Chapter 239 You're not Brother Chun, why should I believe you?

However, Wu Lina suddenly raised her head, looked directly into Lin Chen's eyes, and her eyes flashed with an unusual light.

"You're not worried that the assassins will target me because of your connection, are you? Are you just concerned for me?" Her tone was a mix of probing and determination.

Lin Chen smiled slightly, trying to hide his inner panic. "Sister Lina, I just feel that staying here will only put you in danger. They may already know about this neighborhood, and if we stay together, they will find you soon. I'm confident I can handle it, but you..." Lin Chen said with a hint of helplessness and worry.

However, Wu Lina was not moved by Lin Chen's words. On the contrary, an unprecedented competitive spirit surged in her heart.

“Lin Chen, I think you’re overthinking it. Even if they know about this neighborhood, they can’t just come in easily. The security measures here are set up by a professional security company, and the security personnel are all retired soldiers. You should stay here until you are completely safe.”

Her tone was firm and powerful, as if she were convincing herself, and also convincing Lin Chen.

Lin Chen smiled bitterly to himself. He knew, of course, how tight the security measures were in this neighborhood. But if those assassins could find him once, they could find him a second time. He couldn't take the risk, and he couldn't let Wu Lina take the risk either.

Just then, Lin Chen suddenly changed the subject and asked, "Sister Lina, are the bodyguards you hired from Mamba Security Company?"

Wu Lina paused for a moment, then nodded. "Yes! They're so professional, but how did you know?" she asked, full of surprise and curiosity.

Lin Chen smiled slightly, not answering directly. "Sister Lina, just trust me. Now, we must be careful. Those guys might already be here." He suddenly became serious and tense.

Wu Lina was startled and was about to ask a question when Lin Chen gently covered her mouth with his hand. Her eyes widened instantly, and the touch of the opposite sex on her lips stirred a strange flutter in her heart. She looked at Lin Chen nervously, only to see him place his finger lightly on his lips, making a shushing gesture.

Just then, the doorbell rang. A woman's voice came from outside: "Ms. Wu Lina, we are the security guards here. May we come in?" The voice sounded gentle and professional, yet carried a hint of undeniable authority.

Wu Lina instinctively looked at Lin Chen, her eyes filled with confusion and fear. Lin Chen simply nodded slightly, signaling her to be quiet.

"Miss Wu Lina, Miss Wu Lina?" the people outside called tentatively twice more. Receiving no response, they began trying to unlock the door directly. The faint sound of the lock opening was exceptionally clear in the quiet room.

Wu Lina now completely believed Lin Chen's words. She knew that the security guards in this community would never do such a thing. Then, the people outside… she dared not think any further.

"Go hide in your bedroom. Come out when I call you," Lin Chen commanded softly. His voice was deep, but it was filled with unwavering determination.

Although Wu Lina was filled with worry, she knew that staying here would only be a burden to Lin Chen. So, she nodded and whispered, "Be careful." Then she turned and quickly went into her room.

After Wu Lina left, Lin Chen closed his eyes slightly and took a deep breath. He activated his perception ability for a moment, and a slight throbbing pain immediately shot through his head. He endured the discomfort and quickly analyzed the situation outside. According to his estimation, he could only hold out for about a minute. And at this moment, there were three people outside…

Five seconds later, the door slowly opened. Three men dressed in community security uniforms walked in, but they were carrying pistols with silencers. They looked around warily and approached the house step by step.

However, when they glanced around the living room, they didn't see anyone...

Inside the dimly lit and quiet villa, a standoff between Lin Chen and three top assassins unfolded, the air thick with a suffocating tension.

After exchanging a glance, the assassin and his partner decided to search carefully, leaving no possible hiding place unchecked, or looking for any subtle clues that could reveal the truth.

At that moment, a young assassin who appeared to be in his late twenties, with a cold and stern face, walked steadily into the living room, holding a dark pistol. Every step he took was cautious, as if he were ready to deal with any unexpected situation at any moment.

However, just as he crossed the invisible warning line in the living room, a figure suddenly appeared behind him like a ghost!

The young assassin reacted with lightning speed. Almost instinctively, he whirled around, aiming his gun at the blurry figure. But just then, a strange force made his arm go numb. He could only catch a fleeting glimpse of a figure before his jaw was struck by a punch as heavy as a mountain!

In an instant, his brain seemed to be struck by a tremendous force, and all his thoughts went blank for a brief moment.

All of this happened far too quickly, in the blink of an eye. However, this brief exchange was enough to attract the attention of the other two assassins who were searching for Lin Chen. They quickly turned their guns and opened fire in Lin Chen's direction.

Lin Chen nimbly rolled on the ground, using the sofa as cover to leap high into the air and dodge the deadly attack.

"Is this guy really that good?" One of the assassins glanced at his fallen comrade and couldn't help but curse. At this moment, their expressions became more tense and solemn than ever before, their eyes flashing with vigilance and unease.

Just then, a figure-like object suddenly appeared beside the sofa, and gunshots rang out again. The two assassins pulled the triggers almost simultaneously, but by the time they realized it was just a coat, it was too late.

Lin Chen's gunshot rang out suddenly, like a death sentence.

In the previous exchange with the young assassin, Lin Chen had skillfully disarmed him. Now, he fired two shots in quick succession, accurately striking the wrists of both assassins, causing their weapons to fall limply to the ground.

The two assassins could only clutch their wrists in agony, their eyes filled with terror and disbelief.

All three of them were extremely powerful experts, yet Lin Chen easily dispatched them in less than a minute. This made them wonder just what kind of being they were about to face.

However, now that things have come to this, they will not give up easily.

"Retreat!" The two assassins exchanged a glance, the same thought forming in their minds simultaneously. Without hesitation, they ran in different directions, deliberately swaying their bodies in an attempt to distract Lin Chen's aim. However, after two faint gunshots, they both fell to the ground, blood gushing from their knees.

"Speak, who sent you?" Lin Chen asked coldly. Although the assassin didn't answer immediately, the answer had already formed in Lin Chen's mind. A faint smile appeared on his face, a smile that, in the eyes of the two assassins, was as chilling as the smile of a devil.

“Hey young man, we’re just security personnel here. We knocked on the door and you didn’t answer, so we thought something had happened inside, which is why we came in with guns. You’ve got the wrong idea,” one of the assassins tried to explain.

"Do you think I would believe such nonsense?" Lin Chen smiled at the assassin who was trying to explain, his eyes full of amusement.

"We're telling the truth! You have to believe us! Believe us!" the assassin shouted excitedly, his voice tinged with despair.

"You're not Brother Chun, why should I believe you? Since you say you're the security guards here, I'm curious, which security company do you belong to?" Lin Chen pressed on.

"This..." The assassin looked at Lin Chen, and finally could only lower his head helplessly. Because Black Mamba Company's security personnel were very protective of their privacy, their uniforms didn't have the company name printed on them. So how did this assassin know?
