Chapter 26: Let's learn about the divine artifact, but his memories will disappear.

Takanashi Chika led the group inside and then poured five cups of tea.

Matsuda Jinpei's eyes flickered slightly as he looked at the cup of tea placed on the empty seat.

Yato, however, shouted nonchalantly, "Why pour him tea? He can't even drink it!"

Kenji Hagiwara gave a wry smile and shrugged helplessly.

Takanashi Chinatsu was furious with this god who not only didn't help her but also caused trouble: "I'm willing, is that not allowed? If I pour him tea, I can at least get a thank you and see him smiling happily. Pouring tea for you is like feeding a dog. Are you the god of retribution? I only met you because I did too many bad things!"

Yato shrank his neck again and again.

Yukine, standing to the side, held her teacup and gave Takanashi Chika a fawning yet guilty smile, as if to say, "You can't scold me if you scold him, okay?"

"Don't be angry, China." Matsuda Jinpei gently patted Takanashi China's arm twice to comfort her.

Takanashi Chinatsu always treated Matsuda Jinpei specially, so she immediately calmed down, sat properly, and told him about what happened after she met Hagiwara Kenji.

In general, she was too timid and irresponsible, and didn't want to be involved in other people's fates, so she completely ignored Kenji Hagiwara's requests and didn't even listen to them.

She's a rotten person, she has no heart for helping others, and she certainly wouldn't help a troublesome ghost.

The tea seemed more bitter than usual, flowing down my throat like swallowing a mouthful of bitter medicine—I couldn't swallow it down, and I couldn't spit it out.

"No, it's because Chinatsu helped me a lot. Without Chinatsu, Kenji would be so bored!"

"Chinatsuba-chan, don't be sad, smile!"

"Chinatsu-chan is a beautiful and kind-hearted girl!"

Kenji Hagiwara was getting really anxious when he heard Chinatsu Takanashi say that, so he tried his best to be funny and cheer her up.

Takanashi Chinatsu never looked at him, nor did she care about Yato and Yukine's reactions. She knew that Matsuda Jinpei couldn't hear Hagiwara Kenji's words, but she didn't intend to convey Hagiwara Kenji's meaning at all.

She wasn't lying; Kenji Hagiwara was just trying to comfort her. She hadn't done anything wrong, yet she was still absorbing emotional value from Kenji Hagiwara every day.

She's so lame!

She's a bad guy, a villain who only knows how to ignore Kenji Hagiwara!

Matsuda Jin listened to her calmly until Takanashi Chinatsu was completely silent before speaking: "You're making yourself sound so bad. How can you be so self-deprecating?"

"No, I said..."

"Chika, I didn't interrupt you, so please don't interrupt me either, okay?" Matsuda Jinpei raised his voice, carrying a subtle sense of pressure.

Takanashi Chika immediately lowered her head, not daring to say anything more.

Matsuda Jinpei immediately slapped his forehead in annoyance and said apologetically, "Sorry, I didn't mean to be mean. When you were pouring tea just now, you poured a cup for Hagi too, right?"

Chinatsu nods.

"Judging from how naturally you moved, similar things must happen often," Matsuda Jinpei chuckled.

Chinatsu Takanashi didn't refute. Although she would forget to prepare Hagiwara Kenji's portion when she was in a hurry, she would sit down with Hagiwara Kenji for a meal and tea when she had time. She couldn't not even satisfy that. She had long been used to and accepted the fact that there was another "person" in the family.

"Wow, what a waste!" Yato yelled. "He can't eat or drink anything, you're just wasting food... Ouch!"

Yukine stomped hard on Yato's foot and then put her hands together in an apologetic smile at the others.

Wasting food is certainly bad, but Matsuda Jinpei coughed and pretended not to hear.

"After you invited us in, you turned off the TV, right?"

Chinatsu nods and says, "Because he's often home alone with a ghost, which must be very boring."

"You chat with him too?" Matsuda Jinpei's voice became more and more relaxed.

Chinatsu nods again.

"So why do you say you didn't do anything? He's already a ghost. You chatted with him, turned on the TV to keep him entertained, and even drank tea with him. He should be grateful to you. As for whether there are any problems he can't handle, that's his own fault. Who told him to die so carelessly?" Matsuda Jinpei said the last sentence through gritted teeth, raising his fist high and slamming it down next to Hagiwara Kenji's cup, as if he wanted to smash the other man's head.

A fist swept past his eyes, and Kenji Hagiwara shrank back, too guilty to utter a single word.

"A ghost should act like a ghost and stop causing trouble for the living!" Matsuda Jinpei seemed to have a grudge against Hagiwara Kenji at this moment, grinding his teeth fiercely and speaking in a cold and ruthless tone.

Kenji Hagiwara shrank back, hugging his chest tightly, as if he wanted to curl himself into a ball.

"You took those photos of me before, just for this guy, right?" Matsuda Jinpei understood everything now. Girls like to use their boyfriends' photos as phone wallpapers; they were clearly taken for this bastard.

"Yes. I also took pictures of the Hagiwara family." Takanashi Chinatsu didn't deny it.

"Be grateful and kneel down to thank me properly!" Matsuda Jinpei shouted fiercely at the air.

Kenji Hagiwara's knees buckled, and he knelt down with a "thud," prostrating himself before Chinatsu Takanashi: "Thank you, Queen Chinatsu!"

"Pfft," Takanashi Chinatsu, whose nerves had been on edge ever since Hagiwara recognized her, finally couldn't help but laugh at his antics.

Kenji Hagiwara floated up happily again, clapping his hands in satisfaction: "That's more like it! Chinatsu-chan looks best when she smiles!"

Takanashi Chika felt a little embarrassed by what he said and quietly looked away.

"What's that guy up to now?" Matsuda Jinpei clearly realized something, but couldn't see it at all, and immediately fixed his gaze on Yato like a hawk.

"I am not a fraudster!" Yato immediately declared.

"I'm sorry, I made a mistake." Matsuda Jinpei had to apologize, saying, "If you need me to do anything to make up for it, I'll do it."

Yato's eyes immediately lit up, and he exclaimed, "Great! This is the first time I've had a police officer as a follower!"

Matsuda Jinpei remained silent, offering no rebuttal. His worldview had been severely shaken today; the gods and ghosts were all real—this world was utterly absurd!

“Make a wish to me, it only costs five yen, and you can wish for anything!” Yato stared at Matsuda Jinpei with bright eyes.

Matsuda Jinpei pursed his lips and silently took out a five-yen coin from his pocket.

Yato's eyes suddenly lit up even more.

Kenji Hagiwara was both surprised and curious: "They're really going to make a wish? What will Jinpei wish for?"

Handing over the coin, Matsuda Jinpei hesitated before saying, "If I were to ask you to revive Hagi..."

"I can't do it!" Yato instantly drew a big "X" in front of his chest with his arm.

Matsuda Jinpei choked up.

Kenji Hagiwara burst into laughter. How naive Jinpei is! How could he possibly grant such a wish?

Takanashi Chinatsu was a little worried. Would Matsuda-nii be disappointed because of this?

Matsuda Jinpei wasn't disappointed. He knew that people are always inclined to compromise. If you have a small wish in your heart, then make a big wish first, and the gods will naturally grant your small wish.

The rejection of his grand wish was within Matsuda Jinpei's expectations.

then……

"Then, Yato, please grant my wish and let me see Hagi and hear Hagi's voice," Matsuda Jinpei said, full of anticipation.

Takanashi Chinatsu and Hagiwara Kenji immediately looked at Yato expectantly.

Yato grinned broadly at the two people and the demon, and shouted again, "I can't do it!"

Matsuda Jinpei was stunned.

Kenji Hagiwara stared at him blankly.

Takanashi Chinatsu was taken aback at first, but then flew into a rage and punched Yato on the head, yelling, "I can't be as happy as you!"

"Ouch, that hurts! This is disrespectful to the gods!" Yato cried out, clutching his head in pain.

Chinatsu Takanashi didn't care about that; if Matsuda Jinpei hadn't held her back, she would have started punching and kicking again.

"You can't do anything, so how can you be considered a god?" Takanashi Chinatsu said angrily.

Yato also felt wronged: "But what you're talking about isn't my divine duty."

Matsuda Jinpei sighed, his eyes scrutinizing, "So what is your priesthood?"

Yato smiled smugly and said confidently, "Slaying evil spirits, that is, youkai that have been transformed by time!"

He even stood up and struck a pose, ready to welcome the worshippers.

After waiting for a while without hearing any cheers, Yato looked over in confusion and saw that the two of them had dark faces.

Only Kenji Hagiwara applauded, exclaiming, "Wow, that's amazing!"

Yato was immediately annoyed. Could he be blamed? He had only followed the ghost because he thought it was an evil spirit, but it turned out to be a good ghost. There was nothing he could do about it.

"Hagi is a bound spirit. If you can't let me see him, do you have a way to free him?" Matsuda Jinpei changed his wish.

Yato was a little embarrassed and didn't dare to be so smug this time. He said softly, "It seems unlikely."

"Is there any way to get Kenji-chan to eat?" Takanashi Chinatsu asked.

Yato shook his head guiltily.

"What about appearing in a dream? That should work, right?"

Shake head.

"Could we send something that the second-year graduate student can use?"

Shake head.

"What can you actually do? You can't just slay evil spirits, can you?!"

Seeing the two men's questioning looks, Yato immediately became indignant and shouted, "Who said that? I can also unclog toilets, clean, apply screen protectors to phones, walk dogs, and take care of kids! Whatever your wishes, I can do it!"

Chinatsuko: ...

Matsuda Jinpei: ...

Hagihara Kenji:…

Even Yukine: ...

Yukine slapped himself in the face, pretending he couldn't see or hear Yato's outrageous statement. How could he have encountered such a tasteless god? It was so embarrassing!

“There’s another way.” Yato took a deep breath and took Yukine’s hand to show them: “You can see Yukine, right? As long as he becomes my divine weapon, ordinary humans can also see and touch him, and he won’t be bound here anymore. He can go wherever he wants.”

The eyes of the two people and the ghost immediately lit up again.

"But his memory will fade."

"Swish"

The light went out.

A note from the author:

Yato: A divine weapon! A divine weapon! It's my new divine weapon!

Chika and Jinpei exchanged a glance and then invited Yato out of their house, haha.
