Chapter 10 The Mastermind (1/2)

The space wasn't very big, so there was limited room for things, just a few boxes. Zhu Qinghao didn't have time to look at them closely. After putting them into her spatial storage, she used the space to run into the living room, panting heavily.

She wasn't tired, just a little nervous.

She didn't need to empty the house to arouse suspicion, but the Zhu family's demotion was clearly a deliberate act, and whether they stayed or not wouldn't change the outcome.

Moreover, she knew from her time as a ghost that the Zhu family had acted too helplessly in her previous life, making people realize that they had no one to help them, which is why others were so unscrupulous.

So much so that they dared to let Zhao Cheng die "accidentally" and let Zhu Qi'an die from serious injuries.

She was taking a gamble this time, hoping that those people would realize the Zhu family knew about their plans in advance and thus become wary.

She wasn't sure how they would react—would they become desperate, or would they back down out of fear?

She thought the plan was feasible at the time, but now that her family members are in their hands, she's panicking.

These days, there are no rules against hitting people. What if they can't find the item and then cause trouble for the Zhu family...?

While keeping a close eye on these people's movements, Zhu Qinghao tried her best to calm herself down.

"Boss, there's only a little over a hundred yuan here, two watches, and some daily necessities. There's nothing else of value."

"Boss, me too. There's only some money and a few pieces of jewelry in this bag. I didn't find anything else."

"Boss, me too..."

"Boss..."

The sounds coming from all directions made Zhang Jian's shifty-eyed face lose its smile.

Even after a soldier successfully "searched" the study and found foreign language books and letters, it still didn't change his expression.

Because this was something he arranged; it wasn't actually found at the Zhu family's residence!

His expression was cold as he scanned all the people. Although he knew they wouldn't dare to lie to him, he still searched the entire Zhu family and found nothing noteworthy.

Back in the living room, Zhang Jian's face was ashen, so dark that his lackeys dared not utter a sound.

Finally, one of his closer subordinates approached him and stammered:

"Boss, do you think the Zhu family got wind of this beforehand and transferred their assets?"

After all, no one wants to believe that there would be nothing to be found in the home of a former big capitalist.

Zhang Jian slapped him across the head, but he couldn't think of any other reasonable explanation and had to admit that what he said made sense.

"I'm afraid that's really the case."

The subordinate, who had been slapped, didn't hold a grudge and immediately came closer to whisper in his ear.

"Boss, if they really do get the information, does that mean they have connections? If they get out of jail, will we be in trouble?"

After hearing this, Zhang Jian's expression became noticeably more anxious.

He wasn't afraid that the Zhu family would be rescued and then cause him trouble; he was afraid that the Zhu family would actually be rescued.

Because someone had promised him that if his entire family got out of Kyoto, his uncle would be promoted to committee director, and the vacant deputy director position would be his.

The man didn't say what would happen if things didn't go well, but Zhang Jian knew he wouldn't allow himself to fail. If he failed, his uncle and he would probably be finished.

He didn't know what deep-seated hatred the other person had for the Zhu family, only that when the person mentioned the Zhu family, their eyes were filled with a desire to get rid of them as soon as possible.
