Chapter 120 A Close Call

Chapter 120 A Close Call

Su Wenliang seemed to have recognized the newcomer as well. He looked at Ye Wanning with a bewildered expression, "Sister-in-law, what... what's going on..."

"I don't know either." Ye Wanning turned her head and saw the group of people getting closer and closer to them. Ye Wanning bit her lip, turned her head and found the sword that Su Wenliang had thrown aside in the box. She had a flash of inspiration and quickly picked up the sword and handed it to Su Wenliang, "Take it!"

Taking the sword, Su Wenliang was stunned, looking at Ye Wanning with some bewilderment, "Sister-in-law... what are you doing...?"

"Pull it out! Hold it against my neck!" Ye Wanning turned her head to look behind her, then immediately turned back to look at Su Wenliang. Seeing that he still didn't react, Ye Wanning looked anxious and urged, "Hurry up!"

Su Wenliang was taken aback, but immediately understood Ye Wanning's meaning. He quickly stood up from the box, drew his sword, and held it to Ye Wanning's neck.

"Su Wenliang! Put down your sword!" Seeing this, Su Wenyan quickly sped up and rushed towards Ye Wanning and the others. "Whoa!"

Su Wenliang leaned close to Ye Wanning's ear and whispered, "Excuse me!" As soon as he finished speaking, he tied Ye Wanning's hands behind her back. He looked up and glared fiercely at Su Wenyan, "Don't come any closer!"

"Third Brother! No!" Seeing Su Wenliang's sword getting even closer to Ye Wanning, Su Wenyan quickly reached out to stop him, saying, "Don't hurt my sister-in-law!"

"Heh." Su Wenliang chuckled twice, then looked at Su Wenyan, "You still remember I'm your third brother!"

"Third Brother!" Seeing that Su Wenliang was not in good condition, Su Wenyan composed himself, dismounted, looked at Su Wenliang, and said softly, "Release the Empress Dowager, and I will explain this matter to Second Brother."

"Do you think I'm a fool?" Su Wenliang sneered twice, looked at Su Wenyan, and said in an unfriendly tone, "Now that you're all looking for me, why should I walk into your trap!"

"Third Brother!" Su Wenyan frowned, looked at Su Wenliang, and after a while, he spoke up again to persuade him, "Third Brother, I believe you, you definitely didn't do this..."

"You believe me, but others don't!" Su Wenliang said, seemingly enraged, his grip on the sword tightening.

Seeing this, Su Wenyan shouted, "Third Brother, you mustn't!" Seeing that Su Wenliang's movements seemed to have slowed down, Su Wenyan composed himself, looked at him and said softly, "Third Brother, release the Empress Dowager, I'll agree to anything you ask if you release her."

"Tell him to step back, and then you take me away." Hearing that Su Wenyan had relented, Ye Wanning quickly whispered in Su Wenliang's ear.

Hearing Ye Wanning say this, Su Wenliang nodded. He looked up at Su Wenyan and said, "Wenyan, I just want to leave. Let me go."

“This…” Su Wenyan seemed a little troubled when he heard Su Wenliang make this request. If his second brother found out… He frowned, then looked at Ye Wanning, as if he had made up his mind. “Third brother, okay, I’ll let you go, but you have to release your sister-in-law first.”

“No!” Su Wenliang frowned and shook his head firmly. “How do I know you won’t go back on your word after I release her?”

“I…” Su Wenyan bit his lip. He looked at the guards behind him. “Put the sword down!” With that, he turned around, placed the sword in his hand a short distance away, and looked up at Su Wenliang. “Is this alright?”

"Give me two horses," Su Wenliang said, frowning as he looked at Su Wenyan.

"Alright." Su Wenyan nodded and quickly told the guards behind him to bring over two horses.

“Turn around and squat down.” Su Wenliang frowned, paused for a moment, and then said, “Once I’m out of your control, I’ll call you and release her.” As he spoke, Su Wenliang seemed to tighten his grip on the sword in his hand.

"Okay!" Seeing this, Su Wenyan quickly agreed. He frowned and looked at Su Wenliang, "Third brother, don't hold on too tightly, be careful of the sword in your hand!" As he spoke, he turned his head and slowly squatted down.

Seeing Su Wenyan turn his head away, Qiao Ke quickly stepped forward and led the two horses to Su Wenliang's side.

Su Wenliang turned and nodded to Qiao Ke. He put his arm around Ye Wanning, and the three of them retreated to a short distance away. He immediately released Ye Wanning and whispered in her ear, "Sister-in-law, thank you."

"You're welcome." Ye Wanning slapped him away, frowned, and looked at Su Wenliang, who had already mounted his horse. "Don't forget our agreement."

"Of course." Su Wenliang, seated on his horse, gave Ye Wanning a flirtatious wink. He raised his riding whip, his expression immediately turning serious. "Giddy up!"

Hearing the sound of horses' hooves from not far away, Su Wenyan immediately stood up and turned around, only to see that Su Wenliang and Qiao Ke had already ridden away, while Ye Wanning was standing in front of him, looking bewildered. "Sister-in-law!" Upon seeing this, Su Wenyan immediately ran up to her, "Are you alright!"

"It's nothing." Ye Wanning came to her senses and looked at Su Wenyan, seemingly still shaken. She glanced at the guards still behind her and asked, "Why are you here?"

“When I went to patrol the city gate just now, I heard the soldiers there say that you were leaving the city today.” As he spoke, Su Wenyan frowned. “The situation in the country has not been good these past few days. I was worried that something might happen to you on the way, so I came to check on you.”

"Thank goodness you were here." Ye Wanning breathed a sigh of relief, patting her chest as if to help herself catch her breath. "If you hadn't come, who knows what would have happened today." As she spoke, Ye Wanning looked in the direction Su Wenliang had left, looking as if she still had lingering fears. "I'm afraid that madman would have been yelling about taking me away again."

Hearing Ye Wanning say that, Su Wenyan couldn't help but laugh. He looked at Ye Wanning, paused for a moment, and asked with some curiosity, "Speaking of which, how did you, my sister-in-law, end up meeting him..."

"How should I know?" Ye Wanning pouted, looking unhappy. "I must have been out of my mind to have this happen. I only came out to deliver goods today, how did this happen?"

As the two were talking, Su Wenyan looked around and noticed that the coachman seemed a little strange. He frowned, walked up to the coachman, and asked in a low voice, "What's wrong with you?"

Seeing Su Wenyan suddenly point his gun at him, the coachman looked terrified and stammered, "Fuck...fuck...this humble commoner..."

"He was coerced by the Third Prince before he even left the cloth shop. He must be terrified." Seeing the situation was turning bad, Granny Sun quickly explained, looking at Su Wenyan, "This coachman is just a country bumpkin, Fourth Prince... Fourth Prince, please don't take it to heart..."

"Is that so?" Su Wenyan looked at the coachman and then at Granny Sun, his face full of suspicion. He felt that something was not right.

Seeing that Su Wenyan had become suspicious, Ye Wanning quickly stepped forward and patted Su Wenyan's shoulder with praise, "Wenyan, you did well today. When we get back, I will mention you to your brother and ask him to praise you properly."

"You're too kind, Your Majesty." Seeing Ye Wanning suddenly say this, Su Wenyan quickly declined, saying, "It's just what I should do." As he spoke, he looked around, as if searching for something.

Seeing Su Wenyan slowly furrow his brows, Ye Wanning was taken aback and looked at him, asking, "Wenyan, what are you looking for?"

"Sister-in-law..." Su Wenyan bit her lip, seemingly thinking for a long time before speaking, "Didn't Cui'er come with us today...?"

“Cui’er’s foot injury hasn’t fully healed yet.” Ye Wanning smiled, then realized something and looked at Su Wenyan with a questioning expression, “You…”

Seeing that Ye Wanning had noticed something amiss, Su Wenyan blushed and quickly changed the subject, saying, "Sister-in-law, let me take you back to your residence first!"

"Huh?" Go back to the manor? Hearing Su Wenyan say this, Ye Wanning was taken aback and subconsciously waved her hand, "No need, I still have to deliver goods!"

"After what happened today, are you still going?" Su Wenyan frowned, looking at Ye Wanning with a puzzled expression. "What if my brother asks..."

"Why don't you just not tell him about this?" Ye Wanning frowned, turned around and got into the carriage. What a joke! Ask her to go back? She hadn't even figured out how to face Su Wenzhen yet! If she went back now, he would definitely discover her weakness. She wasn't that stupid to court death!

“But…” Hearing Ye Wanning say this, Su Wenyan frowned with some difficulty, “Just now… I already sent someone to report to my second brother…”

Ye Wanning froze, turned to look at Su Wenyan with an incredulous expression, her eyes wide, "When?"
