Chapter 10 The Mastermind (2/2)

However, in recent years, there have been rumors that the Zhu family has hidden a considerable amount of wealth. He guessed that it might be related to this, but he was not sure.

Thinking about this, Zhang Jian felt like he had a splitting headache.

If someone were to actually step in to protect the Zhu family, let alone get promoted and make a fortune, it's hard to say whether they'd even survive.

After pacing around impatiently a few times, he stomped his foot angrily, gritted his teeth, and called for his men to return to the committee.

Upon seeing this, Zhu Qinghao quickly followed from another direction.

Fearing that someone would see her and arrest her as well, she used the space to take a quiet path with few people, getting ahead of Zhang Jian and the others to the outside of the committee's compound.

Upon arrival, she briefly slipped out and then slipped back in, allowing her to move freely within the committee's compound.

Zhang Jian didn't keep her waiting long. Soon he appeared in her sight with his soldiers, and Zhu Qinghao followed him inside.

Zhang Jian strode quickly toward the committee director's office, his movements so forceful that the person inside nearly fell off their seat.

"What are you doing, all clumsy and reckless? You scared the hell out of me!"

In the past, Zhang Jian would have already started clowning around by now, but at this moment he looked at the fat man sitting in the seat with a serious expression.

"Uncle, something terrible has happened! The Zhu family's belongings have all been moved, and we haven't found anything."

"What did you say?!"

Upon hearing this news, Jia Ren reacted even more violently than when Zhang Jian entered the room, nearly overturning the desk in front of him.

Realizing he had lost his composure, he quickly composed himself and anxiously asked:

"Nothing found? Didn't that person take Zhao Cheng away a long time ago? Where did the Zhu family get this information? Did one of your people leak the news?"

Zhu Qinghao was right next to her and immediately grasped the key words. Sure enough, there was a mastermind behind it all. But who was "that person"?

She didn't dwell on those who were destined to be unable to come up with answers, and continued to listen attentively, trying to hear more useful information.

Zhang Jian had a long face and an innocent expression.

"Uncle, my men only found out this morning that the target was the Zhu family. How could they let the news leak out beforehand..."

Jia Ren took a deep breath and changed the question:

"So, did you find what you were supposed to find?"

Zhang Jian knew what he was talking about, so he nodded quickly:

"We found them, we found them, but what if someone comes to bail them out? I heard that Grandpa Zhu has a letter written by a former leader..."

Just as Jia Ren was about to relax, he was startled again after hearing that "but".

Looking at his timid and cowering nephew, he was furious.

"What do you mean 'hearsay'? That old man did have it. That person said we should find it and destroy it. Didn't you find it?"

Zhang Jian's previously relieved bitter expression reappeared.

"Uncle, forget about that letter, we couldn't even find any decent valuables, let alone something to save our lives. But I've had the Zhu family sealed off..."

Jia Ren's anxiety finally died. He paced back and forth with his hands behind his back, constantly thinking of a solution.

Zhang Jian waited for a long time but didn't receive any instructions, so he rolled his eyes, stepped forward, and whispered:

"Uncle, how about we report them early and get them demoted before the people behind the Zhu family start to exert their influence? That way, they won't have a chance to be bailed out?"
