Chapter 3 Argument

Chapter 3 Argument

The message just came from Lu Chong.

When I opened it, I found that Lu Chong had more than one message, the earliest of which was at 10 o'clock.

At ten o'clock, Mu Yan had already drunk the tea that his adoptive father had given him with a sleeping potion.

The first message Lu Chong sent was: "It seems like my susceptible period is coming early. Go home tonight, don't stay there."

The previous message was from Mu Yan, who said he might be sleeping there tonight and wouldn't be coming back. He made him a meal and put it in the refrigerator. It wasn't leftovers, and he told Lu Chong to heat it up in the microwave when he came back tonight.

At midnight, there was a missed voice call.

The last message he just sent read: "I'm at the company now. You don't need to call back if you see this."

Lu Chong must be angry. He's not the type to show his emotions easily; when they argue, he usually just stays silent and gives him the silent treatment.

Lu Chong was very violent in sex during his sensitive period. Mu Yan was a male beta, and his reproductive cavity was somewhat degenerated. In addition, he did not have pheromones to soothe the alpha, so he often found it difficult to endure.

He would advise Lu Chong to take inhibitors a few days before and after the susceptible period, but Lu Chong always felt that he couldn't understand the difficulties of being an alpha.

He probably thinks the same way this time.

His lover's cold message shattered his desire for comfort. Before Mu Yan had even left the hotel, his left hand, which was holding the phone, suddenly felt weak, as if he couldn't even hold the phone anymore.

"Sir, are you alright? Would you like us to call a taxi for you?" A waiter nearby noticed that he was walking unsteadily and looked unwell, so he quickly stepped forward to support him.

The young beta was pale, his legs didn't tremble, but his posture was somewhat strange.

People in this line of work have very sharp eyes; the beta youth in front of me looks like he's been thoroughly swindled.

However, as a plaything of the powerful and wealthy, his appearance was rather ordinary. Not that he was unattractive, but he wasn't alluring enough; he looked like a recent college graduate, especially since he was a beta.

I don't know how she managed to hook up with that sugar daddy upstairs.

"It's a free service," the waiter added with a polite smile.

Mu Yan had never been to a hotel of this caliber before, so he was naturally unaware that such services existed. He was slightly stunned; having just experienced something like that, he was naturally wary of people.

"It's okay, no need, I can walk to the subway station myself."

The waiter, seeing the wary look in his eyes, was actually a little amused, but maintained a polite smile: "Yes, sir, walk 500 meters this way and turn left at the first intersection."

Mu Yan picked up his phone and checked the map. His legs felt weak, and he couldn't walk that far at all. He calculated the cost and finally gritted his teeth and took a taxi to the company.

It's 8:10 in the morning now. If you go now, you won't be late.

"Sir, you look terrible. Are you carsick? Would you like me to stop at the next intersection and you can sit in the front?" The taxi driver asked cautiously. Mu Yan had gotten into the car at one of the best hotels in the city. He had picked up many drunk passengers from there, and there was nothing he could do if a passenger vomited in the car.

Mu Yan shook her head: "Thank you, I'm fine."

He felt incredibly choked up and just wanted to find a secluded place to be alone for a while.

Looking in the rearview mirror, the driver saw the beta youth with his head down, his expression hidden, but his shoulders twitched slightly, almost imperceptibly.

She must have cried.

The driver didn't dare to disturb them any further and just drove calmly all the way. It was rush hour and the roads were a bit congested, so he didn't dare to honk the horn as usual.

"It's so congested," the beta youth said.

His voice had a very obvious sobbing tone, and the driver, afraid of making eye contact and feeling awkward, dared not look up at the rearview mirror.

"This road is very congested," the driver said cautiously. "Could I speed up after this section to try and make sure you're not late? Is it nine o'clock?"

"thank you."

Being late isn't a big deal; being late once a month won't affect his perfect attendance bonus, especially since the month is almost over.

However, Mu Yan's emotions suddenly broke down. Even though she didn't want to cry and clench her teeth, sobs would still inadvertently escape from her teeth.

The driver didn't dare say much. After passing the congested section, he sped off and dropped Mu Yan off at the company building. Luckily, he wasn't late.

During his lunch break, he hid in the tea room and secretly called Lu Chong.

Lu Chong is actually quite childish. He said there was no need to call back. If you call back immediately, he will get angry and yell at you for not understanding human language. But if you don't call back, he will get even angrier.

Mu Yan didn't think it mattered. He knew that Lu Chong's family was well-off and he must have been pampered and protected by his family. Although he was the same age as Lu Chong, he was more mature than him, so it was only right for him to give in to him a little.

He liked Lu Chong, and he knew that Lu Chong's childish behavior was also because he liked him. There was no need for lovers to be so calculating.

But right now, Mu Yan didn't have the energy to comfort him. He was in a bad mood, and in this situation, the person who needed comforting more was himself.

Lu Chong didn't have the habit of taking a midday nap; his daily routine was extremely regular, like a robot. If Lu Chong didn't answer his call after three rings, he wouldn't call again.

After one ring, the phone was answered.

Lu Chong remained silent, presumably waiting for him to apologize.

Mu Yan liked Lu Chong, but she really disliked his behavior. He acted like a superior judge, waiting for Mu Yan to reveal all his mistakes.

It's like being inexplicably called to the teacher's office during your school days. The teacher doesn't say anything, just stares at you, making you feel like you can't lift your head under pressure, even if you haven't done anything wrong.

"Why are you calling me if you're not going to talk?" Lu Chong's voice was calm, without any hint of accusation, but it sent a chill down one's spine.

"Can you pick me up from get off work today?" After a morning of work, Mu Yan's voice was otherwise normal, except for being a little hoarse. "...How about I tell you in person?"

Lu Chong remained silent for a long time, but his soft breathing still reached Mu Yan.

He knew what Lu Chong was thinking; he wanted to hear him back down and say nice things.

"You didn't come home all night and didn't reply to my messages. Are you still upset?" Lu Chong said calmly. "Have you thought of how to explain this? I don't have time to wait for you."

With grievances stuck in his chest, Mu Yan couldn't say a word for a moment.

Is it because his biological father drugged him and sent him to someone else's bed? Is it because the other party is a rich and powerful alpha who would rather make things difficult for a beta than accept so many omegas?

Mu Yan held her phone, her nose tingling with emotion.

He was really tired and upset, and he didn't have any extra energy left to give to Lu Chong.

He hung up the phone, spent the day in a daze, and dragged his already aching and exhausted body home.

At this hour, it's almost impossible to get a seat on the subway. Mu Yan hesitated for a moment, calculated the cost of a taxi, and finally decided to take the subway.

On the way home, we passed a shopping mall at one stop. Inside was a Basque dessert shop that Lu Chong really liked. If we didn't take a taxi, the money left over would be enough to buy him a pistachio-flavored one.

It wasn't Lu Chong's fault that he encountered such a situation.

He was under constant mental tension for so long that he almost fell asleep standing up on the subway.

When he got home and opened the door, the lights were off, and Lu Chong was not home.

Lu Chong was busy with his startup. There was a sofa in his studio, where he had slept once before when he was too busy with work. But today, Mu Yan knew it wasn't because he was busy with work.

Mu Yan hadn't eaten yet, so he took out tomatoes and eggs from the refrigerator, intending to make himself a bowl of noodles.

He could prepare three dishes for Lu Chong in advance so that he could eat alone, but when it came to himself, he couldn't muster the energy to cook for himself.

While washing the tomatoes, he noticed three unwashed plates stacked in the sink.

There were no chopsticks, no bowls, only three unwashed plates.

Lu Chong naturally wouldn't wash the chopsticks after finishing his meal; he would leave the remaining three plates for Mu Yan to wash when he returned.

He threw away all the dishes Mu Yan had prepared without eating a single bite.

Mu Yan's first reaction was to explain to Lu Chong that it wasn't leftovers, but something he had specially cooked for Lu Chong that morning. He hadn't forgotten that Lu Chong didn't eat leftovers.

He continued to make crosses on the tomatoes somewhat blankly. His brother had taught him that to make tomato and egg noodles, you have to make crosses on the tomato skin and scald it with boiling water to get the tomato flavor.

Boiling water splashed onto his hand, and the scalded area quickly turned red and hurt. But Mu Yan seemed a little dazed; he only remembered to apply the ointment after cooking the noodles.

He remembered that Lu Chong didn't eat leftovers.

Lu Chong's family must have been well-off in the past. However, apart from not eating leftovers, he had almost no spoiled attitude during his university years.

When they first got together, they had both graduated not long ago. Mu Yan was honest and didn't know the ins and outs of renting a place. When she rented the place, she only knew that there was air conditioning, but when she moved in, she found that the air conditioning was broken.

They had hired someone to fix it, but the cost of repairing the air conditioner was almost equivalent to a month's rent. Mu Yan swallowed this bitter pill and decided to make do for the next month and then move to another place next month.

He was fine; he was just worried that Lu Chong wouldn't be able to handle it. But Lu Chong just shook his head and said he was alright.

Lu Chong was truly not picky; on the contrary, Mu Yan suffered from heatstroke in the rented room first. Lu Chong gave him medicine, cooked mung bean soup to relieve the heat, and fed it to him. The next day, he carried several large blocks of ice home and placed them in front of the fan so that the fan would blow on them, saying that this would make it less hot.

Mu Yan genuinely felt that Lu Chong had suffered a lot with him. He should have been well taken care of by his family before, but now he had to live a miserable life with him where they couldn't even afford air conditioning.

Mu Yan and Lu Chong met in college. At that time, Lu Chong was a young master from a wealthy family, and he was also very handsome. Before they officially met, Mu Yan had heard of such a person in the law school.

He comes from a wealthy family, is the top liberal arts student in S City, is handsome enough to be a star, and is also very virtuous. Since he entered university, countless omegas have pursued him, but he has always gently and gracefully rejected them from the very beginning.

Such a person should have no connection with Mu Yan at all.

They truly got to know each other because of a modeling competition during their junior year of college.

Mu Yan has participated in many such competitions. Modeling competitions are related to his major, something he excels at, and the prize money is substantial, making money faster than any part-time job, so he almost never misses one.

One of his teammates was a senior from the same major with whom he had collaborated many times. Both of them were confident in each other's abilities. Mu Yan was busy with part-time jobs and studies and rarely socialized. The task of finding a third teammate usually fell to senior Jiang Yizhuo.

Jiang Yizhuo had already set up a group chat for the three of them, saying that it would be too awkward to introduce themselves online, so he would introduce them on the day of the competition, and they would get to know each other after staying up all night together for a few days.

On the day of the competition, Mu Yan arrived at the school gate early to wait for Jiang Yizhuo and another teammate. The two came together, and when Jiang Yizhuo saw Mu Yan, he waved to him from afar, then pulled Lu Chong along and walked a few steps to Mu Yan to introduce them.

There's really no need to introduce him. Lu Chong is so famous that almost the entire school knows him. Even a dullard like Mu Yan, who is oblivious to everything else, has heard of him.

Lu Chong was wearing a khaki trench coat, which was very fitted and made his figure look tall and handsome. His face was even more handsome than rumored, but his temperament was not as aloof and unapproachable as rumored.

When Mu Yan looked at him, he even smiled gently.

It wasn't a polite smile, but a smile that, even with a mask on, revealed genuine joy in the eyes.

"I heard from Yi-zhuo that you guys are short of paper writers. My English is pretty good, so Yi-zhuo agreed to let me join the team. I've also taught myself some modeling and coding before, I don't know if I can be of any help to you guys."

"Yi Zhuo," a very intimate term of address. Mu Yan thought subconsciously.

At that time, he didn't actually realize why he was unhappy because of the nickname "Yi Zhuo".

He thought it might just be because Lu Chong and Jiang Yizhuo seemed to have a good relationship, and apart from playing a few games with Jiang Yizhuo, he wasn't actually that familiar with him.
