Chapter 12 Gin, he's like a ghost, seemingly always around him...

The bomb is a homemade, civilian-made bomb, and its kill radius is estimated to be within 30 meters.

Simple and of poor quality.

Matsuda Jinpei could dismantle eight of these bombs in half an hour.

He stood there smiling, not letting anyone touch the bomb on the table, and signaled to the principal and teachers to evacuate the students. The entire playground was instantly cleared out.

Perhaps because it was the first time conducting an evacuation drill, the evacuation took a long time, and the students were reluctant to retreat. Rather than retreating to a safe distance, they wanted to observe the bomb disposal up close.

Matsuda Jinpei had no choice but to bring over a mobile phone and connect it to the school's large screen to broadcast the bomb disposal live, which finally got the students to leave.

There are less than ten minutes left.

Chinatsu Takanashi followed the crowd, glancing at Matsuda Jinpei every now and then. Matsuda Jinpei seemed not to notice her, focusing more on the bombs on the table, only occasionally looking up at the students.

His expression was confident and composed, showing no sense of crisis, as if he were really just performing a bomb disposal demonstration in front of everyone.

But that's not right!

Chinatsu Takanashi was certain that it was a real bomb, and it was already being activated.

Bombs pose no real danger to someone like Takanashi Chinatsu, unless someone shoves a bomb that's about to explode into her hand. Otherwise, whenever she discovers a bomb, she can simply run away.

She didn't care about money, or what buildings were blown up; saving her own life was simple.

But now, like everyone who has experienced a bomb attack, Takanashi Chinatsu is on tenterhooks, watching Matsuda Jinpei from afar, watching him smile, watching him observe the bomb, watching him put on a serious face again, and finally picking up his tools to defuse the bomb.

The bomb's structure was no longer visible, so Takanashi Chinatsu had to look at the large screen, which was showing Matsuda Jinpei's hand gestures and an enlarged view of the bomb's structure.

Which wire is it?

Which one?

Takanashi Chinatsu didn't know that she could only recognize that it wasn't a model because she had been in the organization for a long time and had seen too many things, but she knew nothing about defusing bombs.

Damn it, who on earth had the heart to plant a bomb in the school?

She was right next to a dead bomb disposal cop, so why couldn't she have learned how to defuse bombs beforehand? Takanashi Chinatsu couldn't help but feel annoyed.

Matsuda Jinpei has already cut one of the wires.

Wow, so fast! How can it be so fast?

Don't be so hasty. Think about it a little more and check it thoroughly!

This was unlike any bomb disposal movie that Takanashi Chika had ever seen. There was no hesitation, no final three-second countdown. Matsuda Jinpei acted decisively and without hesitation.

Takanashi Chinatsu held her breath the whole time, almost choking on her own breath from Matsuda Jinpei's decisive action.

Then came the second line, and again, without hesitation.

*Crack*, it cuts again.

Why was it cut again? This is completely different from the movie.

Shouldn't there only be three lines: red, yellow, and blue? And if you cut one of them, you can call it a day and cheer loudly?

Chinatsu Takanashi stood frozen in place, her hands and feet beginning to feel cold.

She has realized that movies are movies, completely different from cold and cruel reality.

Matsuda Jinpei continued working efficiently, finally giving the camera an "OK" sign, which instantly drew cheers from the crowd.

Chika Takanashi broke out in a cold sweat and staggered weakly before being steadied by Touya and Yukito, one on each side.

"Chika," Yukito called out to her worriedly.

"I knew something was off about you." Touya stared sharply at the screen, lowering his voice to ask, "Could the bomb be real?"

"H-How could that be? It was just my first time seeing someone defuse a bomb, I was so nervous." Takanashi Chinatsu didn't admit it. Touya and Yukito were just ordinary people after all, and she couldn't explain to them why she knew about bombs. Moreover, Matsuda Jinpei hadn't revealed this, which meant he didn't want to cause panic or leave a shadow in the students' minds.

After Matsuda Jinpei finished defusing the bomb, he gave a hasty concluding remark and quickly disappeared from the stage, presumably to investigate the bomber who replaced the model.

All students returned to the classroom for roll call.

Suddenly, Takanashi Chika spotted a familiar figure.

A black coat, platinum blonde hair.

"Answer for me," Takanashi Chinatsu whispered to Touya before preparing to flee.

"Hey!" Touya grabbed her and warned her, "Where are you going? Something's obviously wrong, don't wander off."

"Please." Takanashi Chinatsu pushed Touya's hand away, just like many times before when she was worried about Touya, but Touya would forcefully push her hand away.

Chizuru Takanashi turned and walked through the crowd.

Touya stood there, opened his mouth, but then closed it again, helplessly slamming his right fist into his left hand.

It's him!

Gin!

It must be him!

Chika Takanashi weaved through the crowd, following the direction Gin had left in, and found him in the medical laboratory at the end of the corridor.

Without hesitation, Takanashi Chika kicked out and slammed her foot into Gin's chest.

Gin was prepared and grabbed her ankle, making a move to lift her up.

Ignoring the fact that she was about to fall, Takanashi Chika used Gin's momentum to lift her other leg and kick Gin's shoulder hard.

Gin staggered backward, but his hand firmly gripped Chizuru Kotori's ankle, even lifting her high up.

"Ah!" Takanashi Chika let out a soft exclamation in a low voice, and the world seemed to turn upside down in an instant.

But her head didn't hit the ground; instead, it was supported by Gin's shoes.

The cold, matte shoe surface quietly supported her head, even gently lifting it.

"Stop fooling around."

"Did you switch them?" Takanashi Chika clung tightly to Gin's leg, head down and feet up.

Gin's legs, though not thick, were muscular, firm, and powerful.

He stood firmly, then leaned forward helplessly and slowly released his grip.

Chinatsuka Takanashi instinctively braced herself with her hands on the ground, swung her legs, flipped backward, and stood up again, but still stared intently at Gin.

"Nothing like this ever happened at school when you weren't here. It only happened when you came, Gin. Are you trying to blow me up?" Takanashi Chinatsu was really angry. The bomb hadn't exploded yet, but if it had, Matsuda Jinpei, who was so close, definitely wouldn't have survived.

"You think I dare to touch you? The master won't allow it." Gin was quite frank, even showing his fear in front of Takanashi Chinatsu.

He subconsciously reached for a cigarette, but then reluctantly put it away under the wide-eyed stare of Chinatsu Kotori.

"I received information that someone is planning to plant a bomb at your school in retaliation against the teachers, so I came to check it out." His tone remained flat, showing no sign that he had even turned down an organizational mission because of this.

Chizuru Takanashi didn't believe that Gin would be so kind.

Gin walked to the window and glanced outside through the smoky gray glass.

Takanashi Chinatsu immediately chased after him: "Gin, you..."

"Look below."

Takanashi Chika subconsciously looked downstairs and saw Matsuda Jinpei grabbing someone's arm and walking outside, the person's hands firmly locked in handcuffs.

It's true! The bomb really had nothing to do with Gin.

Takanashi Chinatsu's expression softened, and her gaze towards Matsuda Jinpei became even gentler. "Matsuda-nii is really amazing. He caught the criminal so quickly. He's even better than the police from the First Investigation Division."

She was feeling proud of Matsuda Jinpei when she heard Gin's chilling greeting from behind her.

"You're so angry, just because of a cop?"

Chizuru Takanashi's heart felt as if it had been plunged into ice water; her hair stood on end, and she looked at Gin with terrified eyes.

A note from the author:

----------------------
