In Consort Chen's palace.
"Your Highness, the Second Prince requests an audience," came the report from Consort Chen's personal maid.
"Oh? What brings him here? All these years, he's never even remembered this old woman!"
"Ah Rong, let's go see what he's here for."
"Your Highness, let me help you." Ah Rong reached out to steady Consort Chen.
"Grandson greets the Dowager Consort." In the side hall, Xiao Ding respectfully bowed to the Dowager Consort Chen.
"Get up. Oh dear, child, what happened to you?" Consort Chen felt a pang of heartache for a second when she saw the wrinkles in Xiao Ding's clothes and his slightly disheveled hair.
The main reason is that Xiao Ding looks very much like the person she has been longing for.
Although she never got that person.
Upon seeing Xiao Ding, Consort Chen recalled the words spoken by that man on her wedding night when her veil was lifted.
"I can give you wealth and honor, and my family unparalleled glory, but I cannot give you children or love. Have you thought this through?"
The man lay on the bed, speaking in a weak voice.
Looking at the face she had longed for, Consort Chen nodded with tears in her eyes.
She was a concubine chosen to marry a man to bring him good fortune, and she accepted it willingly.
After his death, his beloved followed him in death.
She made up her mind to guard the imperial city and protect the country for him.
However, Zhao Yunwan's methods were too insidious, and she also grew to dislike the prince who resembled that person.
"Your Highness, Ding'er has been living in a daze these past few years and has long forgotten the dignity of a prince," Xiao Ding replied cautiously.
"How can you talk like that? Do you think she'll feel sorry for you?" Even the evil spirits within him were anxious for him.

Upon hearing Xiao Ding's words, Consort Chen knew that someone like Zhao Yunwan could not be taught anything good.

"What brings you here today? Tell me, and I'll help you if I can." Consort Chen wanted to get rid of him as soon as possible.
"Watch me." After the demon finished speaking, Xiao Ding looked at Consort Chen and saw that Consort Chen's expression softened.
"Hurry up and make your request, my illusion spell can only last for the time it takes to brew a cup of tea," the demon warned.
"Your Highness, Ding'er wants to learn martial arts to improve his health, but no one in the palace knows kung fu."
"So, I'd like to borrow someone from you," Xiao Ding tentatively asked.
"Ruofeng, from now on you will follow the Second Prince?" Consort Chen ordered.
A man flashed in through the window. He was about thirty years old, tall and slender, with an ordinary face, the kind of person who wouldn't stand out in a crowd.
"Ruofeng greets the Second Prince." Ruofeng knelt on one knee.
"Your Highness, thank you! I will take Ruofeng back to Chonghua Palace now and have him teach me martial arts." Xiao Ding suppressed his excitement.
He then knelt before Consort Chen and left the palace.
Ah Rong wanted to say something, but Consort Chen stopped her.
Xiao Ding and Ruofeng returned to Chonghua Palace in high spirits.
As soon as he entered the house, Ruofeng felt as if he was bound by something and could not move.
But I could feel that there were no ropes or anything else on my body.
But I just can't move my feet.
Ruofeng thought to himself, "This is bad."
But he was also unable to call for help.
Xiao Ding looked at Ruofeng with a sinister smile on his face.
"I will treat your body well, Ruo Guardian, you can rest in peace!"
"I will take good care of your family too!"
"Come, cast the spell!" Xiao Ding said to the demon within his body.
"I must keep this person's soul; it will allow me to recover a lot of my cultivation!" The demon's greedy voice disgusted Xiao Ding.
"No, I've left your soul behind. This person's soul must be kept to nourish my own. Otherwise, I'll end it right now!"
Xiao Ding held a dagger in his hand.
"As you wish, as you wish." You little brat, once he recovers his cultivation, will he still have trouble devouring this soul?
Xiao Ding loathed this demon, yet he had no choice but to rely on its power.
He doesn't want to disappear.
But he can give up his identity; as long as he's alive, he can always make a comeback!
"I will first extract your soul and spirit, and then put them into this guard's body."
Xiao Ding quietly cut his finger, letting the blood flow.
Then he walked up to Ruofeng and cut Ruofeng's hand as well.
"Is it ready?" Xiao Ding urged the demon.
"Soon, what's the rush! You'll be free soon!" came the demon's excited voice.
Xiao Ding is free, and so is he.
Thinking that he would soon regain his peak cultivation level, the demon felt that although he had wasted a few years, it was worth it.
As the light and shadow shifted, Xiao Ding felt himself enter this unfamiliar body.
In a flash, Xiao Ding was able to move.
Then, he quickly grabbed the hand that was originally on his body and dripped Ruofeng's blood into the cut on his hand.
Then he began chanting a spell.
"You shall serve me as my master and shall not disobey my will, or you shall die and your soul shall perish."
"What did you do to me?" the demon demanded angrily.
"Nothing much, just an ancient spell. Looks like it worked?" Xiao Ding was secretly delighted!
Xiao Ding ignored the demon and sat down in the chair. He needed to devour Ruofeng's soul first.
After reading all of Ruofeng's memories, Xiao Ding began to meditate.
He had already ordered the palace servants to seal off the entrance to Chonghua Palace, and no one was to be seen.
A while after Xiao Ding left, Consort Chen regained consciousness.
