Chapter 238 Even a Five-Star Assassin Knelt Down!

"Lin Chen, trust me, I'll definitely give you a feast..."

"Enjoy a feast? Now I know why nobody comes here! They're all scared away by the smell!"

"Lin Chen, say that again!"

Before Wu Lina could finish speaking, Lin Chen suddenly grabbed her hand, and the two embraced tightly, rolling around on the ground several times before finally hiding in a corner where they could conceal themselves.

The once peaceful street was now in complete chaos. Screams, screams, and a cacophony of noises mingled together, as if the whole world had fallen into turmoil.

"Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing? Even if you don't want to eat, you don't have to do this, do you?" Wu Lina looked at Lin Chen with a face full of dissatisfaction. She obviously didn't understand what had happened.

Lin Chen, however, kept his eyes fixed on the outside, his expression calm and serious. He sensed danger; although he hadn't used his perception skill, his instinctive alertness told him that things were not simple.

"Lin Chen, what exactly happened? Are you still going to eat durian and pig intestine hot pot?" Wu Lina's voice was tinged with doubt and dissatisfaction.

"Well... you can keep it for yourself! Sister Lina, I think I'm the one who dragged you into this." Lin Chen gave a wry smile, secretly glad that he had discovered the danger in time.

Sure enough, there were obvious gunshot marks where they had been standing, and the people around them noticed the abnormality and fled in panic.

"Shooting?! Someone fired a shot?!" Wu Lina stared wide-eyed in horror, unable to believe that a shooting could have happened in this backward county town of Hongkou.

"They're after me." Lin Chen's gaze pierced through the void, as if it could penetrate all obstacles and see the gunman hidden in the shadows.

"Someone... chased you here, and with a gun?! Lin Chen, who exactly are you? A terrorist?" Wu Lina instinctively distanced herself from Lin Chen, her eyes filled with fear and confusion.

Lin Chen gave a wry smile and didn't answer Wu Lina's question. He pulled her towards a more crowded area, since he was alone and unarmed, making a counterattack difficult.

“If you’re a bad person, I advise you to turn yourself in.” Wu Lina’s voice trembled slightly; she was clearly quite frightened by this sudden turn of events.

"Please, ma'am, if I were a bad guy, would I save you? Have you ever seen a bad guy get assassinated?" Lin Chen rolled his eyes helplessly, thinking to himself, "This level of intelligence... is really worrying!"

However, although Wu Lina wasn't very intelligent, she was very familiar with Hongkou County. At Lin Chen's direction, she led him through a maze of narrow alleys until they finally arrived at a relatively safe place.

Meanwhile, in a hotel in Hongkou County, a man holding a black sniper rifle frowned deeply. The sniper rifle in his hand had been quickly dismantled, but the frustration on his face was impossible to hide.

"I missed? What happened?" He cursed incessantly, clearly extremely dissatisfied with the failed sniping attempt. He had always been a one-shot kill in his previous missions, never missing a shot. Yet, in this small county town, he had actually missed while trying to snipe a young man enjoying himself with a voluptuous young woman! How could he possibly accept this?

Especially when Lin Chen's gaze inadvertently swept over him, a sudden, inexplicable sense of crisis welled up within him. That dangerous aura was like a ferocious beast lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce at any moment. His intuition told him that this young man was no good, and might even pose a threat to his life.

However, he now had to deal with another problem. Downstairs, the fat guy was enjoying a local specialty—durian intestine hot pot! The pungent stench wafted out through the open window, barely concealing the odor, even with a mask on.

He had to hold his breath and try to reduce the frequency of his breathing to prevent the nauseating smell from entering his nasal cavity.

What troubled him even more was Wu Lina, who was standing next to his target Lin Chen. Her voluptuous figure, especially her eye-catching large buttocks, kept unconsciously drawing his attention. These combined factors led to his eventual failure, even though he was a five-star assassin.

"Looks like we'll need two more people for next operation." The man covered his nose, grabbed his bag, and hurriedly left the hotel. He was secretly relieved; although this attempt hadn't succeeded, at least he had discovered Lin Chen as a potential threat. Moreover, he already had a countermeasure. "Next time, I definitely need to wear a gas mask. I can't let this durian intestine hot pot affect my performance again!"

Meanwhile, Lin Chen never expected that the durian sausage he had always disliked would indirectly save his life. He and Wu Lina had now arrived at an upscale residential area. The environment of this community was completely different from ordinary communities outside; the access was strictly controlled, and the security personnel were all highly skilled, clearly indicating that it was not an area that ordinary people could easily enter.

"This is my home, it's very safe." Wu Lina smiled mysteriously and led Lin Chen into one of the buildings. Lin Chen looked around and nodded to himself; this was indeed a good place to hide.

The house was spacious and bright, luxuriously yet tastefully decorated. Wu Lina's nanny was already busy in the kitchen preparing dinner for them. When the nanny brought out the familiar durian and pork intestine hot pot, Lin Chen shook his head helplessly. He never expected that he would encounter this "nightmare" dish again in this place.

At the dinner table, Wu Lina was enjoying the delicious durian and pork intestine hot pot with gusto, while Lin Chen could only sit there wearing two masks, enduring the nauseating smell. He wanted to rush to the bathroom several times, but ultimately held back. However, his stomach couldn't take the torment any longer; he ate very little dinner and vomited quite a bit.

The next morning, when Wu Lina stepped out of her room, she was surprised to find breakfast already laid out on the table. Looking at Lin Chen busily working in the kitchen, a wave of emotion washed over her.

"Lin Chen, good morning! I never expected you could make breakfast!" Wu Lina said with a smile.

"Big sister, I appreciate your hospitality last night. However, I really can't handle that durian and pork intestine hot pot. Today, let me let you taste what real humans should eat," Lin Chen replied with a smile. He cooked porridge and stir-fried a few side dishes. Although simple, they were enough to fill his stomach and prevent him from vomiting again.

Wu Lina took a bite of Lin Chen's dish and her eyes widened instantly. "What is this?! It has no flavor at all! It's like eating air," she exclaimed.

"Yeah, compared to your durian and pork intestine hot pot, even the toilet smells better," Lin Chen joked.

"What do you mean? Let me tell you, you can insult me, but no one can insult our durian intestine hot pot!" Wu Lina said, feigning anger.

"I'm truly impressed by you guys." Lin Chen shook his head helplessly.

Just then, Wu Lina suddenly stared at Lin Chen, a hint of doubt in her eyes. "Lin Chen, why do I feel like I've seen you somewhere before?" she said after a moment of thought.

"Did you eat too much durian sausage and your eyesight got blurry?" Lin Chen joked.

“No, I feel like I’ve seen you in short videos before… Do you also make videos for Douyin?” Wu Lina’s words made Lin Chen’s heart suddenly tighten. He didn’t expect to be recognized at this time. However, he remained calm on the surface and shook his head with a smile: “No, I don’t do those things.”

"Sister Lina, I've had a really happy time with you. Please enjoy this porridge slowly, but I think it's time for me to leave now," Lin Chen said as he ate, his tone carrying a hint of reluctance yet filled with determination.

Wu Lina paused slightly in her spoon, a complex emotion flashing in her lowered eyes. "Are you leaving so soon?" Her voice was soft and low, as if carrying a slight, imperceptible tremor.

Lin Chen nodded slightly, a determined look in his eyes. "Yes, Sister Lina. I have very important things to do and can't stay here any longer." He was secretly anxious, afraid that Wu Lina might suddenly remember something and recognize his true identity. After all, yesterday's attack had left him with lingering fears, and he absolutely couldn't let Wu Lina be dragged into this danger as well.
