
She knew Shen Jiheng's personality; he hated being disturbed while sleeping and wouldn't allow anyone to enter his room without permission.
If Bai Xue runs in, she'll probably be scolded and kicked out soon.
However, a moment later, laughter and playful banter came from inside the room. Surprisingly, Shen Jiheng didn't scold her; instead, he chatted with her.
Han Xi felt a throbbing pain in her chest; it turned out that Shen Jiheng's taboos could be changed based on other people's opinions.
But why be so cruel to yourself?
When it was lunchtime, Han Xi came to the dining room and saw Bai Xue sitting next to Shen Jiheng. The two were chatting and laughing intimately.
Bai Xue caught a glimpse of her coming over, smiled, and placed her hand on Shen Jiheng's face.
"Brother Ji Heng, you seem to have become even more handsome."
Just as Shen Jiheng was about to pull her hand away, he heard Han Xi say from behind, "Grandma, I don't have an appetite today. You guys eat. I have some business to attend to at my law firm and need to go back."
The old lady quickly stopped her: "This won't do. Even if you don't have an appetite, you still have to eat. You can't let the baby go hungry. Besides, Grandma wants to introduce you to someone."
As soon as the old lady finished speaking, Bai Xue ran over and warmly took Han Xi's hand.
"You must be my sister-in-law, you're so beautiful. I'm Bai Xue, Ji Heng's little follower. I've come here today to apologize to you. Yesterday, some shady reporter took photos of me and Ji Heng and posted them online, spreading rumors."
Bai Xue, with an innocent and generous demeanor, continued to explain, "We were just so happy that we hugged each other. It's not like what's being said online. Please don't misunderstand."
Madam Shen chimed in, "We're relieved that it's Bai Xue. She's known Ji Heng since childhood. It's all those media outlets that are making things up."
“I think my sister-in-law is a reasonable person and she definitely won’t misunderstand. Grandma specially asked the kitchen to prepare a lot of dishes for you. If you don’t eat them, she will be very disappointed.”
The implication was that her leaving at mealtime was disrespectful to the elderly.
The words spoken by seemingly harmless people are often the most deadly. Facing the old lady's gaze, Han Xi already felt somewhat guilty.
The atmosphere became oppressive, as if countless hands were gripping her.
What could she do but compromise?
Just as Han Xi was about to turn around, Shen Jiheng walked over, feigning surprise, and pulled Han Xi away from the three women to the other side.
"Han Xi, now that you mention it, I just remembered. It's a legal issue with my friend's company, right? Wasn't it supposed to be resolved by this morning? Have you forgotten?"
As Shen Jiheng spoke, he winked at her. He had seen her embarrassment earlier and knew she didn't want to stay, so he had to find an excuse for her.
Han Xi realized what was happening and nodded: "Yes, if it's not handled properly, it will cause a lot of trouble. I don't want this kind of mistake to happen so soon after I take over."
"Then what are we waiting for? I'll take you there right now." Shen Jiheng said anxiously, turning back to look at the old lady. "Grandma, you all eat first, no need to wait. I'll take her out to eat later."
The old lady wanted to say a few more words of advice, but Shen Jiheng had already helped Han Xi towards the garage, so she had no choice but to give up.
Bai Xue clenched her fists secretly, but when she saw the two exchanging glances, she was surprised that Shen Jiheng would dote on her so much that he even dared to deceive the old lady.
Han Xi was wondering why Shen Jiheng would take her away the moment she fastened her seatbelt.
"Where do you want to go?"
Why did you send me out?
"I know you don't want to stay at home. If it's because of Bai Xue, there's no need to worry. She's just a carefree person and doesn't mean any harm."
Han Xi chuckled. Can't men really tell the difference between a green tea b*tch?
If Snow White were truly so naive, how could her words have made the other person feel uncomfortable?
"I want to go to the university town for a stroll, will you come with me?"
He thought Han Xi was going to avoid him, but he didn't expect her to invite him along.
Why did you suddenly want to go here?
Han Xi turned to look at him because she wanted to return her initial love at first sight and all her affection to him, and it was also time to sort out her past feelings.
Shen Jiheng noticed the sadness in her eyes and felt uneasy, wondering what was making her sad.
Unexpectedly, just as the two parked their car at the entrance of the university town, a familiar figure appeared in front of them. It just so happened that it was Bo Siye standing there.
When Bo Siye saw the two people getting out of the car, he was also stunned. His gaze fell on Han Xi, and he was both surprised and delighted.
"Han Xi, what are you doing here?"
Shen Jiheng's face was as ugly as it could possibly be. He couldn't understand why Han Xi would suddenly come here, and now it turned out it was because of his ex-lover.
Han Xi shook his head with a wry smile. Was this fate? He had originally planned to tell Shen Jiheng everything about his university days today, but he still didn't have the chance.
