A brief summary of Book One, "Entering This Good Night".

The first volume is finished.

There's still a lot I want to say, but I've decided to dedicate a separate chapter to it.

First, let's talk about the plot.

It's been half a year since I last published a book. During that time, I went through the pandemic, graduation, internship, work, and going abroad... To be honest, I'm a bit rusty.

There has been a clear decline in both writing speed and plot control.

As those who have read the previous book know, I tend to be a slow starter (and I'm a bit long-winded), and I didn't manage the pacing very well in the early stages.

Reincarnated, Ning Feng's mindset gradually changes as he faces a perilous future.

From resistance to avoidance, and then from passive acceptance to proactive action, they gradually reveal their true colors hidden beneath their outward appearance.

I wanted it to be gradual and not abrupt, so the pace was a little slow.

Unfortunately, as the saying goes, without sufficient writing skills, everything is in vain.

The pace is too slow, the transitions between chapters are poorly executed, fewer people are following along, and there's not enough time for me to slowly unfold the story.

Also, the first volume didn't focus much on the female protagonist (Ariana is an exception...), and wanted to explore the world-building more.

This book was originally intended to take a different approach, but the title itself attracted some familiar readers.

As a result, they couldn't see what they expected, so of course they were dissatisfied, which I understand.

Another issue is that they haven't quite grasped the appropriate starting point and are still exploring, so they're hesitant to fully commit.

Moreover, setting the world in modern society is really not good, because the legitimacy of the story is undermined (not really).

Fortunately, the existence of an alternate world with extraordinary beings makes it possible to make sense of the story.

As for character development, let me give two typical examples.

【Ariana】, a bad woman, a scumbag cat, bad but not entirely bad.

If you think she's despicable, but also has some good points... then you've been successfully manipulated by her. (Just kidding)

Her presence is central to the entire storyline, making her a very important character.

【Li Tiandu】, a traitor, a fallen angel, a foster father, and a former hero.

Conflict, complexity, tragedy, madness.

This character has actually been around from the beginning, popping up from time to time.

It's not quite a case of "a hidden thread running through the grass, foreshadowing a thousand miles ahead," but at least there are some clues, and it's not a character descended from the mechanical gods.

His character setting is somewhat similar to that of the male protagonist's biological father, Duke Bell, in the previous book. Both are former heroes who became evil dragons, and both play the role of a father.

However, the two have different approaches to handling matters.

Duke Bell did not yield. His upbringing instilled in him the importance of maintaining aristocratic elegance and dignity even in the face of darkness, and he upheld the family's glory until his death.

Li Tiandu's character is more of a tragedy, as he loses his family due to an accident and is devastated.

He was corrupted by the gaze of the gods, unknowingly influenced, and ultimately became a puppet of revenge.

I didn't let either of these two "father" figures survive.

Some people may find it a pity, but I personally think it's a better way to handle it.

Duke Bell sought death, to depart with the lingering glow of a bygone era; to live would be a torment for him.

Li Tiandu has committed a crime and will not be forgiven simply because he was influenced by others, nor will he be spared death because he is the male protagonist's adoptive father.

Although I often write harem novels that aren't exactly morally upright, I still like to write about things according to my own habits and ideas.

Those who do good will have a good end, and those who do evil will be punished.

Evil must be eradicated completely.

In terms of visual description, at least up to the end of this volume, I have written out the scenes I wanted to depict.

A wooded cabin in a hallucination, Ning Feng wielding a long whip, a giant altar spanning the central area...

And the final battle scene—I've been wanting to write about this for ages, I'm dying to!

Do not go gentle into that good night

This is a poem about a father, in which the poet hopes that his father will not "go gently into the good night" when facing death.

The poet then listed four different attitudes people have towards death, which I interpreted differently.

These four attitudes are considered to represent Li Tiandu's personal attitudes towards death as a "father".

He was complex, even somewhat divided; he had been a wise man, a good man, a madman, a serious man…

The combination of visuals and poetry was an experiment for me. It didn't reach a satisfactory level, but it was barely passable. I hope to improve in the future.

Finally, on the deserted sea cliff, atop the dilapidated church, someone stood.

As dawn broke, the fallen angel Li Tiandu passed away, and Ning Feng awakened the abilities of the angelic lineage.

This is destiny.

But it's not destiny either.

By the way, let me explain why Overwatch didn't react to such a big event.

First, Li Tiandu used various methods; his plan spanned twenty years and was extremely meticulous.

Second, the observer program influenced all of this; some of them let things unfold as they pleased, hoping for a resolution.

Third, the entire sacrifice actually took place in a very short time, lasting only one night.

These things will be explained later, so don't worry.

After saying the happy things, let's say something emo.

The results were not ideal.

Writing books is a hobby, but when it doesn't get recognition, it becomes torture.

Although this isn't my first time writing a book, it's my first time publishing one on a subscription site, so I was somewhat prepared.

To be honest, I consider myself to have a fairly stable mindset, and I was able to foresee some of the current situation.

Thinking about it is one thing, but actually facing it is another.

It's very uncomfortable.

The lack of follow-up reading and the disconnection of recommendations on both platforms really upset me...

I don't like emo, but I was still emo for a while, and I considered cutting the book many times.

In the end, we tried to stabilize the situation and see how things went after the product was released.

I've put in a lot of effort, but if it really turns out to be a disaster, I'll reconsider...

In the very end.

Released on May 1, 2022. I negotiated with the editors to get an extra half-month of free access, which was also what I promised you.

I hope everyone can support me then, so I can have the confidence to keep going.

Thank you very much.

(Volume 2, "The Fall and the Judgment," the life-or-death crisis is resolved, it's time to get down to business, there are some things that still need to be done.)

(This involves too much information; you'll understand.)

at last……

Love you! Thank you for reading this far!

Let me do a split for you!
