Chapter 22: Fulfilling the last wish of the second-year graduate student! Black Cherry: You…
After Takanashi Chinatsu's questioning, Gin almost immediately covered her mouth, worried that he might hear some outrageous remarks.
"Let's talk about Tongze Eriol. I finished my mission early and came back because of this," Gin quickly changed the subject.
Although Takanashi Chinatsu was unwilling, the safety of the Kinomoto family did affect her emotions, and she did not press Gin for answers after he let go of her hand.
"I suspect that Tongze Elio has his eye on the Kinomoto family."
Gin scoffed, glancing at her dismissively, his tone unfriendly: "Is this why you took Scotland on this adventure? If he harbors ill intentions towards you, you and he will both be finished."
"Then I can't let anything happen to the Kinomoto family!"
Gin rubbed his temples, looking annoyed and with a sour expression.
"The organization hasn't taken action against the Kinomoto family because you're still alive. If you died, the organization would eliminate everyone who knew you in order to erase your information. We won't mention the others you've only talked to a few times, but your relationship with the Kinomoto family is too close; they definitely won't survive."
Chika suddenly glared fiercely at Gin.
Gin wasn't afraid, but his voice softened, carrying a serious tone: "You should understand, I'm not threatening you. If you want to protect the Kinomoto family from the organization, you have to live well. The better you live, the safer they will be."
Takanashi Chika bit her lower lip. Of course, she understood that the organization was capable of such a thing. If only she had Eriol's abilities, she could enter the dreams of every high-ranking member of the organization and erase all memories related to the Kinomoto family.
Unfortunately, she couldn't. She could only continue to compromise with the organization for the safety of the Kinomoto family, just as she had initially compromised with it.
"Don't bite your lip." Gin patted her head.
Takanashi Chinatsu loosened her teeth and asked, "Can you help me? I don't want the rest of the organization to notice the Kinomoto family. Can you find some people unrelated to the organization to protect them? The enemy is a magician. Do you know anyone like that?"
"Um."
Takanashi Chinatsu was overjoyed. Sure enough, Gin was more capable than her, and the people he interacted with were naturally more capable as well.
“I know a magician, but he’s not available to show up right now. I can recommend someone with superpowers though.” As a high-ranking member of the organization, Gin knew more about the matter.
That person said that the Kinomoto family all have great magical talent and high magical power. Once they develop it, ordinary magicians are no match for them.
A magician who dares to target the Kinomoto family must not be underestimated.
Gin sifted through the people he knew in his mind and slowly uttered a name: "Nakahara Chuuya".
Who is that?
"People from the port Mafia."
Takanashi Chinatsu asked again with doubt: "But I've never heard of any superpowered individuals."
“Because of the Supernatural Ability Autonomy Act, supernatural ability users in Japan can only appear in Yokohama. After leaving Yokohama, all supernatural ability users are not allowed to reveal their abilities in front of ordinary people. It’s normal that you haven’t heard of this.” Gin paused and said, “There are always exceptions. As long as it doesn’t cause too much trouble, the Supernatural Ability Special Operations Division won’t restrict you too much. Besides, the Port Mafia is opposed to the Supernatural Ability Special Operations Division, so protecting individuals is still possible.”
Chinatsuka Takanashi was still unsure: "Can he defeat the magician?"
Gin couldn't help but laugh.
The port Mafia's top fighter, one of the best superpowered individuals in the superpower world. Although not a superpowered being, he has fought against superpowered individuals and held his own.
Just dealing with a mere mage? Who are you underestimating?
"Yes." He was absolutely certain.
Chinatsu's eyes immediately lit up with anticipation; she was practically ready to grab Gin's arm and wag it around like a spoiled child.
“I have some connection with him, but it depends on whether he’s available recently.” As he said this, Gin met Takanashi Chinatsu’s hopeful gaze.
Gin coughed lightly and silently looked away.
“I’ll talk to his boss. As long as the reward is right, Chief Mori shouldn’t be unwilling to sell anything.”
With the matter settled, although he was worried that Takanashi Chinatsu might bring up the topic of confessing her feelings again, he couldn't help but remind her, "Scott is no good. I just took you away, and he hasn't cared about your life or death at all."
Chizuru Takanashi certainly understood.
But she didn't want to tell Gin that she was building her own faction, so she didn't tell the truth: "But he's a really good cook, very gentle, and handsome!"
Gin looked at her suspiciously: "Don't you always hate men who can sweet-talk?"
"I don't hate sweet talk, I just hate Lai, that bastard has completely fooled Akemi!" Takanashi Chinatsu gritted her teeth, determined to take Akemi back from that long-haired fox one day.
Gin had nothing to say.
Gin saw Takanashi Chika off from the base and drove her directly to her apartment building. As they parted, he casually remarked, "Judging by looks alone, I think that cop's face wasn't bad either."
Chinatsuka Takanashi's hand on the door handle stiffened slightly, but she quickly closed the car door, walked around to the driver's side window, and smiled at Gin through the window: "What are you talking about? No matter how much I hate the organization, I would never date a cop, right?"
Gin scrutinized her with a deep gaze for a while before nodding. "It's good that you understand."
The Porsche closed the windows and sped away.
Watching the Porsche disappear from sight, Takanashi Chinatsu finally loosened her sweaty fists. Gin had actually memorized Matsuda's appearance; it seemed she should avoid contact with him in the future.
Back home, Takanashi Chinatsu had just comfortably sprawled on the sofa when she heard a "whooshing" sound coming from beside her.
"Kenji-chan~" Takanashi Chinatsu called out, grabbing Hagiwara Kenji's head and starting to rub it.
It doesn't feel good at all, damn it, I only managed to knead a clump of air.
Kenji Hagiwara, however, cooperated, which added a bit of fun.
"Did you need something from me?" Takanashi Chika withdrew her hand.
Kenji Hagiwara pretended to tidy his hair and clothes, chuckled, and deliberately leaned close to Chinatsu Takanashi's ear to say, "Chinatsu-chan, I know you don't like being associated with me, but I'm leaving soon. Could you do me one last favor?"
Chinatsu glanced at him, then said in a deliberately nonchalant tone, "Go ahead and say it!"
"I want to know how my family and friends are doing now." Kenji Hagiwara clasped his hands together, his eyes full of anticipation.
Chinatsuka Takanashi frowned and immediately refused: "I can't bring them here, and they can't even see you."
Kenji Hagiwara immediately waved his hand and said, "No need, no need, just take a few close-up photos of them for me, please, please!"
Looking into those pitiful, violet-colored puppy eyes, Takanashi Chinatsu couldn't help but admire her own wisdom. It was a good thing she hadn't opened up to Hagiwara Kenji before, otherwise, she definitely wouldn't have been able to stand being stared at by those wet, puppy-like eyes of his all day long!
Anyway, Kenji Hagiwara is about to pass away, so even if he's annoying her, it won't bother her for more than a few days. After all, they've been good roommates for two years without ever interfering with each other, and she doesn't want Kenji Hagiwara to have any regrets.
So Takanashi Chinatsu nodded, "Okay, give me your address and ID."
"Yay!" Kenji Hagiwara cheered and immediately told Chinatsu Takanashi her parents' names and address, as well as her sister's workplace.
Chika Takanashi wrote everything down, and remarked with some emotion, "Your sister is also a police officer. Your family really loves having police officers."
“Not my parents~” Kenji Hagiwara said casually, then added somewhat shyly, “And my friends…”
"There can't be a lot, can there?"
"No, no, all my friends are police officers, and they all have their own careers now. They should all be doing well. I'm just a little worried about Jinpei. He and I grew up together as childhood friends. My death must have been a huge blow to him. I don't know if he's gotten over it yet." Hagiwara Kenji said sadly, completely unaware of Takanashi Chinatsu's sudden change in expression when she heard "Jinpei."
"Xiao Zhenping?"
"Yes, his full name is Matsuda Jinpei, and like me, he's in the Explosives/Disposal Squad."
Chinatsu Takanashi gave Kenji Hagiwara a deep look.
What a coincidence!
Although she had guessed that Matsuda Jinpei and Hagiwara Kenji were around the same age and might know each other, she never expected that the two were childhood friends who had grown up together.
For some reason, Takanashi Chika thought of the time a few days ago when she invited Matsuda Jinpei upstairs for a chat. Although it was she who thought of the bracelet and deliberately invited him later, Matsuda Jinpei had indeed hesitated at the time.
Kenji Hagiwara is a bound spirit, which means he died here.
What was Matsuda Jinpei thinking when he looked at the building that had blown up his childhood friend?
"Did I make things difficult for you? Jinpei is very wary. You don't need to take pictures anymore. Just go check on him and make sure he's alright." Kenji Hagiwara quickly changed his mind, worried that Chinatsu Takanashi would find it troublesome and refuse to help. This was his last chance to get news of his friends and family.
Takanashi Chinatsu thought of the word "hagi" that Matsuda Jinpei had mentioned when he was a child. Because there are so many words with the same pronunciation in Japanese, she hadn't thought much about it at the time.
"So it was you." Takanashi Chinatsu's gaze softened considerably as she looked at Hagiwara Kenji.
Kenji Hagiwara was very perceptive of people's emotions and immediately noticed the change in Chinatsu Takanashi. His expression was somewhat suspicious: "Chinatsu-chan, do you know Jinpei Koji?"
"Yes, I know him! I met him just recently!" Takanashi Chinatsu erased her childhood memories and deliberately started talking about her visit to the shrine: "Officer Matsuda, he's a handsome but melancholic guy!"
Kenji Hagiwara's eyes lit up at first, but quickly dimmed again.
"Melancholy? Jinpei used to be quite cheerful."
Chinatsu Takanashi immediately realized she had misspoke and quickly corrected herself: "He's not melancholic, just a little serious. He also loves to laugh, and his laugh is very gentle!"
"It feels like..." Kenji Hagiwara couldn't help but feel a little sad. Jinpei hadn't forgotten him.
It's been two years already, does Jinpei still not let go?
"Hey, don't be sad. I'll take a picture of him for you. I'll definitely take a picture of him looking mature and reliable now!" Takanashi Chinatsu comforted Hagiwara Kenji. This was Matsuda-san's childhood friend, and she had to let him leave in peace.
A note from the author:
